I think this is one of two or three performances I would consider buying from A Cappella Academy. Don't get me wrong, all of the performances are good, but this is great! Awesome synergy between the bass and VP - reminds me a lot of the meat and potatoes from PTX, Kevin and Avi.
I recently saw an a capella group here at our State University in Cobleskill, NY. The group, whose name now escapes me, was from Berkley College of Music in Boston. I feel sure this is the same group! Just great!
WOW! How am I just seeing this one now??!! Really hope these performances go on Spotify like some of the 2014 ones are because I would listen to this on repeat!! =D
+Shakale Davis lol is this you agreeing with me? She's so good omg I found her name Elizabeth is bomb (and I realized from that list that you are the second soloist and you are v bomb as well)
The beginning was ok, but the part that I think was really good was in the middle and towards the end. But the bass and beat box were killing it the whole time.
Fairly well done. The bit where you guys move from the slow tempo to a faster one by gradually speeding up felt odd though. I know it's an intentional speed up, but when done like that it feels.... awkward, for lack of a better term. Especially since the speedy tempo is immediately followed by a pause and a slower tempo after your first chorus. At times the tempo seems all over the place, but then I can only take that as a stylistic choice in varying things at different points as opposed to keeping things at a fairly simple tempo. Risky, and I cannot say the risk paid off properly. A main issue in having so many voices is the fact that your Bass has to fill in that much more sound. In a 7 vs 1 ration, your Bass is doing fairly well, but I believe the sound could have benefited more with a bit more lower end support. Shakale is a lovely soloist, but you need a proper foundation to hold up so many higher tones. Still, credit where credit is do. Izzy is pretty strong and works well with Ryan in keeping up with so many front line voices. You also have two each of Sopranos, Altos and Tenors. The Tenors and Altos blur together with little distinction at times. While this can be good in making you seem louder, it doesn't give much distinction to what you are doing at times. Perhaps it's the song choice, this is my first time hearing you guys and I will endeavor to look through more of your songs to get a better idea, but over all I cannot TELL there are nine different voices working in tandem. If there were a greater distinction between the different parts and how they worked in the song, I might be able to have a better idea of what makes 9LIVE more than just nine bodies on a stage. Speaking of stage work, Izzy, in the beginning it felt like you were hiding from the audience. Choreography can be important since all we have to rely on are your voices and sounds to entertain us, but try to make sure all of you are visible so we can see WHO is making the nice music. Overalll, I give you guys a 'Decent' for this arrangement. 3.5 out of 5. Above average, but I feel you guys have potential to be even greater if you can properly utilize what you have.
+WindFalcon "Please use headphones to hear dat bass" The audio was mixed, that could be why you're not hearing all the distinct parts. Maybe try listening with headphones to enhance your perception...?
+WindFalcon i'm actually listening with headphones and the bass is really big, also i agree with you on the tempo changes it is awkward when they speed up because their tempo was like so chill but as they sped up it's like the groove was lost, but in a way it kinda works because when they came back from chorus into the 2nd verse with the choreo that set it off and the groove came back so in a way i do agree with you but you kinda see why they did it just to mix it up a bit
Can't believe I'm the first one to say... Oh my God that bass was incredible

Kitty Guo
Definitely not 13 lolXD 18-25
No 13-18. That's their admission requirement
Kitty Guo Oh. They looked a lot older so I was just assuming that you had to be older for their admission applications.
Ya ya I know right ahaha~
Ok i could be wrong. But is the girl with the long brown hair in Faux Paz 2016? And I've seen the male lead singer from somewhere else.
The one with long curly brown hair with the red top and black skirt.
how does someone go to that Academy and get accepted
