Lmao. This dude got fired for attendance issues that he admits to at the beginning of the video. Don’t come to work on time or for your scheduled shifts, get fired. That’s how the grown up world is.
I don't think it's an issue to laugh about... I have known a few close people who took losing their jobs so poorly that they attempted suicide, even though it was their fault. That being said, it is important for people to recognize their failings and commit to bettering themselves. I don't know all of the details but it does sound like he brought it on himself. I only hope he learns from it and stops making excuses. On the other hand, I suppose technically it's possible management made up a long paper trail and framed him somehow... not as believable as the former, but still.
10:00 "Well some things, out of respect, out of our partners' privacy are not communicated with all partners." Also, I'm firing you in the lobby in front of everyone.
Bottom line is if you’re going to try to organize a business, you better have your ducks in a row. Corporations are going to be looking for a reason to fire you, don’t make it easy on them.
@@louisachalarca6494 Read the room. Read the comments. Danny was the problem, this has nothing to do with unions. Danny was a terrible employee, and treated other people terribly.
Just listening to this conversation I'd bet this is problem employee. Not to say that Starbucks doesn't suck. Also as a former manager, doing a termination meeting in the open is beyond unprofessional
Doesn’t surprise me at all that so many employees at this company are trying to unionize. I last worked for the company 5 years ago and I thought it had major problems then. Bullying going on at the stores, low pay, no commitment from the company/stores on hours, stuff like that. I live in a big city and there’s something like 50+ stores in my city and I worked at the number 2 busiest store. I found it absolutely absurd that I had open availability but would only get 20-25 hours a week there and that I had to resort to going on Facebook and asking other Partners if they wanted to give up their shifts or if they knew of stores that needed help. You shouldn’t have to do that shit while working for a multi-billion dollar company. And there were so many Partners that do this all the time. I went through things like being scheduled from 7am to 11am and I would get there for work and the manager would rush up to me and ask me to wait 30 minutes before clocking in because they needed to cut labor. I would always tell them to fuck off and if you really wanted to cut labor, then I could take the day off entirely otherwise I’m clocking in at my scheduled time. But when they bullshit their people like that plus nickel and dime them, not surprising at all that they want to unionize.
@@HawkGirl69 especially when they want you there at 4:30am or until 11 or 12 at night. It’s almost round-the-clock availability. But what gets really frustrating about it is when you look at what goes into making these drinks cost wise, say a venti latte. Two shots of espresso and some steamed milk, you factor in the cup and lid, they might have MAYBE 25 cents cost into it and then you see what they turn around and charge people for that latte. Point I’m getting to is that they’re an extremely profitable business. So when managers come to you and want you to leave 30 minutes early to “cut labor” or the same managers tell you that they just don’t have any hours to give you. It’s such bullshit. Like that extra 5 or 6 dollars in wages is going to just financially break them. What an eye roller.
Same. I’m not surprised at all, I’d vote yes if I was still there. I left in 2015 after 8 years of some TOXIC shit. If it wasn’t a hostile environment from a manager, to a manager and barista starting an affair and it affecting the store, to the typical product issues, appliances issues, staffing issues, being schedule outside availability, customers being downright rude, the clopen’s, all of it. It’s bullshit. But people deal as much as they can because they need a paycheck. The company uses and abuses you and the managers willing to do this shit because they’re promised a promotion, lol, good luck. I’ve seen people promised a promotion for YEARS and it never happened.
