Man, this game is really part of me. That was golden times... no other game has that feeling when I play Diablo 2 for the first time. This game is magic and Blizzard can't do this dark atmosphere again in these years.

They CAN make this dark atmosphere again. But Activision wants to hire discount game developers AND they want ALL Blizzard games to appeal to the largest crowds possible. (Scary doesnt appeal to the largest crowd.) Its all about what brings in the most cash.
@@GodsmackFTW Diablo 4's atmosphere is a lot more like 2 than 3, but I highly doubt that the game will be even close to as good.

first half of d2x is "fun crpg", last half of d2x is Skinner box / slot machine. Nice from time to time but unhealthy when playing too much.

One of my favorites from years ago is the Concentrate Titan Barbarian.
All stat points into strength. Max Concentrate, BO, Shout, mastery of choice (I usually went mace), and then what's left goes into Bash for more damage, Iron Skin for more defense (with 1 into each: leap attack, berserk, and the mastery skills)...
Slow to take down mobs, but very powerful, and doesn't require super high end gear.
The last time I played one though was shortly after 1.10 came out. I got off bnet after that and only recently got into playing single player again.
I really appreciate these Diablo 2 videos, you got me playing it! It may be 2018, but I guess it's better late than never.
One can always play the game ;) Not like its gotten any better or worser last 5-10 years lol. Well less people playing, items online harder to get etc...
Even after all these years, I'd still take D2 over D3 any day of the week.

D2 will forever be the best in the series, we'll see how D4 goes, looks a bit closer to how D2 plays, hoping for the best
I start my story with diablo from diablo 3. So I'm not blinded because diablo 2 is my childhood best game or something.
So I can judge it quite fairly.
I think diablo 3 is better only for those who can't think clearly. Are drunk or really bad taste.
Only think that diablo 3 made better is stash.
And D2 made everything else better.
Gameplay, music, feeling, atmosphere, builds, just everything.

yea, its my first char a sorceress on my 1st account that is using that build. Its also very good.
I always make kick sin/fire trap hybrids for ladder starts. Can do so many crazy variations! Crescent moon is a fun weapon too.

D4 got me hyped up again. I used to play fury druid back in the day. Got tired of D3 because I had pretty good gear and farming the perfect ones was getting boring, also the infinite paragon levels are just lame. Coming back to d2 now and hopefully some year the d4 will come out :D

I got a question tho: You create these builds in SP, right? So how do you toggle the closed bnet only runewords? Do you use a Hero Editor?
You can mod the d2.exe to make it work for ladder runewords. People also use say plugy mod to enable that. But yes its all done in single player to easier test things. Well some of the builds shown are from my live accounts on non-ladder eu :)
Frozen Orb will forever be my fondest D2 build memory.
For sure its classic but great one.
My favorite is Frenzy barb. My fondest memory and furthest I got in single player was a zealerDin back in classic.

Godly merc with maxed static field is honestly a viable build in itself. Your options beyond that are huge.
Nice ideas. When 1.10 was released i played a bow paladin in classic (fire aura + bow with exploding arrows). It was very strong early game, but lacked the proper itemisation in nightmare and above. It seemed to be more suitable in LoD, since there are more possibities. (Same for a Frost Archer.) So if you do further special builds, you might look for them.

For online play they aint :) Thats what my videos mostly focuses on, aka end-game. For solo offline you cant finish most of these builds without many 100's of hours of grinding I figure.

@@qnst406 Mate, I talk from experience here. Okay, I could be more active in Diablo 2, but some years ago when I played my last ladder I managed to gear up a decent 105 FCR sorc fast, 1-2 weeks casual play. You just haft to get a bit lucky on drops, start trading and hopefully also find some free games / kind people. Economy game is key :)
you need to do this one: hybrid frenzy + throw. basically the same as your frenzy, but on weapon swap you take ethereal lacerator and ethereal warshrike or 2 lacerators. The frenzy buff is still active when throwing axes, and the axes apply amplify damage which enables killing mobs even faster and you get the flexibility of melee and range and the fun of both.
I did a throw barb already with frenzy as is standard. Sadly its just to low damage, making it...just not fun.
Frostmaiden bow amazon is a very cool build.

