Soo when Caraxes kills Vhagar, he didn't defeat her cuz he died because of his wounds shortly after as well? If you defeat someone but you also die of your wounds, you still defeated said someone. Caraxes struck the killing blow on to Vhagar, so he defeated her. Oh and Vermithor fought a 1v2 vs Seasmoke and Tessarion, killed Seasmoke by ripping his head off, tried to take flight with the head in his mouth, but his wings were tattered and he fell and died. Tessarion did not kill Vermithor.

Vhagar normally is not even a strong dragon.. She's just considered strong because of her size. Caraxes actually wracked her. Cannibal and Vermithor could easily take her out 1v1 as well.