@@laceyn13 I think one reason I wasn’t liked much at my store was because by that point when I quit in 2017, I had over 20 years in retail work so I had seen a lot. I also knew that I had been around too long than to put up with bullshit from a 22 year old shift manager and a 25 year old store manager. I was almost always at work but there was one time where I had a conflict and couldn’t work a morning shift and I let them know 9 days in advance. The shift manager told me I needed to find a replacement for that shift, to which I said “that’s not my job to staff the building, it’s yours, I’m letting you know now that I won’t be here that day, so you can make arrangements.” I guess they didn’t like that I was so matter of fact, but there was nothing they could do about it. I ended up quitting a few months after that. But just an example of the bullshit they do daily there. I could tell you a zillion other things
This person sounds like a problematic employee and drama queen; and it's indicated when he attacks the person who is firing him personally, employing a moralistic guilt trip: "Do you feel good about yourself today?" It's completely irrelevant to the situation. The person who is reading the reasons he's being fired is perfectly respectful. And possibly the reason the firing is happening in the open is to actually PREVENT people from making scenes; where if faced being off to the side in the semi-privacy of a table with a manager yet still in public, the person being fired might keep some decorum. But the dude in this video can't even do that as demonstrated by him calling out to everyone in the store. And lastly we KNOW Danny is just a gay dude who isn't being misgendered at all - he wants everyone to call him they/them and mucks up his work place with his politics. "I'm fighting for my life to stay alive!" Oh brother...if that's the case then you should try to be the best employee ever. I'm surprised people are so sympathetic to this person - the problems with his PERSONALITY are so evident. Lastly who argues with a business that doesn't want you? You're fired. Leave. Get a new job. And kudos to Starbucks for employing their own form of leftist language: Danny isn't being FIRED, he's being "SEPARATED" - just like the homeless are now unhoused or are called "people who are experiencing homelessness." Well, Danny is experiencing joblessness. He wasn't fired, he was unjobbed!
Completely agree with you. This employee was probably incredibly problematic, I can tell just by their attitude and weird victim complex. Also true on being fired, I've been fired from exactly one "job" (a paid haunted house I worked at) and my response wasn't to argue even though it really pissed me off. I just rolled my eyes at the boss and said "ok bye". You're not gonna accomplish shit by sitting around if they're firing you.
Starbucks employee: please don't fire me, I slept in my car to be on time today because without this job I will literally die. Moron in the TH-cam comments: Why is this guy being so uncivil? He must be the one in the wrong. Corporations are our friends.
I understand what you are saying but this partner seemed to have issues that they could have approached differently or settled another way. You don’t try to solve it or tell them you have transportation issues after the fact. Idk what happen through transfers and other stuff. Another huge red flag was them trying to throw other people under the bus when they had no excuse for the issue he was reprimanded. Especially as a supervisor. I can’t tell a full picture from the video and there may be more underlying issues that are not addressed here, but the employee doesn’t show in the best light in this video to be frank. I am pro union, I hope all Starbucks get unionized and I am part of a union and understand the importance and how vital they are when it comes to setting better working conditions.

Danny was awful. He even brought people down at his other job, Trader Joe's. Everything was racist to him. Everything was homophobic to him. Everything was hate speech to him. He was a sensitive little snowflake who had to make himself the victim. Constantly.

second, third, and fourth were never said in any sort. first and fifth were the reasons stated. and they do go together. they get paid to union bust. to find any sort of reason to fire pro union partners.
How many euphemisms can you fit into one corporate policy. You're a Partner, we are Separating... it's not you it's me.. wonder what the deal is for partners? Do they all split the profit from the store? Or does the CEO get 10,000 times what the workers do for less work? Regardless of why this person is being fired, they should NOT be doing it in a lobby in front of everyone while claiming to be protecting the privacy of other "partners".
Starbucks fired me once for “using my partner number on my own POS login”. Which any partner knows is automatically blocked by the system. I used my boyfriend’s partner number on my POS as he had just ended his shift. They made up this whole story about how I knowingly violated the policy and how I neglected other customers to get his beverage made first. It was my first write up, I had a partner who just finished his lunch break take over cold bar as we had a backup on cold bar drinks. It was all insane, and I actually got them to reverse the decision and transfer me to the other district in my city, but it was never the same. I always had that blemish on my record and was never given the same opportunities for advancement I was told I had in the past.
I think misgendering is the least of this dudes concerns…..show up on time, no drama, work hard and be kind, that’s literally the key to never being fired.
They can fire you even when you are a loyal employee. They can fire you for no reason. It says in the contract they don’t need to give a reason to firing their employees. It’s unfair to everyone

If anyone wants some context here it is. Danny has been a problem partner since at least the time they moved to Buffalo 2 years ago and they came with a write up so I can only assume they were in their former state as well. They are one of the most toxic individuals I have ever encountered. They are mean, narcissistic, and all-around not pleasant to be around. They have continually been late and been confrontational with other partners and are specifically toxic to those they are in charge of. They body shame are biphobic and generally hate anyone not like themself. They used starbucks corporate reporting system to get rid of anyone they dislike or have a disagreement with. I have been present while they plotted to get a woman fired for not agreeing with them politically. I saved Danny's job by lying to my boss after they constantly questioned my sexuality on the floor, because I lied they were given a final written instead of being separated last year. They have been late constantly while on a final written, they did this to themselves and it has nothing to do with the union. Now they are begging for thousands of dollars on the internet (enough to pay rent for almost a year) even though they have another high-paying job, when they got others fired those people were left with nothing and no warning.