My preferred ubers runner~
My fave (i have all of these builds)
1.) Hybridmancer (bone spear plus few summons) - monster in pvp, can kill bosses easily in pve
2.) Summondin ( paladin with offensive aura plus summons from runeword) - fun take to a very sturdy paladin build but with that superiority complex added in as you really feel like a boss. Imagine a holy knight with undead minions. Feally fun!
3.) Melee sorc (max enchant with freeze armor and orb maxes out) imagine this. A sorcerer. That pounds with a melee weapon. Shocking in pvp. A build so difficult but rewarding as you see other players fall.
4.) Taekwondo sin (kicksin but much more devastating with insane atk speed) - maxed out kicker all you need is kick, kick, kick!
Which rune for the summons? Eternity?
I had the Bear Sorc build on HC Ladder. It was really fun and people we're impressed by it. Not sure though if it was because it's rare or if it's because I must be stupid playing this in HC Haha

It's a difficult build to afford without either building it with gradually accumulated wealth on NL or a willingness to use illicit methods of item procurement on ladder, particularly in HC where the black market is considerably more expensive. Most people aren't great at trading for their wealth and many would instant gratification, hence the RMT-driven exploits and 3rd party progs that have tended to break the battlenet economy over and over since its inception. It's hard to build that kind of wealth in HC without cheating, so I'd say it was more the rarity factor. That and the fact that it's a ridiculously powerful build that with the right setup is essentially invincible in pvm...not odd to see one of those in HC. ;)
I had a level 56 necro that mainly used poison nova. He was one of my favorite characters I ever made, but I was using it on NM at the end of act 3, and as soon as I popped it, about half a dozen exploding skellies came up from around the corner. They all died right in front of me and killed me.
This was on hardcore. :(

The reason for the lifesteal doesnt work on zeal sorc is because you dont have enough physical damage. Most damage are elementals
Right ofc :) Simple ! I just wish I could then make draculs work, but its not gonna happen either. Bear sorceress vs Zeal...Its hard to say. I did a video I spended long time on doing cause my PC CPU is crap that ran 4(5?) sorc builds in chaos same time...That shows how the builds performs.
@@Djuntas imo of course bear > zeal. but I like both. a phoenix on switch as on the bear sorc also helps on the zeal sorc to regain life and mana. nevertheless, I prefered life only without mana shield for a zeal sorc. sadly I could not come up with a better technique to regain life. dracs have the problem as already mentioned that you need phys damage. once I made a phys damage build together with enchant. the regain was decent but the damage output simply too low so it was less fun : /.
Man that Blood Ring you had on Frenzy Barbarian was Bad-Ass.

ww barb is my fav build (yeah, is simple but cool, i try to find this skill mechanic in all arpg games). I like your idea about firetrapper with stormslash, i will test it because i want to make a fire trapper (lightning trapper is OP how we know xD)

and for sorc, it was either orb for mf or meteor for high fire dmg lol

Your fire trap kicksin was my first PvP character, did pretty well too. Barbs and paladins would destroy me but any caster class would just die. Endless stunlock. Druids and Amazons were especially easy.
And really easy to gear for Ubers, too.

@@Djuntas It's actually the rate of fire that makes them work. 1-2 traps + a mind blast would completely destroy a character with low base FHR. The damage was pretty bad, tbh. Lightning sentry is way better for pure damage. But for the stunlock, a wake of fire was amazing
Right, FHR lock. A state that is hard to stack high at least for builds that dont use spirit shield or many 12 FHR skillers etc :)
@@Djuntas Exactly! Sorcs and druids have pretty low FHR, even at the highest breakpoint. This build would still stunlock them without problems. An amazon doesn't have as low FHR, but the dodge/evade animation would amount to the same thing, rendering them helpless. The whole tricky bit was catching them in a trap, mind blasting them once, then place another trap and start kicking :D
For barbarians I would have a Widowmaker on weapon switch and play a bad trapsin with extra arrows. And against paladins I was completely powerless. Bastards are OP.

