A confident and free flowing Nadal takes the ball more on the rise and changes direction more frequently even on fast and deep balls. And because he has the spin based game which is high percentage play, his shots will remain in play and end up being deep. As Koenig says, the down the line forehand is the barometer of Rafa's confidence. I could be wrong but many times I have felt that Rafa was nervous out of respect and fear for Novak which is rightly deserved but it ended up making him too conservative against Novak and he doesnt take the ball more on the rise on hard courts as he used to in 2013 which produced stellar results. Novak on the other hand is fantastic at taking the ball on the rise and especially against Rafa because already his balls have height and clearing the net on the rise is less risky compared to facing any other player and can give a flatter and deeper shot. I guess we cannot have everything in one player. Perhaps if Rafa had let himself be a lot more carefree and just go for it as Roger started in 2017, he could have had even better results on hard courts.
Yes that's what I'm searching for. Djokovic, Nadal, Federer the only athletes in the history who could be named in one Sentence with ALI, Jordan and Schumacher
Not to take anything away from Arnaldi, who played superbly, but Rublev has a habit of losing matches because he loses it mentally. True champions like Nadal would never give up and fight to the bitter end - make the other guy have to win, rather than lose it yourself. Swiatek similarly came back from the brink against a brilliant Osaka. Rublev is talented and it is his mental state that holds him back from reaching greater heights.
Nobody has dominated a court the way Nadal has. He made the strongest of opponents look simply weak. Djokovic looks hopeless here. Nadal’s greatness and dominance on clay is the most unbelievable sporting achievement. It’s really no contest!

No problemo. Cometh the hour, vometh the man. Pity 2021 didn't work out but novak adjusted better , though this time? Rafa was ready
Djokovic was absolutely not the favorite at any point at Roland Garros lol. Nadal is obviously the better player on clay, even if Djokovic is better player overall.
@@BardhanProductions Prior to 2020 a healthy Rafa was the hands down favorite (except 2015), but with the introduction of the roof in 2020 and considering the event was played in cold damp October conditions with slower heavier Wilson balls for the first time (neither Rafa nor thiem liked the change from the lighter faster babolat balls) and coupled with the fact Rafa had just recovered from injury with a 2-1 clay record, the heavier conditions and lower bounce suited Djokovic for good reasons. Everything was against Rafa and despite his statement the ball felt like a stone in the sinner match he didn't use topspin and hit flat and hard. yet even though the roof was closed in the final due to rain he blasted Djokovic off the court with pace and plenty of spin. I don't how he did it. It just showed he is the greatest at Roland garros but he wouldn't have been able to do this in 2012. His game was far more aggressive and attacking in 2020. 2022 was even more incredible. Yes it was warmer but still played at night for the 2nd time vs Djokovic and he played with one foot and pain killing injections and still won. Will remember both wins forever. Any other day, Nadal comes back to win, but not that day, which made the 2021 RG trophy extra special for Djokovic. As for the other parts, Nadal's game is tailor made for clay. He hits with way more spin than Novak. That alone will always make him the clay favorite.
@@BardhanProductions Disagree all you want. Rafa didn't adjust unlike 2022. Simple as that. Novak led 5-3 in set 3. Rafa broke back and led 6-5 and had a set point. @@laurentcompagna6166 So Nadal's one singles Olympic gold is worth more than 6 World tour finals , 2 masters ( all of them twice ) , 4 slams in a row , 2 Year End Number 1's less , 186 weeks at number 1 less , losing h2h although he does have the winning h2h in slams due to FO mostly .
I am sorry but Novak's career is superior and he will still be competing for longer .
He will likely surpass Nadal in slam count as well , even now Novak is greater than Nadal let alone what he could achieve more .
@@daniel6323 So it's not stats then ?
Ok Dustin Brown is the GOAT you've convinced me .
@@laurentcompagna6166 What exactly are you implying by that ?
Who could’ve thought of djokovic winning the second set by 6-4 after nadal was 2 breaks up and leading by 3-0.
Rafa was godlike
djokovic started winning the french open when nadal was either injured or past their prime
Rafa is the best !
Djokovic really had his chances there.. felt seeing this again that he was anxious sometimes to win the points, could have been other match should he play those points better.
Two légende
8:57 could be the last point ever played between the Big 3... Damn
LOL you're hilarious. Big 2 only - Federer and Nadal. When we talk about greatness, Novak Djokovic sadly is not in the conversation. Coming from a Djokovic fan
@@AnthonyHirschThere's still hope that Rafa & Novak can face off one atleast once (or more) next year. Rafa has slipped off in rankings considerably and could possibly face high ranked opponents (like Novak) in early rounds.
@@tirthankarsarkar4206 definitely true. Will be hoping for it, if Rafa does really intend on taking a break after a long time trying to get back after strenuous practicing at 37 it's gonna be tough. But I hope for it! Rafa is another kind of athlete and a gladiator. As is Novak. We deserve one more

The greatest, although Agassi is my favourite
Yes Djokovic leads all major stats. But Agassi was entertaining for sure.
Mee too. The flamboyant Andre Agassi.