@@Democrities I worked at that store for almost 4 years. I am still in contact with people there. I mean naturally it's going to confuse people if he began his transition while employed there. Most people I know who are like that have transitioned enough before they fell into their current jobs; and surprisingly enough they look like how they want to be gendered. Amazing what hormones can do. But besides that yeah I think they could maybe not emphasize it so much at workplaces (it shouldn't matter anyways). It doesn't hurt to make the effort though.
This comments section is rotting my brain. Half of the comments are people who have literally worked with Danny and experienced their on-the-job harassment firsthand saying "Danny sucks, I'm glad they finally got fired for their multiple documented behavioral issues that occurred well before even preliminary union discussions." and the other half are random internet smoothbrains saying "hmm I don't believe you. Union good, Danny fired because pro-union. I am very smart." It's unreal. Danny spends the whole video ignoring the actual issue and grasping at straws: "I'm being fired for being gay / a POC / pro-union / late 'one time' / because I requested a transfer" etc. etc., all the while throwing other employees under the bus and even accusing the manager of sleeping with another manager. Absolute toddler behavior. How anyone could watch this video and think that Danny is an employee worth keeping around is beyond me. Danny, you got fired for being a bad person and a bad employee. @@LeBonkJordan I didn't know that because I really, truly, honestly don't give a shit about Starbucks or this union drama in the slightest anymore. For what I’ve learned from this video and the comments section, Danny deserved to get fired because he’s a problematic employee with a woke mindset. For what I’ve learned from a certain individual, He threw a hissy fit and squirting crocodile tears out of his eyes one time when a Manager from Trader Joe’s didn’t put the pride flag up. Other sources pointed out by couple individuals that In Traders Joes and Starbucks he harassed his employees, spreading his whole agenda (which politics wasn’t allowed at a job at all), and breaking every policy while working on the job. And I’m going to say this, If you guys backed up Danny in this situation, what is wrong with your mind. To More Perfect Union if you are seeing this comment, I strongly advise you to be considerate about this video and remove this video because Danny doesn’t deserve to be in the Union because he’s harass his employees, he invades privacy of employees, unethical behavior, and not the following employee policy.
A lot of these comments sure are suspicious. Almost as suspicious as someone getting fired and front of house, during operating hours in front of everyone.
The fact that this person posted this thinking it made them look good is pure delusion at its worst. This short video clip is enough to tell me that this dude was not fired for being a union organizer and he was instead fired for being a terrible employee. He brags about his degree in Communications, yet he berates his managers, tries to drag other people into the interaction, talks over and doesn't listen to anybody, and has been reprimanded more than once for inappropriate communication with his co-workers, oscillates between begging the managers not to fire him and telling them that he's better off without the job and he will be fine. He blames his firing on his gender and sexual orientation and his position as a union organizer. When him being late is brought up, he instantly tries to deflect and talk about how everyone else is late and they never get in trouble. He never once takes responsibility or owns up for his actions and bad work ethic. He should be angry that he wasted his money and time on a degree in Communications and obviously never learned a single useful thing about talking to others.
It will give danny more time to attend protests, be in safe spaces and troll social media for things to be offended about. Danny would be a credit to any business.
Been there done that. First day of one of my jobs was an 8 mile walk. I left 3 hours early to make sure I was on time. About 10m in it started raining. Just steady, not a downpour so that was a blessing. When I walked into the store soaking wet, manager started laughing at me.... but I was on time, and after that, they knew I was a keeper.
Sounds like he's trying to make himself a victim. This misgender whatever crap is total bullshyt. Get to work on time, act right and there won't be a reason to fire you.
"Partner" is Gaslighting. "Stipend" is Accurate. It's because he's pro Union & put in complaints about him. "3rd place" was stupid. I hope these ex employee s get together & get justice.
