As a train buff seeing these beautiful EMDs in all their glory is spectacular, as a boy travelling to Sydney inthe sixties and seventies at Christmas id stand on the platform the Spencer Street station and marvel at them. That hum coming from that Detroit engine was just music to ears just the best sounding engine ever made.
Geez how good do the “A’s” look, it’s great that these beautiful locos will be around for a long time to come! (Hopefully) and your selected vantage points really highlight what’s going on! 👍
A62 returns after being out of traffic for a repaint. A62 now wears it's original V/Line orange and grey. A66 and A62 + N471 lead a heritage tour before N471 is dropped off and it's just A66 and A62. Yes there's also some steamrail K class action too. Welcome back A62.
Great videos Adam, was certainly great to see 62 back in V/line orange & gray, would have also been awesome if it had stayed in it's VLP colors but oh well. Wonder when an N and N set will get in the Orange & Gray livery or even the Blood and bone VLP livery would be great to see again. Will also be awesome to see A70 when it comes out in SSR livery
G’day Adam, Great video especially under the wires, hoping you may catch the combo going through Sunshine Rd rail crossing freight only line. At 2:25 where is that location with the boom gates going in the back ground ? Great video Cheers Louis Kats 👍
At the @3:27 mark the condition of the rails has worn down so much there is a definate drop in the train as it goes over the worn section of track.Should that section of track not be replaced ..
They have might still have TPWS on board, train protection warning system. Or with 2 crew members up front they allow it to run at line speed with no restriction last I've read.
Hi Adam, another great video. Did you go to the Steam Rail open long weekend in March? I had a great afternoon on the sunday riding up and down the back lead in track in the A2 steamer. A fantastic day. Cheers Lee.

These were a little different to the Detroit, General motors, but still similar.
Extremely reliable they are, the A's always sounded magic too!

Incredible video! Never seen these things in action, definitely on my list!
Great footage as always. Love the coaches too.

Where was N471 dropped off? And why was it included in the consist anyway?
Southern Cross, maybe just as insurance as it was A62's first run for a while!
@@AUSSIETRAINDRIVERthat sounds quite likely why the N class came along for the ride with A66 and A62
beautiful piece of machinery

Louis Kats 👍
That's spotswood station, they didn't end up running that way, only got them the Sunday on the return.
@@AUSSIETRAINDRIVER 👍👍
I love how the tele lens emphasises the imperfections in our track. And the new mud holes eg. 3:30.

With privatisation and high costs it's unlikely any time soon.
A62 is about to have her ICE Radio fitted
Very nice!
What happens if these locos or diesels s.p.a.d? Can't trip the brakes on them whether it be a train stop or oss/tsss.

@@AUSSIETRAINDRIVER thanks for the reply. Surley vline and metro would have a failsafe system in place with these older loco's.
Other than TPWS they have nothing but driver control and concentration.
Now, thing is, would you like to have a drive of an A class?
I've driven many A's in my time, we may have one coming to freight around September. They are good units.
Magnificent.

Nah was working so couldn't make it. Maybe the next one I hope.
@@AUSSIETRAINDRIVER Hi Adam, thanks for the reply. Next Steamrail open days will be March Labour day long weekend 2026. Cheers Lee.
Awesome 👍
