    These are the 6 main pathways. If your situation doesn't match 1 of these 6 options, there will still be a pathway for you! Hello 😁....I was just curious about subject choices. I hear people saying that one needs history instead of Geography in order to study law but what if I took Geo instead of History in highschool. Will I still be able to study law in Australia?

    Hi, I’m in year 10 hoping to study in law after high school. I think I want to go to Monash university, but I don’t think I will get the ATAR required. What do you think is the best option for me?

      Hey! Thanks so much for commenting!
      Entry pathways can be a little complicated and the best one for you will depend on a lot of factors. So unfortunately, unless I knew more about your specific situation, I wouldn't know the absolute best one for you personally :/ On top of that, as you are still in Year 10, the schemes that may be available when you apply for uni will likely be very different to today. So, at this stage, I would prioritise learning about how the systems that surround uni applications works (i.e. VTAC, Selection Rank vs ATAR, Adjustment Factors) and then at the beginning of Year 12 start looking into the schemes that will be available to students planning to start in the following year. There may be an Early Entry Scheme you can apply for!
      As a rough guide, we also suggest students take at least these 2 steps:
      1. Evaluate your situation. Before you can know which pathway best suits you, you need to understand where you are now and what is important to you when it comes to study. The following questions are part of our Pathways Checklist. Ask yourself these questions and that will get you on the right track:
      What is my academic history? Did I get an ATAR (if applicable)? Have I completed any other qualifications (Certificate, Diploma, Bachelor, etc..)?
      Am I ready to jump straight into my dream-degree or do I need an enabling course beforehand? Would I like some extra study to improve my academic skills?
      Where do I stand financially? Could I pay for tuition fees up-front if I needed to or do I require a HELP-loan?
      What is my availability like? Can I study full-time or do I need something part-time to allow myself time to work while studying?
      Do I have a rough idea of the area of study I would like to go into? Single degree/double degree?
      Do I have a potential career in mind?
      2. Speak to an expert. The best way to discover what pathways are out there is to speak to an expert, we actually offer one-on-one help for students moving into Higher Education (www.yourcompass.com.au/) but other than us you could speak to a career's advisor or the specific unis you are interested in and they should be able to give you the details of what they offer and answer any questions you may have.
      Hope that helps 😁

    I’m a 2021 graduate I feel like law is for me I haven’t done legal studies I do further maths literature good studies business management is there a pathway I can do that is still in university

    • @MajellaandConnor
      @MajellaandConnor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most likely! Although, I cannot be sure of your eligibility until I know more about your situation, there are many pathways for aspiring law students that start from within a university! On top of that, many universities do not require that students complete Legal Studies in High School!

    Hey! Im in yr 11, I just wanted to ask what happens if I don't get a band 6 or possibly a 5 in English, would that affect my entry?

    • @MajellaandConnor
      @MajellaandConnor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Gabrielle! Great question - it really depends on the uni and the method of entry. Some unis will give you entry BASED OFF the particular bands you get in subjects like English (for e.g. MQ academic entry program). But if for e.g. you got a band 4 in English and still got a high enough ATAR or got entry through another entry program - your band 4 in english might not be a problem. It's always a good idea to check with each uni as it varies depending on the uni and the entry program!!

    I studied law in my country for six years, I'm a graduated student law in 2020, here the program are twelve semesters (six years) very long, but I can't work here because you can to entry to a practical legal in less one year graduation but the pandemic closed my way and without experience I can't work here. So, I have a degree in bachelor of laws but I want to be a lawyer in Australia because universities help their students in legal experience. I think a jurisdoctor program suits for me, but I don't have IELTS or TOEFL test neither SAT... I'm 24 years. Can I get into a Australian University?

      @MajellaandConnor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much for watching! Unfortunately, we are not super familiar with the entry requirements for international students. If you were to contact a universities that you are interested in, they should be able to provide more information with regards to the entry criteria and whether or not you would be eligible to apply! Best of luck 😁

    Nice video, I graduated in Bachelors of commerce (Accounting) 3 years ago. I recently moved to ACT and want to go to ANU Law school, is JD the best pathway for me?

    • @MajellaandConnor
      @MajellaandConnor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much for commenting Amrit and apologies for the delay in responding! While I don't have enough information to know exactly which pathway would suit you best, I can give you some things to look into/think about that will hopefully help you make the decision.
      To begin, even though you have already completed a bachelors degree, that does not mean you have to do a JD to study Law. Students with other bachelors degrees may decide that doing a bachelor of law is better suited to them and that is perfectly fine.
      One thing to consider is that generally JD programs will have higher entry requirements and may require that you have achieved a high GPA or WAM during your bachelors/previous study.
      Another thing to consider is JD programs are usually shorter in length when compared to the Bachelor of Law however depending on the fee structure and the type of offer you receive the cost to study a JD will vary dramatically! I have seen JD programs that are triple the price of other JD program. So it is very important to pay attention to the fees.
      There are many other things to consider but hopefully this helps in some way :)

    Currently, I am in Year 11 and want to study law after school, I want to do a Bachelor of Laws at either ACU, WSU, NDA, UNSW, USYD or MQU but I don't think I can get the ridiculously high 95+ ATAR to get in. What is the best option for me?

      I would be happy to help! With regards to Law Admission Tests, only a few universities in Australia actually require them. When I personally got into Law School I did not have to complete a test. If you would like some more personal support, check out my website: www.yourcompass.com.au/compass-consults

    I’m about to start a psychology degree and I didn’t meet the 90 atar for Law. How well do I have to do in my Degree to be able to internally transer to law? Thanks

    • @MajellaandConnor
      @MajellaandConnor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can ask your uni about the "internal transfer requirements for law". Normally there are specific subjects you need to study and certain grades you need to get. In my case I needed a Distinction Average - but this will vary between unis - so definitely ask them :) (You can also try googling "internal transfer requirements law at ___ uni")
