The novel on which this is based was probarly the fastest I've ever read a novel. It was perfect, Blake nailed everything about the novel. I cannot wait, this looks equally amazing.

I was thinking this exact thing. The mistery of not knowing who kidnapped him is an amazing part of the book and they took that away. I was expecting them to spoil it though, considering how trailers nowadays show the whole movie.
Not a negative for me. The book dragged on at that part when we clearly know who did it. It’s not even relatively a new concept these days like when it was released.

Read the book, people, is truly mind blowing. One of the best sci fi thriller novels in last decade. The own book writer (Blake Crouch) it´s the showrunner of the adaptation ,so will probably be great and faithful. A book about the multiverse before this theme became the new model of movies and shows and even so this novel have new concepts of multiverse and parallel worlds.
completely agree. i don’t normally read sci-fi but the book blew me away, so much so i was hoping for a movie or a series. so glad apple’s the one that did it - their shows are really good. although i wish they didn’t give a major spoiler in the trailer!

I just finished this masterpiece and i can say this is one of the best series I’ve watched in a long time and i don’t know if others who watched it experienced this but i got emotional in some episodes thinking if we can have this door to change our reality to go back and choose differently or stay in a reality where our loved once are alive 😢 i started another show called severance and omg im hooked! Apple tv has really good shows!

Yeah, but I wanted this to be a movie with a cinematic release in theaters. And I pictured Chris Nolan directing it. I didn't think it would be a mini series on Apple+ TV, one of the least popular streaming services. Don't get me wrong. The show looks good, but I can't help but to feel a little cheated. I am not interested in Apple+ TV, and I am reluctant to get it, but I want to watch this show.
Really excited about this having read the book but it’s such a shame there’s so many massive spoilers in the trailer! Much better for viewers to start out in the character’s shoes with absolutely no idea what’s going on. Kinda ruins it for them tbh
Agree completely! I read the book knowing nothing about it before I started (a friend said I should read it and that was it). One of the best reading experiences of my life, thinking the book would be one thing and then it shifting 3 or 4 times throughout. I now read all new Blake Crouch books this way - going in knowing nothing about the plot.
I don't know anything about this show or the book so I don't know what spoiler you're talking about I read one comment saying they ruined the biggest spoiler by revealing who's the big villain who kidnapped him etc... and I'm like "uh", it wasn't a big spoiler at all, literally one of the most used trope in the parallel universe genre like if you actually read the book and learned about him waking up in a new world where the people he seem to know don't know him and the one who know him he has no idea who they are, you don't have to be a genius to realize that he's in a parallel universe and if he's here, the him of this world is definitely in his world. I think them revealing it in the trailer mean they will likely disclosed it from episode 1 which I think is good because I would have been annoyed that they keep us waiting for such an obvious reveal. Other than that, as someone who knows nothing about the book, I have no idea what spoilers have I just watched so I don't think they revealed anything that important. But obviously because you read the book, you're gonna pick up on every little detail you see because you're already know the whole story of the show. However, someone who watched this blind ain't picked up on all these things you considered as spoilers. It happens all the times with show/movies based on book or other known material. People who already know the premise talk about spoilers due to details that anybody who doesn't know the story can't see or understand.
The book this is based on is really good. If the series captures the spirit of the book (and it looks like it does based on the preview), it's going to be a great. I'm glad they chose to do a series vs a movie as it would be a challenge to translate the book to a 2 hour treatment.

i bought the book on 11th april unknowingly that its releasing a series ...and after covering 100 pages of the book ...when i searched for a playlist to cover the rest of the book i found out the trailer of it and trust me ...when i saw the trailer and everything that i imagined while reading the book is same as the scene shown in the trailer..i was just amazed ...like shocked and yeah from the beginning i knew that it might be jason who abducted him in another world..and its true ..although i would be happy to get to know this while reading the book...that would have left me more amazed..anyhow the book is too good
Just finished it - brilliant sci-fi/horror show, with a surprisingly strong twist ending that commits and resolves well. Jennifer Connelly and Joel Edgerton deliver great performances - wonderful to see Connelly in a prominent role.

Just the other week i was talking to my girlfriend telling her Hollywood keeps regurgitating the same old ideas. Prequels, Sequels nobody asked for, remakes, more comic book movies.....nothing ORIGINAL! I read this book a few years ago and i literally used it as an example of a book that should be turned into a series. It's original and a great story. Then today i happen to see DARK MATTER title for a trailer and think....OMFG! I'm so glad this is a series. They can explore and tell more of the story over many episodes. Movies never really do books any justice. I can't wait.
Bro nowadays Multiverse is not alien concept. People are used to it. Despite the book served as the start of it, show has come really at the middle or last of it. Everyone would have comparison to that of earlier ones as originals.
Your issue is you're too concerned about Hollywood. There's a whole world of storytellers out there and you need to spend some time watching indie films
I've read the book. This trailer didn't spoil anything that you don't know in the first couple chapters. Finding out that the villain is another version of himself isn't really a twist at all, it's the narrative hook. There really is no twist in this story. It's pretty straight-forward and fun to experience. The book does a great job of making you appreciate what you have in life. I read it about 5 years ago and to this day it stops me in my tracks any time I start to think I should have done something different with my life. Hopefully the show captures that. But rest assured, the point of this story is not some plot twist (which is an extremely tired trope that I wish would die off.) I HIGHLY recommend the book. It's a real life-changer (for the better.)

