Yes, actually JYP himself said that he's surprised because District 9 and Hellevator are both on higher register / higher range that's usually for ggs. But then, Stray Kids just ate those songs like a piece of cake.

let’s take a moment and appreciate how jeongin improved. i was so scared for ma babie when they were on the show. and then he debuted with two lines only and now he’s a skilled vocalist (i was so proud when he started singing choruses in their songs) and even is participating in a show by himself. the only development that matters, truly
It's definitely one of the best debuts out there in terms of showing off their skills. The highest notes were by Woojin and Han, and I think Han and Changbin breathe like, once or twice max in their raps! They've got lungs for days
Once you're caught up with all the MVs you should check their Highlight Reel (prequel) it's basically a short film summing up and connecting all of their songs but it feels like a movie

district 9 was their debut yeah. i can see what youre saying with having something to prove. two members were eliminated during their survival show and they nearly didnt debut as 9. thankfully, jyp decided that their chemistry was better as 9 even if they were more technically perfect as 7. i know you have hellevator on your to-react list but you should check out all 7 songs they made for their survival show. theyre on a mini album called Mixtape.

@@JeffAvenue minho and felix. minho had only been a trainee for a couple of months and a member of the group for a couple of weeks when they did their showcase. jyp felt his ringing and rapping didnt improve as much as the others did. and felix still struggled with korean pronunciation since he'd only started learning korean when he got there around 7 months earlier.
i thought it was ridiculous that he was criticising their main dancers for their rapping and singing skills and they nearly ended up with only one main dancer. in the last episode, there was a live broadcast showcase and the audience was allowed to vote on debuting as 7 or 9. it was 98% in favour of debuting as 9. jyp was shook.

All stray kids songs are written, composed and produced by 3RACHA. Literally so talented, of course all of them can dance and sing too.

District 9 is their debut song and yeah it's in a really high register. It's even higher than their predebut song Hellevator that Bang Chan produced in their survival show and got scolded for writing it in a Girl Groups range.
My German exchange partner used to have an alarm that I can’t replicate in words but it was like one that made me think of a sinking submarine/ alarm that warned of a nuclear attack, something. The booms got louder and louder as it progressed. Never got used to it while I was staying with her, used to scare me awake every morning :)