I played all these builds. I ended up loving melee in the end its just soo OP. Frenzy barb, werewolf, zealer paladin ended up being my favs. Amazons good too but not my style. I dont see many support builds those were a fav of mine too making lvl 1 noobs godlike lol 1 shotting any P8 bosses.
Frenzy Barb is insanely good on Act 2... But most Barb spam whirlwind..
if you didnt knew, fireclaw druid can be beast with 6 shaels in a dem blade. because the damage is flat, so you can reach a 6 attacks per secound with fireclaw :) but you will be single element build, so merc has to take care of fire immunes

It's interesting, Necromancers used to play very differently in earlier versions. So my favorite old build used to be a hybrid summoner with bone spear. Used to work very well even on low gear, relied on both your army and your own skills. Now days is a lot less viable.
One interesting Assassin variant that I have seen few people talk about is the Blade Fury Assassin, it's also quite fun... But lacks that crowd control aspect.
yea, there really is only 3 ways to do it now for necromancer, poison, full summon or bone. Neither is super strong, but they also are not bad. Summon ofc great on low gear budget.
Hybrid summoner works fine. You just got to rely on corpse explosion a little more. Also a +7 bone spear White wand works great
Fun stuff. I think a lot of people sleep on how good frozen orb is because they simply compare raw damage numbers to blizzard without considering the superior mechanics of frozen orb. Quite often smaller targets can sit in a blizzards blind spot and not get hit at all. Now that D2r is looming I will personally start out as a cold sorc exclusively for the first 40-50 levels and then pick either nova or fireball as a backup (probably fireball, so easy to get startergear for that by shopping a +3 fireball staff from drognan or akara).
yea, orb is really dumb. I showed its damage with FB in my "what class kill baal the fastest video".
I've been thinking about making a zeal sorc myself. She only gets a level 1 zeal, meaning its 2 hits right? Looking at common IAS calculators if you use a passion phaseblade the two final zeal breakpoints are at 54 and 65 IAS. However the first and final hit are the same speed at those breakpoints. That means that the actual IAS cap for a zeal sorc is 54 and not 65 right? If so since @Djuntas argued that dracul's were not that good you could use rare or crafted IAS gloves and maybe something like an Ormus robe with an IAS jewel. Also I'm not sure how valuable %damage taken to mana is on this build, should i always use crescent moon amulet or can i use highlords for the IAS? If you use IAS gloves and highlords you could just use chains of Honor as your body armor. Using an ormus robe is interesting but the lack if resistances will be difficult to make up for.
I have individual guides for my zeal sorc, you can take a look at it there, but its a very complicated build to do, because there are many ways to build it. But I didnt worry much about IAS caps on my current set-up.
@@Djuntas I ended up making a melee sorc using dual dreams, hand of justice phaseblade and dragon dusk shroud. I max ES instead of using pre buff gear and i use demon limb instead of putting points in enchant. I reach 64k damage and attack at 10 frames per second which is not a huge difference compared to using zeal.. like 20% or so. 5 attacks with zeal at IAS cap is 38 frames and 5 regular attacks at IAS cap is 50. You need less IAS from gear to reach the regular attack cap as well and you don't get stuck in zeal animation during oh shit moments either. A problem is attack rating but since hand of justice has the "ignore target defense" modifier it's only an issue against act bosses like diablo or baal, you'll kill them slightly slower basically.
Its kinda neat having a lvl 30 holy shock and a lvl 30 holy fire aura buffed by sorc masteries. Things just die on players 1 from the auras themselves.
Since you get a 95% ES on switch (+skills from cta and spirit) you can reapply it in field should you come across mana burn mobs. No need to fill your stash with pre buff gear and go back to town for 5 minutes everytime ES goes down. While ES is active i've never had to use potions (as long as you have capped poison res)
You can also use the beast runeword and transform into a werebear with this build to get more hp and attack at 8 frames per second. But i rarely do this because switching between beast and cta is just a pain in the ass and you lose easy access to teleport. Its cool during baal waves though.
I'm sure others have made this build before i did but i couldn't find a similar guide for it. It's pretty cool in my humble opinion. Although very expensive. xD
How are these builds in 8 player by any chance? And why dream with the best sorc?

Some of the builds lack survival, others just lack damage. I figure my tesladin is fine on 8 players, just lack of dmg, but maybe its the best one. Through Riftsin and death sentry is also good?

