You see how much work society has to do, shaming a man for crying.
It merely shows his passion for the sport, and all the emotions that go with it.
To say it was childish, and taking away Rafa's moment is just petty and narrow-minded and is representative for not being in touch with your own emotions.

1:42 you can see right here that Federer is angry at himself for crying, but sometimes you just cannot hold back the disappointment of a loss. He himself said he would like to turn back time and make it not happen in an interview prior to the US Open of that year…

Poor young Rafa needs to endured years of being in a shadow of Federer even when he's winning, but he went / goes through it with class and dignity (as always) since then and it shows the quality of his characters (especially to Roger)… There's a reason why Roger is oh so proud now everytime Rafa achieved and broke record after records and praises him everytime he can on social medias.

Well, it was another tough loss against his nemesis back then, after losing a final in Roland Garros in an unparalleled brutal beatdown, then in Wimbledon in a super close thriller, the tournament which he had won five times in a row and would have set a record for consecutive wins there with a sixth one in a row, then losing the world number 1 spot to exactly Nadal, then bouncing back by winning the US open but not against Nadal but the player who eliminitated him innthe semis, so some critics said he just got lucky, and then having the chance prove everyone wrong and to equal Pete Sampras‘ record of 14 majors and being the favourite after Nadal survived a five-set-thriller in the semis, and having 19 break points against Nadal in that match, most of them in the third set which he actually should have won I think. It was another close loss to Nadal who had given him way too many close losses in the past…
