This week Schony747 is at the well known 1 in 50 graded Ingliston Bank on The Ballarat Line here in Victoria. Turn up the sound for this 4 minute video which represents the Victorian Railway Steam Era from the 1940s and 1950s with fabulous sights and sounds. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Victorian Railways K Class Steam Locomotive, Steamrail Victoria ran a tour to Ballarat with K190 and K183 leading the charge up the steep bank. Diesel Locomotive T395 also ran and pushed from behind and is a representation of the former Victorian Railways blue and gold era. Ingliston Bank is a well known location for all types of trains over many decades struggling up the grade and the sights and sounds from the video represents that!

What sort of train weight would that be? Those old carriages must weigh a fair amount. Epic thrash from the GM as well
No idea about the weight. I was impressed with the T as well. People tend to forget about the stuff working on the back!

Was it all show & smoke or did those 2 loco's actually struggled to make the grade.

Not sure they were struggling exactly, but they're going to make an effort even with diesel assistance on a 1 in 50 with a pretty considerable load - 10 big old timber-framed carriages plus a water tank wagon
K183 lost a bit of pressure on the way up which will explain that as well.