Well the builds do all work similar ^^ got your curse, your CE, little or many summons and then spells.
- bow paladin with holy freeze, they're slow, spam arrows at them.
- bow assassin with burst of speed all the time, similar thing, just more hectic.
I had Poison Dagger Necro.One hit in the heart it was enough for the opponent to llose all of his health and have 1 point only!
Frost Orb/Fireball is my fav build ever, I don’t know why, I don’t know how, I just know I always hit it, and play for a longer time than other builds...minor in poison
its very fun for sure. Its playstyle seems more aggressive than other sorc builds.
Does tesladin still work with the 2 +15 dreams vs level 30, I want to build it but afraid it's not good anymore
it does, always worked like that giving you 30 aura.

Yes its OK - I did that build with a full summon druid.
You are gifted with a very nice voice and it is fun to listen to you and follow your presentation. However, here is what I would improve: You are using a widescreen format (probably DDraw) which stretches the image in a very inconvinient way. You could use the Glidewrapper to have a better format. Secondly, it is not too revealing to present a build with Players1 setting. To show the capability of a build, it has to be Players 8. And lastly, i would have presented each item just a second longer, so one hasnt to pause the video over and over. Good selection of builds though.
Thanks man :) I have many comments over the years that mention the stretched image. If I dont play -w -nofixaspect (google it) the 800x600 window is tiny on video, fuss I haft to fill it up with side-bar graphics like other youtubers does, Im just not a fan of that. I have a done a few videos on players 8, but it can be hard to test this if its not offline so often I just stick to players 1 - I did a players 8 chaos run video with the best builds recently.
The assassin one where you throw the chinese stars
I made this years ago. Used a death. Don’t remember the base wep, but I remember that the firestorm on a torch caused problems, and the windup was kinda slow.
But once you started firing, it was a blast.

Sure my dude. See my assassin guides for my ww or kicker builds. BUT!!! Any assa build has to use traps to perform optimal, you cannot play at your best without it sadly. Something I talk about in say my WW assassin guide.
@@Djuntas Thanks for the reply. Your videos are fantastic and informative. I really like the "idea" of the Assassin but I hate that it doesn't "play" like an Assassin. It's all swords, staves, flails, and shields. It really kills the immersion. It's like everything is simply a stat stick. When I look at the Assassin I see a dual claw wielding martial artist. I'm currently level 32 on normal using a dragonclaw build I found on diablo wiki. I really like it because it allows me to actually play an Assassin. I do realize however that I won't get very far in Nightmare much less hell. I don't have a lot of experience with D2. But it suffers from a lot of the same issues as D3 where you're forced to play in a particular way in order to progress. I did watch your tiger strike/Dragon Tail video. Do you still recommend that over a Dragon Talon build?

heres a old vet pro tip to use on weird chars like zeal dream sorcs. Use double upd twitchthrow armor and then an ultra mega hard to craft ammy 2sorc, 10 increase chance to block ammy, high dex. If you can get fcr and all res or life with it... GG. That be icing, but getting the 2/10/dex on it is the main priority. having that ammy and twitchthrow on acts like a mini holyshield buff where it cuts down your dex requirement BY ALOT to hit maxblock with a towershield dream shield (towers and its exceptional/elite counterparts) have the best block rate out of all shied bases. I just dont recommend going the exceptional or elite base simply cause of the massive str req which you can save stats on via towershield... and dream already gives a big flat + defense mod anyway so even a towershield will get decent + def. twitchthrow is a very underrated armor that people pass on for wonky hipster builds. 20ias/20fhr/20icb ... good stuff. Put whatever gem you want in it. 15res/15 ias to help with faster zeal swings :).
And +1 to orb/fber with fully decked out supportive uniques to boost cold dam. Technically you can spec it to be blizz/fb as well with bigger cold dam vs fire dam, but orb/fber is easier and more laid back.