"get justice." Lol. I knew Danny personally. He's making himself out to be the victim here. A pity party. I have nothing against unions. But I do not appreciate snowflakes that have to point fingers at everyone else except themselves.
Just keep in mind it may not be anything but personal if you're separated by corporate. But you have to have good numbers. Your management will be able to put up performance, attendence, punctuality if you allow that to be in your file. Make your numbers, don't call in, don't be late, don't hang out with coworkers, dont get caught up in personal drama, never create situations or conversations that could be perceived as anything but a positive work environment.
It’s best too have a good relationship with the boss and company in general over a good relationship with the coworkers. Example I was fired from a job I’ve been fired from many jobs it happens cut backs production even pay it’s shitty but sometimes businesses have no choice. The thing is though I’m still able to go back to most my previous jobs and either do business myself there or chat up my former bosses. Most people would say I’m out of there screw them but I look at it as a learning experience and don’t hold anything against them. There was only one place I worked where it was hell was not a good experience the mangers and bosses ran the place very bad. Speaking of all this I saw my former boss in a Walmart of all places and asked how I was doing and even offered me my job back but I declined since I found something better. Being mature about a firing can actually show good faith later on not all bosses are assholes most the time it’s the employees
Here’s a clue: to ensure that you are not chronically late to work, one way to solve this issue is to set the clock/watch three to ten minutes faster than the atomic/universal time. We set out watches eight and a half to nine minutes faster than atomic/universal time just to be sure we are not actually tardy.
As a pro-union, and former Starbucks SSV myself, Danny is in the wrong, pro-union or not. As a key-holder, you are expected to arrive at least a couple of minutes before you’re scheduled shift to unlock the doors with your SSV keys, otherwise the store CANNOT open, which is why that position entails a lot of responsibility. Then there are pre-opening tasks such as temperatures that have to be done before anything can be served. In the best case, the SSV working the shift before (assuming they open earlier) or a manager had to stay later and pick up the slack. Worse, the manager at least had the courtesy to act professionally and seemingly by Starbucks standard by giving them several prior notices and Danny blew their last shred of dignity by attracting unnecessary attention toward them in the lobby. I feel bad for them but being pro-union doesn’t mean that you can use it as a victim card nor that you’re above the rules.
You’re the first pro union person I’ve come across in years. That can articulately communicate clearly and logically. Thank you, I hope there are more like you. If unions had you 20 years ago. They wouldn’t be in the situation they’re in today. Today they’re just as corrupt as the corporations they unionize.
I mean it seems like they were well aware of Danny's issues with schedule and transportation and made zero effort over years to remedy this. They were totally fine to keep things the way they were, until of course Danny put the union pin on. Then all of a sudden they have a long list of past infractions that need to be dealt with. Repeating the talking points given to you word for word while you fire someone isn't courtesy, it's cowardice.
@@christopherbope4940 Based off of their reaction and their sudden pleading, it doesn't sound like that issue was communicated to the leadership. @@luisvalencia7939 From the description: "Rojas, a shift supervisor who worked for Starbucks for nearly four years before being fired, had spent more than a year asking to be transferred to another store closer to their home. The Elmwood store, which became the first Starbucks to certify a union in December, is only six minutes from Rojas’s home, while the Sheridan and North Bailey location, where they worked, was a half-hour away. The transfer request was regularly denied, and instead, Starbucks in February unilaterally changed Rojas’s schedule, assigning them a store-opening 5:30 am shift. Because Rojas also works a regular closing shift at a Trader Joe’s grocery store and returns home after midnight most evenings, Starbucks’ change left them little time for sleep in between jobs." Doesn’t surprise me at all that so many employees at this company are trying to unionize.
I’d like to say I don’t want a union. I get where you are coming from though. I don’t understand why we don’t get full time if we are open

And kudos to Starbucks for employing their own form of leftist language: Danny isn't being FIRED, he's being "SEPARATED" - just like the homeless are now unhoused or are called "people who are experiencing homelessness." I have been present while they plotted to get a woman fired for not agreeing with them politically. I saved Danny's job by lying to my boss after they constantly questioned my sexuality on the floor, because I lied they were given a final written instead of being separated last year. They have been late constantly while on a final written, they did this to themselves and it has nothing to do with the union. uphill both ways. and everyone in the room clapped. and the kid's name was albert einstein. etc. etc.
