I think he's primarily listing weapons used by melee *characters*. Infinity is extremely popular, but is used almost exclusively by mercs(with a few carried by offbeat lightning sorcs), very few melee characters actually use Infinity themselves. Same with Pride and Insight, they're very popular merc weapons but not actually used by the player characters directly.
Doom is on the list. And since the video is about weapons used by the player character, not weapons used by the player's mercs, that's why no Infinity or Obedience. Almost no player character uses Infinity, it is almost ALWAYS being used by a merc(a few specialty light sorcs carry them, but they don't melee with them), same with Obedience, it's only really used on mercs by players who can't get a Doom/Infinity/Pride/BotD for their merc and don't need the mana of Insight. Oath is a nice item, but not sure about popular. From 1.10 to the present, I've only ever seen a couple of people using Oath, usually people who ONLY use self-found stuff and weren't willing to trade or use JSP to get stronger weapons.
Oath in an ethereal champion axe on a Fury druid, ya is very good and i want to find an eth scourge too that base is excelent because it has very good ias for the Palladin too
The list is obviously a matter of opinion, but I think the Insight and Infinity runewords are missing, as well as Reaper's Toll. They are mainly for mercenaries, but mercs have't been excluded in this consideration. Tomb Reaver is pretty awesome as well.
Stormlash is also good for kickers as they can’t benefit from weapon enhanced damage of any kind so only crush blow added elemental damage and proc on hit matter
EXTIMUS WAIT!!! You forgot to mention the LEVEL 22 Charges of Blood Golem on the Death Runeword! This can be extremely nice! Sort of reminds me how people never use the Spirit of the Oak charges in HOTO anymore but when HOTO was introduced back in 1.10, everyone who used HOTO was using the Oak Sage charges. What are your thoughts on no one using the Oak Sage charges anymore Xtimus?
Eth zod razor(unique tomahawk), eth death (unique zerker) both popular. Grief is strong because it has a high minimum (it's like fireball for instance) instead of say ebotdz (which is higher max but lower minimum). Grief is better on no miss builds like smiters then on fast builds that rely on attack rating like zealer, and ww Barb's are better low movespeed (moves across slower thicker sets of hits) high attack speed(more hits on spinning), while concentration Barb's you want high def, high attack rating (hit more then being hit). Fury druids are the most expensive to build since with the right rares they can beat any melee (other than smiters).

Steel is on this list, I knew I wasn't the only one to value this underated gem (seriously everyone I know tells me im stupid for even using the damn thing) Double swing 2 of those babies and have a bit of life drain and you're set till mid nightmare. (that's when i switched to lawbringer & aldur's rhythm)
Like the noun "ATtribute" versus the verb "atTRIBute" My personal favorite might be "FANatism[sic]" since it not only moves the stressed syllable, but it removes another syllable altogether. Kind of impressive. 👊🏼
Is the ethereal Stormlash you showed even usable? It had no repair or indestructible modifiers. Wouldn't that one just break in just a few melee attacks?
Id reorder a few of those..: 1. LW, 2. Death, 3. Grief, 4 tie for eth Stormlash or eth upped RIbcr., Doom and beast are good fun but PvM they are expensive to repair or use a lot of rals to wear. Same with grief unless its in a PB.
eth rare legendary mallet with such mods as : 400+% ED, 2 sockets, ethereal(its actually not a mod for a rare), cast amplify on a striking, 40 attack speed, some Life leech and maybe attack rating is my wet dream
obedience is a hella good runeword tbh. good stats, lv 21 enchant, crushing blow, resists. but yeah, its a polearm and not many people do builds with them.

man i've found like 3 stormlashes lol. But yeah my lvl 91 sp zealer is using a stormlash now and its pretty dope. The only thing i might pass it up for is a death cleaver, which i've been hoping to find for a long time now.
Wish they'd make D2 with the same engine as Diablo 3 or just a remastered with improved graphics to fit todays sceen-sizes/standards. Was sooo disappointed when they made that crappy D1-overlay bullshit on Diablo 3.
I have the stormlash not ethereal though, but since I have never seen a zod rune in my life, at least I can use it. It does decently against physically immunes in a zealer thanks to the lightning damage, static field and tornado.
Would you PSkull the Heavens light or maybe socket Stormlash and add PSkull on a Zealer? I haven played D2 for MANY years but have signed up for the remake

Why wasn't infinity in this list? CTC chain lighting on strike AND conviction aura. This was the holy grail of runewords melee weapons when I was playing back in 2012.
Doom is ballin strong on a cold sorc, even against cold immune the aura slows them for your Merc to poke them down easy. -50% resistance is broken strong on one item. Phenix shield is strong on fire sorc.
Doom is awesome Act2 merc weapon you can use other aura like Defiance and your merc still having Holy Freeze not to mention it deals massive damage too!

bugged foti armor for damage and survivability, and helm... some life leech like gaze, also has damage reduction. Below that is shaftstop and tal helm in my opinion. The merc really needs that life leech, defence and damage reduction. Diablo 2 mercs die so fast.
I wonder how fast a frenzy barb with dual Stormlash, Gface, cb gloves, and travs could kill ubers. Imagine crushing blow and static field proccing non stop. Xtimus would you consider doing this? Even in single player. I am soooooo curious and don't have the means to test it.

2nd place belongs to any 40% ias 300% ed etheral weapon with self repair, fools and 2 sockets. A perfect breath of the dying offers a total of 495% ed if you count in a superior 15% ed, etheral 50% ed, 30% from attributes but lacks any deadly strike, where most people will Lo the rare weapon this isnt also calucating any minimum and or max damage mods on the rare weapon. Any thanks to charsi food, hacks exploits, bots etc they arent exactly hard to find anymore an practically everyone has them usually as a berserker axe.
My sorc is with a globe that does 25 % chance of teleport when struck. I had just get that weapon when it teleports the first time I thought it was a bug hahahhaha
Good list. l would go with upped Ribcracker. Cheap and Absolute monster on a werewolf. Definitely should be on the list. a good etheral tomb reaver 3 socket is obviously amazing too but soo fucking rare.
I hate how (usually) the best runewords are ladder only. I know there are mods, but all the runewords should be available no matter if you play ladder or not.

the redeemer is a much better choice than heaven's light as an overlooked melee scepter. The ~120 added damage mod gives it great damage output.
Man, I did Oath from a ethereal Cryptic Sword for my new Zeal Paladin and today is my best melee weapon in D2

cryptic sword has too high dex/str requirements unfortunately, as much as I love the look of the weapon. Imbalanced, I'd say.

they die way too easily in hell and you can't buff them with cta because they disappear when you weapon swap

grief have option damage +400 then you have (35-40 base damage + this affix you have 435min 440 max damage) i thing correctly??

Someone modded SC2 and remade LoD entirely in that engine. But you have to buy starcraft 2.

A few seasons ago I did a Baal run just for xp with a javzon that had less than 50mf and Baal dropped the Stormlash... I couldn’t believe it

Phoenix Zerker in one hand is a good choice on certain Frenzy Barb builds.

Personally I love the Tomb Reaver for my whirly Barbs that run the Pit and do my Baal runs (I kill all the way down to him, love level 85 areas).
I've used Doom in PvP a few times on a blizzard sorceress. It keeps those annoying smiters away.
that ogre maul drops several times a farming day for me... the set is great though, you can solo ubertristram quite good

You can't put rares on the list, cause they are inconsistently created by chance. Runewords and Uniques are absolutes.

The funny thing is, even if you have all the runes at your disposal....beating act 5 on Hell...is still close to impossible.
