This was EXACTLY what I needed- just started my 10 mos old Malinois on the E-collar & im so impressed at how it enhanced his known commands! I love the freedom it affords him to be off leash which is why I use this tool. What an amazing adjunct to basic training; when used correctly it’s a tool to afford freedom! Thanks for your awesome videos because sharing your knowledge is priceless & hopefully saving dogs. Happy New Year 🎉

This video helped me so much with my new mini educator. Saved me a whole lot of time trying to figure out all the buttons. Also your eCollar videos really help too with teaching the handler timing on the eCollar and when to use the command and hit the stim. Thank you.

Just read your book. Looking forward to getting started with my two year old boxer. He's a great confident playful dog. He understands all his commands but needs to learn to obey them despite distraction. Now going to order one of these tools. I never understood there correct use until watching your videos and reading your book now I totally see the value.

Thank you so much for this video! I have a six month old blue heeler puppy that I was about to give up on and bought this collar. This is the most pig headed, aggressive, frustrating dog I have ever owned in my life and I have never used an E collar before. I am not an ignorant dog owner. I needed something long distance to correct this dog from chasing chickens, cats, biting the grandkids...but the instructions for the E Collar were not clicking for me. With the help of this video, I not only had a decent working understanding of the collar, but was able to get control of this crazy dog and get some sanity around here...thank you!

I just happened to purchase the same E-Collar you use. However, I wasn't sure how to use it correctly. I watched a bunch of different videos on e-collars but ended up more more confused. This video was terrific, it truly helped me understand how to use the e-collar correctly. I look forward to watching more of your videos. E-Collar Tech should use your video as a how to video. Thank You for taking the time to make these videos. Best of luck during these rough times.

Larry, I want to thank you for providing such a fabulous FREE service here! I think your common-sense approach to training is fantastic and I have already employed some of your methods. I have just purchased the Mini Educator, but first getting a good education on HOW to use it because I don't want to screw this up! I have been watching your videos and very impressed! We have a GSD that is 5.5 months old and just recently his hormones changed and some sudden/different behaviors from him and mostly while walking (but also increased prey drive now). He has done extremely well in his everyday training and very happy and responsive to us. I am very proud of him. However, now he is more reactive to people walking dogs and sometimes will bark or even lunge, but he is friendly when other dogs do finally approach and they interact (I will sometimes give them permission if their dogs are friendly too). He also began to bark and lunge at cars after previously being great about it and often times my neighbors would even roll down the window and talk to me from the car. Not sure why he changed exactly, but this is clearly a dangerous phase and looking forward to stopping this with proper use of the e-collar, so it doesn't become permanent as I find it unacceptable. I also have a prong collar that I have not used yet, but want to shape him first, then thinking about walking with the prong later on or even going off-leash in open settings. He is already well over 70 pounds...just huge, so important to get a grip now. I really wish that more people would see that this is a fabulous training tool that helps to keep not only your dog safe, but everyone around you and helps to shape a great canine citizen in the world! THANKS AGAIN SO MUCH!!

Thank you so much Larry I truly believe you saved my dogs life with your explanation on how to CORRECTLY use an e collar ..My terrier had serious aggression issues when I attempted to use my vacuum ... lunging at the cable & generally going crazy... I tried everything... to correct this behaviour with verbal corrections ... attempts to redirect her attention with tripe sticks which she will mug me for ... not even the smell of her tripe sticks would lure her away .. the final straw was her biting through the cable & tripping my electricity ... clearly a very dangerous situation.... I have used an e collar this morning, used it twice & its worked .... I was naturally apprehensive about using it ....

@@powersmile012 well, in the end I bought both Larry's mini educator (which arrived quickly) and also a cheap one from Amazon in France where I live. I have several dogs. But the mini educator works consistently well and I use only that one. The dog I bought it for never strays far from me now and I don't need a lead. A combination of that, affection and treats has worked wonders. Good luck.

My dog has same e collar. She got back from training 2 months ago. Trainer gave me a 5 minute orientation on it. To be honest I was an idiot. I should have researched this collar better. It was only 3 days ago I watch your other video on it. How stupid was I. I left it where she set it and my GSD was starting to ignore it. I watched ur videos and wow. I set it to continually and now my GSD is responding 100% plus the red now goes off 5 settings higher. I thought my unit was broken. I really did. I kept testing it in my arm it was fine. I put it in her she ignored it. Because she was only getting the bump no matter how long I pressed the buttons. Wow. I feel so stupid. Thank u for helping me.