Please don't fire me as I sit here almost in tears.
You know what, I don't care.
I'll have your job.
Is this guy bi polar or something?
Just keep in mind it may not be anything but personal if you're separated by corporate. But you have to have good numbers. Your management will be able to put up performance, attendence, punctuality if you allow that to be in your file. Make your numbers, don't call in, don't be late, don't hang out with coworkers, dont get caught up in personal drama, never create situations or conversations that could be perceived as anything but a positive work environment.
oh ya know “just be a corporate slave” 🙄
have you considered that's an absolutely and unnecessarily miserable way to live
@@LeBonkJordan have you ever considered that Danny was a toxic and awful coworker and a PR nightmare for everyone involved?
Here’s a clue: to ensure that you are not chronically late to work, one way
to solve this issue is to set the clock/watch three to ten minutes faster than the atomic/universal time. We set out watches eight and a half to nine minutes faster than atomic/universal time just to be sure we are not actually tardy.
Wow he's flipping like a 2 bit coin lol
" please don't do this " " you know what this is better for me " .
Imagine having a college degree and being sad about being fired from Starbucks a job for high school students
There are partner resources such as relief grants for such occasions that do not have to be paid back. Again-I empathize for the person and feel bad, but being part of a union doesn't make one invincible.
@@luisvalencia7939 From the description:
"Rojas, a shift supervisor who worked for Starbucks for nearly four years before being fired, had spent more than a year asking to be transferred to another store closer to their home.
Because Rojas also works a regular closing shift at a Trader Joe’s grocery store and returns home after midnight most evenings, Starbucks’ change left them little time for sleep in between jobs."
Seems like Danny was trying to address the issue on an ongoing basis. Firing seems like an unreasonable response in my opinion.
BOO-HOO. Starbucks profit felt nothing. People should have the right to not starve, have to depend on abusive corporations for healthcare, etc. The issue here is not Danny.
"There are partners who are misgendering me at work."
Clearly, this is an entitled, selfish, and extremely narcissistic individual on their hands, and it was probably in their best interest that they got rid of him, as he's more likely than not gonna be a PR nightmare. This kinda person will lie, make false accusations, and will slander other people for having different viewpoints than they do.
I normally hate Starbucks, but good on them for firing a toxic individual.

They really fired them in front of everyone too for no reason.
Hardly, it didn't seem that busy, they weren't being loud etc. perfectly reasonable, probabaly the most private place. Don't want to do it in the break room and have employees walking in on them. It also makes sure there are other witnesses should anything go down, or any allegations be made.

Highly doubt it.
Absolutely not LOL.. on what grounds ? (No pun intended)
From looking at the comments from people who worked with Danny or knows him personally and when Danny made a scene in front of the whole lobby at the 3:42 mark, he *totally* deserved it.
"people who worked with Danny or knows him⁽ˢᶦᶜ⁾ personally"
or are just being paid by corporate to pretend they know them
This is just the person you want to be representing you or leading for you. Arrogant, likely only begins to describe this person. No doubt a joy to work with.
As Danny's ship was sinking and you could clearly see the move from Danny fighting to save [pronoun] own job to getting angry and going to burn down the castle on the way out: "why isn't the DM here?", "everyone misgenders Danny", and, of course "’... Amy's contact information. Hannah's, Mallory's Alison’s…’ Danny interjects 'he's booking up with Amy by the way. And Partner Resources already knows.'"
The “Cobra” insurance premiums are absolutely impossible to afford!! I feel bad for them 😳Sorry Danny 🥺

Well, the issue here isn't Danny's flaws, which might be abundant. A lot of these comments are suspicious and it’s way too convenient that they appear only now instead of any of these people doing something to address Danny’s behavior at the time of the incidents. Yes Danny is a bad face for unions, but I really hope union negotiations continue and Danny aids the rest of the union in their spare time to get things off the ground
We tried addressing Danny's behavior at the time in a lot of different ways. A group tried going to our sm then our dm. I tried talking to Danny about stuff person to person and tried to warn them that people were upset. Danny turned around and reported all of us directly to corporate and led a group of his friends to do the same. Anyone who Danny saw as opposing them was forced out.
