This was a great episode. One of the best. Get the Flyin Hawaiian next.
That first generation of freestylers, the racers, they were godfathers of that whole scene and so cool!
Tomcat…is a survivor from the og’s of freestyle…good stuff!
There are several that did not survive it. You make a good point
@@jdc8352because he didn’t add the backflip to his arsenal. Backflips retired a lot of guys that valued their life.
It's fun hearing the San Diego riding stories. I live in Tierrasanta and rode several El Cajon and Santee tracks/areas that Tommy did. We got chased at Los Coches by helicopters as well. We'd ride Tommy and Mike Craig's tracks when they were not there, ha. Great era to moto.
Stoked to see Tommy on the show!
Been waiting for this one for a good while. One of the pioneers! Also really enjoyed watching him on the series “The Great Ride Open” Enjoyed the episode
Loved that show on fuel tv
Great guy! Very relaxed interview, I like that...
Your show is always good Mr Ping
man what a great show ping!!! So cool to hear from the tom cat . Remember the "cat walk"? ! dude was pre narls
Great show Ping! I'm a FedEx driver and really enjoy listening to all my Motocross podcast while working ! Sometimes I enjoy the podcast so much it takes my concentration away from work and I may end up Miss delivering a package oops my bad! 😂
Just make sure you get parts delivered and it's all good 😁🛠️🔧
Tommy's era had about 20 cool jump videos. I would rank SMP's disturbing the peace the best movie slightly over a video Ping would remember called Ride MX. Also the finish line jump seems like it wouldve made more sense for the SMP team to do tricks over than 75 foot triple 10 feet out of a corner.
He sounds like McGrath when he talks! Great interview!!
Tomcat ! Awesome show Ping!!
This is a great guest ping! Thanks 🏁
what it is about us moto guys who are also "sparkys"?? ive been an electrician since high school
Was tomcat in Frezno Smooth?…need to find the old tape and play it anyway…luv that mx era…hahaha the fro…
I bought one of Donald Upton's '94 bikes from ncy, that was an awesome bike !!
Grew up riding palm ,117 lots of fun and lots of pros would ride there and before still supercross. Don't forget bear killer straight up
AWESOME
Tomcat. Let's good 🔥
This whole conversation about letting your children follow your career is fantastic Ping... I am the same... would not let my kids do what I did..
Where's Mike Craig at?

He's a nice guy and I liked him back in the early FMX days so I will spare Garfield Clowers from all the very easy fat jokes
2:41:30 - India can be a very good place for formerly-great riders. Just in 2023, they created the "Indian Supercross Racing League", which is a series where the main prize isn't individual but to teams competing in 3 classes. There were 450F, 250F and 250F Asian classes (trust me, Indian and Chinese guys needed to be separated from the Australians, Europeans and such) and each team had 2 riders per class. It's clearly a gimmick to make the people care for the 250F Asian races but it was cool and they also made football-esque shirts to help people know who's riding for each team. You can live off supercross all year long, you just have to travel a lot!
FUN FACT - There's an internet challenge/game/joke when it comes to India's cleanliness. Go to India on Google Maps, zoom in to any city, activate Streetview... and see if there's any garbage by spinning around. You can make it a drinking game with your buddies, there's gonna be a lot of drinking.
How did TomCat want to be remembered Ping?
odd cutoff
We had a tech glitch… just as a guy who adapted to change. He was great at it.
Tomcat was cool when being cool was cool…
Catherines rig was built by her husband Patric, a very kind and interesting guy. They had no kids but a lot of time for us. I cannot believe she is still in business, she must be 70+ if not 80 years old now...
Is Ping dying his hair? Asking for a friend
great podcast now we need mike craig up next
I don't think he'd come across very well.