This goes WAY back... but my favorite all time build was NOVA sorc.. i forget what patch it was but they were overpowered and BADA** for a while.... Anyone remember? :)
They still are =) I stand by, to this day, that 200 FCR nova sorc is the best 1 to maybe up to 5 player build in Diablo 2. Costly build, but very strong. You just spam teleport and nova, with no bigger mana issues and OK survival.

my fav build is a windy druid, only thing i occasionally die from is super extreme phys attacks due t the cyclone armor blocking almost all magic dmg. and it is super cheap as in i use sig glove boot belt shield the defense on belt is good as it grows, the boots offer great mf, gloves dont need u can use a mf glove, or w/e, the shield u sock it and put a diamond in it for more res, the helm i use ort sol on a +2-3 nado, hurricane helm, for armor u can choose, like fort, stone(sheal, um, pul, lum)-great defense, rings i usually go with like two nagels or fcr mf ring, ammy craft one or try to get high +skills with fcr, or mf etc, and spirit sword or hoto.
Nothing really off the course here was expecting more experimenting to be honest... Werebear sorc was the only one yet I already did that one unfortunately.
Holy fire/shock destruction runewords with Phoenix as a shield is quite versatile build for sorc you can make using enchant and thunder storm as a bonus dmg /att rating and with maxed telekinesis and Mana shield its invincible... Except for Mana burn where you need to be more cautious.
For example instead of classic frenzy barb whirlwind/brand runeword on switch barbarian with immortal set is dope.
As pal (not counting Breath of the dying zealer) I tried brand / hammer build... It did pretty good and is safe as well.
For frenzy/warcry barb I did the lacerator/grandfather, delirium, draculs, fortitude for random spells to cast. High strength, not full vitality I called him the wild barb mage. It's pretty immortal since you kill enemies in perma stun and the rest is fighting among themselves(delirium). Hence you cast fear, life tap, amplify dmg, chilling armor, mind blast as passive then warcries as active. Pretty dope I did ubers with it 0%crushing blow. Only down fall is the 1% delirium morph which can be annoying at times. 😅
Necromancer... Dim vision/amplify dmg passion/Phoenix with beast runeword iron golem. Blessed aim merc with concentration aura. You get to around 5k dmg. As a bonus you can add corpse explosion but most of the time it gets redeemed.
Now I'm trying hybrid fire/summon /melee druid with 1skill in tornado for freeze... Playing on players 8 since lvl 1 it's crazy... Being lvl 30 on duriel 😅
Next I will try Poison amazon, draculs, Max block, max evade, with holy freeze beneath of the dying merc to do the killing while I dance at the place 😃
Bonus: barbarian whirlwind/brand/Bonehew for corpse explosion. Give it a try.
PS I don't have any good assassin so no idea what to experiment with. Might give it a try however that class doesn't interest me very much.

Replaying D2 in 2020, still a great game.
For sure, just a bit wooden gameplay and mechanics, but rest still works fine in 2020 :) Well graphics and QA issues is also bad.

Tesladin for sure. Much better movement, survival etc. Bear is worse cause you cant cast spells in it aka no static, only auto attack single target. But its lightning dmg and single is very high.
Is the tesladin the same or has it been nerfed I think I heard something about the aura not stacking to 30 anymore

Djuntas, the only thing I am missing is the DMG output. I have no idea how much dmg (numbers) you do. Like with Tesladin for example.
What do you mean, like scrolling combat text? Aka showing numbers? Diablo 2 is an old game. Or do you mean character sheet damage? Grief is bugged, does not show the correct value, but sheet damage doesn't tell a lot anyway for most builds.

How far did you get, must have been a hard build with no synergy to damage kinda.
@@Djuntas I’m thinking 70ish. Playing solo made hard but it was a challenge. There was parts that I wouldn’t or couldn’t play alone.
I never expected to live.LOL but each life gave me new chance to learn. Having friends to loot me was a blessing. It got to a point that I only played with friends especially as I leveled up

Know that the economy of old D2 and now is very different, especially if you joined the ladder later, or played non-ladder. But actually prices already going down fast in D2R - Right now a ber/jah is about 30% the price of some weeks ago. Wait 3 months and well see non-ladder prices :)

@@master9095 Thanks man :) Glad people can use em. Zeal sorc does have static and a more frantic feel to it, but sadly the paladin with grief zeal dmg (aka OP dmg even without dual dream) and better survival is stronger.