I like the lanyard because I am training my dog as a service dog, I have many other things going on and that allows it to always be on me, and I normally have my hand on it or at least ready to push the button. But it allows it to not drop. Also, it helps to call my service dog in training to help while in the shower (it is fully water proof) or correct behavior that is unexpected like a knock at the door. So I just always have it around my neck when its on him. Just how I like to use it but yes, I adore the mini educator. I went cheap and it hurt my dog. This one is amazing and has allowed us to do amazing things!

I hope you do a video on the new Mini Educator Finger Trainer. I just got it in the mail for use with my service dog in training, and my plan was to set the finger trainer button to make the little tone noise as a warning to her to stop something (like pulling on the leash for instance) and then use the actual mini educator module to stim her if need be.

I have had this color for 2 years now and i just timed how long it took to fully charge it and it was under an hour. That's after daily use and recharging it almost everyday. I have a 120 pound European doberman and he is very discipline except for when he sees rabbits or squirrels and all hell breaks loose.🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ This is truly the best of all the collar I've tried.

I set my ecollar on m and c that way there is no accidental boost. Settting it for m and c makes it so you have to press both buttons for a boost(which you can still set independent from the working level) and i use only the red button on that setting which in that mode is the continuous button. No accidental boost and still have the option of boost with two botton press.
What do you think of this method? I got it from Jeff Gellman from solid k9 training.

I think you should add the programming of the emergency button also have a question, you said you do not like the vibrate portion of the collar. The collar I got today 12/22/18 has a tone/stimulation button. What is your opinion regarding this Pavlovian association?

  • @shirinzadeh01
    @shirinzadeh01 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Great video. I know you repeated that you don't like the vibrate/tone function, but what if you dog is so sensitive that the vibrate/tone button works to get the correction that you need. My black lab mix dog seems so sensitive that level 1 is a serious stimulation to her and the red button set on 5 as well. It seems that I only have to use the vibrate button to reengage her unless there is a squirrel and the 1-2 times with the red or first Stimulation button stopped that. It seems that I can reengage her now with simply the vibration/tone. Have you ever had that? Thoughts?

  • @carolemuenzer5490

I have a Dogtra I bought about 10 years ago. I bought it solely to teach my dog to walk with me when off leash but it took a while to wean him off the collar. Part of that weaning involved using the vibration mode. I even had a dummy collar I used for a while. The collar did the trick for what I wanted but having watched your clips I see now that I could have accomplished so much more. I feel like I bought a Swiss Army knife and never used anything but the small blade.
Question…I have a new dog. Is it worth buying this Mini-Educator to replace my Dogtra 1900NCP?

I got a Brefac and it works well for my Zoya, always vibrate or noise, I have to charge it overnight. When we go to dog park ,(she has fear aggression) when she starts going after a dog to pick on it, I will say leave it and if she keeps going I tap it and she stops and what a difference. I wish I had known about this when I first got her. If she would smell or a dog She would go bazerk. Back and forth and whining , barking. I always have it in my hand.

E-collar is the best thing I have ever done for my dog! It’s crazy! These dogs are smarter than they look, they just choose to ignore certain owners because they can. With this E-dollar, my dog response changed like crazy! And in two days I didn’t even have to use it as much unless she was really distracted with a squirrel or crazy cat. I have a 6month old GSD btw. I’ll advice anyone to save up and buy this one!! The price is worth it! Trust me!!

First really appreciate the videos, just have a question about how to stop my six months old German shepherd from killing our chickens?

Hi Larry! Is continuous just a little longer than a momentary stim or does it mean it continues until you turn it off? Also, would the boost only apply in Act of God scenarios (as mentioned in the video where you go over the fact that it should be a truly RARE act of God - life or death scenarios)? Or would you use it in distracting environments where the working level at home may not be enough to get their attention?

I just read the manual and I believe continuous goes for 10 seconds and then turns off in case it is accidentally being pressed (so it won't go for minutes on end and confuse the dog).

Hi Larry, how do I adjust the red button level? Thanks!

Figure it out? In M mode- change the intensity to 0 then hold the S button for about 5 seconds, the intensity level will change from 0 to 1, then set it to what you want your boosts increments to be. So if you want it to be 5 higher than your set point, put it to 5. Make sure to change your normal mode back to where you want it after.

Not until 5-6 months old depending on the dogs temperament.
