Your videos are awesome and inspirational!! I have to ask, after you apply your fondant do you put in back in the refrigerator before moving on to the next cake?
Thank you so much Mishelle! I'm a Wilton girl thru and thru! The mat you see me using plays a big part in making it look so easy. It's a self-healing quilter's mat by Fiskar! =}
I saw that mat, very interesting! I have the sweetwise "Mat", I love it but its soo big and bulky. I do love wilton fondant because of its stretch and give....I hate Satin Ice!!! It dries out sooo quick on me and I have used veg shorting on my hands and all that good stuff but every tub I buy, I hate, gonna stick with wilton.....
mishelle248 I agree, I think Satin Ice is good for some things but it's not so good overall, because it dries out way too quick! I've noticed that Wilton's has changed their recipe or something and it's more like Satin Ice now which makes me very sad. I wish they would just leave it alone because it was perfect! I recently took a class with Timbo Sullivan and he specified for us to bring ONLY Wilton's because that's the bran he prefers too!
Are you working with modeling chocolate or fondant? Where did you get your roll out mat? I notice that you don’t use any powdered sugar when rolling it out, is that because of the mat?
that's a great idea you have...i'm planning to make it this saturday for my baby..can you pls tell me how you store them if i need it the next day...is the fridge safe enough, will not moist the time you take it out from the fridge?
Thanks Sharon! Yes, you can store it in fridge. The fondant will go thru a shiny period as the cake comes back to room temp but it will dry and be just fine!
Thank you Patty! I use Delphinium Blue by Wilton! You have to use quite a bit so if you don't have time to let the fondant rest for at least 24 hours so it's not too sticky use a drop of black it will help it darken up quicker but use very small amounts because black can make it go crazy in a hurry! lol 😁
Good morning love. I love your tutorials as myself I'm self taught and this is just amazing. What kind of buttercream icing do you use and what brand of fondant???
+Trinella Hinex Thank you Trinella! I learned everything I know about caking right here on TH-cam! I think it's awesome that we have this platform to learn from our peers! You can do anything you put your mind to!!! =}
This is freaking awesome......I do have to ask, did you go to school for this or this is your 'talent self' because I can't get over how beautifully your cake designs turned out......♥ Thanks again for the awesome videos!
Awwww thank you! It's determination....that's my gift. I don't let ANYTHING get the best of me if I can help it so I put in a kazillion hours working to get better and better! I'm still not where I want to be but I'm not giving up either! =}
+MelindaPittser I always freeze my cakes before I ice them, even if I bake them and decorate them in the same day. Freezing them makes icing them very easy. I also like to let them sit in the fridge overnight before decorating them so that the icing is stiff all the way thru. Do you use supports in your cakes?
Whoa, whoa, whoa! The Hulk and Spider Man are Marvel, and Superman and Batman are DC. You cannot mix Marvel with DC; Justice League with Avengers; Star Wars with Star Trek; Tooth Fairy with Santa Clause.
This is a nice cake idea for a boy who is into superhero's.
How many layers of cake do you use for each tier? Beautiful work
Loved your superhero cake for Parker!
Thank you Cynthia! =}
Thank you to show us what to made this decoration.FANTASTIC!!
You've got to be kidding me?!! What an extraordinary cake! And what a lucky 4 year old!
Awww thank you Caraboo! =}
And thank you for the video . . . definitely amazing!
What an awesome cake. Can I just ask what fondant work mat you use? What size is that too? It seems very durable.
Thank you, it's a self healing quilters mat by Fiskar! =}
Thank you. Is that safe to put fondant on?? I thought about getting one of those but I'm told it's not food safe.
Would you put fondant on your countertop? It's made out of the same thing?
Wow I know this is at least a $550-$600 cake. Great work. As a fellow baker and cake designer I know great skill and cake design.
Thank you so much Lakita! 💗
That cake is insanely awesome.
Your videos are awesome and inspirational!! I have to ask, after you apply your fondant do you put in back in the refrigerator before moving on to the next cake?
