    I own a 1978 911 SC in Grand Prix White with the whale tail and I agree with everything you said about the car. It get compliments all the time and I love the driving mine. It's a real drivers car where you feel everything and like you said today's cars are numb by comparison. My wife and I take Sunday rides in it and enjoy our time together. The problem is that these are getting so valuable that I am beginning to get reluctant to drive it. I certainly don't park it, where I can't always see it. I'm going to enjoy mine for as long as I can. Thank you for the review...Well Done!

    Personally, these earlier air-cooled 911's are my favorite.
    Timeless styling, the five large dash gauges, another fave detail.

    Porsche for me... wow.. I'm afraid I will never own a classic 911 but I do love the shape.
    First time I conciously saw one was when I was 6, maybe, and I sat on the back of a bicycle of with my older sister (She must ve been 14 or 15). She said "Hey look, isn't that a nice sportscar". I looked and I was hooked.
    I admire two very opposite sides of the spectrum when it comes to cara: Porsches and Unimogs ;-)

    The '64-'89 911's are absolutely automotive royalty. What a history- a 60's sports car that underwent rapid development in the 1970's from the RS to 930 all the way to the the insane 935. Then took off again in the 80's with the convertible added and increased sales as major status symbol. These were legends when they were still in production.

    GREAT REVIEW! My 1978 Porsche 911SC (Super Carrera) is a classic timeless design that's an attractive head-turner and a fun never ending driving experience. It's a Mocha Brown exterior color with a complimentary saddle leather interior. The 1978 Porsche 911 SC is a drivers car that makes you feel part of the road with continuous, never ending enjoyment while either driving around the city or cruising on an interstate highway. If you have the opportunity to find one for sale you will not be disappointed and you will clearly enjoy the ride. If you find a Super Carrera in great condition don't think twice.....just buy it.....Happy Trails!

    I don't care if they're the best, to me they have the most appeal. I really wish to own one.

    I drove a 1978 911SC as my daily driver from 2000 to around 2010. I live in Alberta and it proved to be a great car in the snow; excellent traction with the rear weight and instant heat. I made two modifications. The first was installing the later in-line heater blowers in the foot-wells. This gave much better heat. I also installed a pancake fan inside blowing out through the A/C condenser. This made the A/C finally work and it would work with the engine lid up to help troubleshooting. The engine fan is cute but it doesn't move a lot of air. The CIS system is great but you have to make sure there are no air leaks. The occasional backfire did cause problems like the cracked air box, even with the aftermarket safety valve. So, all in all, it was a great everyday car with very little needed repair. I basically wore mine out (180k miles) so I made the ones that are left even more rare and expensive.

    Smack dab in the center of the dashboard is the TACHOMETER, not speedometer.

    Great review, thanks. I had a '73T for 13 years then an '80sc for the next 13, still got it. It's a keeper. You really captured it in the drive - next time, more loud-pedal please ; )

    I've always felt that ac in sports cars is completely absurd. Drive with your windows down! Ac's rob power. I'm sure that driving one of these is similar to flying a WWII fighter...basic, raw, a bit rough and total power!

      @soisaidtogod4248 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I got mine, had factory AC, empty of course, and since it was a R12 system taking out the weight of the compressor condenser was a bonus!

      Well… agreed, but out here in the Palm Springs area it gets over 100 degrees in the summer, so losing a few bhp isn’t such a bad trade off.