Nadal arguing the call @ 6:31 is pure garbage. Federer or Novak don't do this garbage that I can tell
You can't decide GOAT in any sports still it's been playing by others...
Nadal god bless you.
Can you imagine how many more French open titles Djokovic would of won if it wasn't for Nadal.
Same could be said for Federer pointless statement
@@Agent-hh2kk it isn't pointless, Fed would maybe win titles before 2009, but after that Djokovic was far better on clay than him.
@@peolfpetler8500 Would've won 2011 as well as you may recall he beat Novak in his best year in RG. It's subjective on clay who is better since they are 4-4 on h2h yes Novak would be considered the better clay player in the latter stages but Fed was still good on clay up until 2012. Novak was already an established player by 2007 so you can't just ignore that just cuz he wasn't in his prime.
@Agent-hh2kk djokovic has actually won Rome and Monte Carlo. And he's won it them multiple times. Same with Madrid. Federer is good on clay but for his standard he's severely lacking
@@Agent-hh2kk Yes I know Federer also would have won more French Open too if wasn't for Nadal but just talking about Djokovic in this situation. Not a pointless statement.
1:00 Cillian Murphy is delighted!
Djokovic, Nadal, Federer the only athletes in the history who could be named in one Sentence with
ALI, Jordan and Schumacher
Who needs sentences when just one word is enough. Bolt.
Why Federer? Nadal and Djokovic are ahead than him in Grandslams won.

Upload 3rd set from RG 2021 😉
Not to take anything away from Arnaldi, who played superbly, but Rublev has a habit of losing matches because he loses it mentally. True champions like Nadal would never give up and fight to the bitter end - make the other guy have to win, rather than lose it yourself. Swiatek similarly came back from the brink against a brilliant Osaka. Rublev is talented and it is his mental state that holds him back from reaching greater heights.
those monster forehands from Djokovic, no way other than big 3 match with Novak
Say Goodbye Rafa
I know Federer/Nadal was huge, but really Djoko/Nadal games were the highest level of tennis ever.
Nobody has dominated a court the way Nadal has. He made the strongest of opponents look simply weak. Djokovic looks hopeless here. Nadal’s greatness and dominance on clay is the most unbelievable sporting achievement. It’s really no contest!
I have left watching tennis 🎾 after Rafa withdrew from French open.
Recap: History was made as Djoker won 23.....he was already GOAT but this shutdown debate.
STILL COULDNT UNDERSTAND WHY WE STILL COMPARING THESE 2 LEGENDS. APPRECIATE THEM WHILE THE STILL THERE TO PLAY. FEDERER,DJOKOVICH AND NADAL ARE GOATS. THEY EXCEEDS 20 GRANDSLAMS EACH OF EM.

Stunning battle was in 2021
I’ll be happy if this was the last match they played
I’m glad nadal won im a Federer fan but Rafa comes a very close second
Djoker fans hated losing this one. This firmly established who was the King of Clay in everyone’s mind. Care to argue? Go somewhere else.
2020 and 2022 are his MOST impressive victories at the FO for a number of reasons. His pre FO clay record was 2-1 and 3-2 and he defeated all opposition including novak who was the favorite in both years because of cold heavy conditions/ night match/ 2020 was played indoors.
He had plenty of chances in 2021 but the change from day to night caught him off guard. Still, Im glad he won one more after his statue went up at Roland garros.
@@z1az285 Disagree entirely. Djokovic won 2021 on pure merit, he raised his level to his absolute maximum and was hitting with a ton of power - Nadal wasn't winning it on that day.
He led 2-0 in set 4 before he stopped running because his foot gave out and derailed his season. Novak didn't earn anything against a half crippled nadal other than the fact he was more fit. However in 2022 nadal won against all odds. Novak was absolutely the favorite but was blown off the court because Rafa refused to lose.
@@z1az285 bro wtf is that circular logic. If Nadal beats Djokovic he's a god no excuses, but Djokovic wins meaning Nadal was just too crippled? Stop the bullshit. Nadal 100% could've won that match. Djokovic hit a ton of winners, and Nadal wasn't able to respond despite having some amazing winners himself. Nadal wasn't winning that day. Any other day, probably, but not that day.
He’s going to do this to you next year as well Nole…