Uh...the villian is NOT a spoiler as he's revealed by page 50 of the novel. And as I predicted, at only 4 episodes in, they've already passed every scene in this trailer. And the show still has several episodes left and even added a couple subplots. Why are those who say "gave everything away" are also the ones who never read the book in the first place?

Those people are allowed to enjoy and be surprised by the twists and turns of watching it and discovering plot points for the first time. Though I get what the other commentator said about the point isn’t being about that arguable “plot twist”, I think it would have still been nice to be surprised by that along with everything else as we watch.
I haven't read any novel in years, but came across Blake Crouch's Recursion which led me to Dark Matter. These two books. Truly the best and most fun I've had reading in a long time. They are so vivid and engaging. Def read the books if you can.

I think they're trying to merge tv shows and movies together and make movies into a multiple part series probably to go along with the whole streaming thing, but at the moment it's only really this multiple part hollywood movies. I mean i don't see why they can't still make an entire movie and edit it all into one movie still, except they can use smaller production companies now, so i think they want to go with that instead. I don't want these fast multiple part movies to be the only thing that's being made though and currently it is.

Really good series! I read the novel a few years ago and was a great read ! Watching this series makes me want to read it again. Although it is hard to make a cinematographic experience as complete as a novel, this series was a pleasure to watch. Awell made series in my opinion has a better chance of capturing more than a movie.
I can’t wait to see the whole last act. I think it’s going to be very challenging to not just have it look completely ridiculous. Absolutely love the book bit worried about the show. The guy playing Jason is gonna need some grade A acting for the whole last act

I've read the book. This trailer didn't spoil anything that you don't know in the first couple chapters. Finding out that the villain is another version of himself isn't really a twist at all, it's the narrative hook. There really is no twist in this story. It's pretty straight-forward and fun to experience. The book does a great job of making you appreciate what you have in life. I read it about 5 years ago and to this day it stops me in my tracks any time I start to think I should have done something different with my life. Hopefully the show captures that. But rest assured, the point of this story is not some plot twist (which is an extremely tired trope that I wish would die off.) I HIGHLY recommend the book. It's a real life-changer (for the better.)
@@mokka_commentry Then you haven't read the book. There is not one second in this trailer about the 2nd and 3rd act psychedelic plot twists. Don't assume so quickly.
Uh...the villian is NOT a spoiler as he's revealed by page 50 of the novel.
And as I predicted, at only 4 episodes in, they've already passed every scene in this trailer. And the show still has several episodes left and even added a couple subplots.
Why are those who say "gave everything away" are also the ones who never read the book in the first place?
@@SpreadingtheMuse because clearly not everyone who’ll be watching the series will have read the book? Those people are allowed to enjoy and be surprised by the twists and turns of watching it and discovering plot points for the first time.
Though I get what the other commentator said about the point isn’t being about that arguable “plot twist”, I think it would have still been nice to be surprised by that along with everything else as we watch.
I haven't read any novel in years, but came across Blake Crouch's Recursion which led me to Dark Matter. These two books. Truly the best and most fun I've had reading in a long time. They are so vivid and engaging. Def read the books if you can.
I am not sure how I feel about the trailer spoiling the big life swap reveal. But it looks great 👍

Still, odd choice but maybe they're restructured the show so that it's revealed much earlier.
@anonymes2884 Honestly, I read this awhile ago, and I read this twice ... one of my all-time favorites... I just hate this choice as a trailer ... regardless of when we figured it out, I feel that point is moot ... this trailer should have been scraped the day it was made... I love this story too much for them to do this...
This book was fantastic! I thought the rumor was it was going to be made into a movie, but a series will do. Looks great!
I think they're trying to merge tv shows and movies together and make movies into a multiple part series probably to go along with the whole streaming thing, but at the moment it's only really this multiple part hollywood movies. I mean i don't see why they can't still make an entire movie and edit it all into one movie still, except they can use smaller production companies now, so i think they want to go with that instead. I don't want these fast multiple part movies to be the only thing that's being made though and currently it is.

Really good series! I read the novel a few years ago and was a great read ! Watching this series makes me want to read it again. Although it is hard to make a cinematographic experience as complete as a novel, this series was a pleasure to watch. Awell made series in my opinion has a better chance of capturing more than a movie.

Act 4 is something that should occur in literally almost every REDACTED story but never does. Loved it.
It ends basically the same way the wayward novels ended. Crouch copied himself.
I can’t wait to see the whole last act. I think it’s going to be very challenging to not just have it look completely ridiculous. Absolutely love the book bit worried about the show. The guy playing Jason is gonna need some grade A acting for the whole last act

Amazing series!!! Apple is finally on same level as HBO for best place to see good tv shows. I actually watched! When I sub Netflix, I could never finished any of the shows because the writings were so horrible.
