If you're looking to apply for university next year, we have designed a short course that goes through everything step-by-step. It covers how to order your preference list, how applications are assessed and how to get multiple offers! Check it out: yourcompass-university.thinkific.com/courses/application-optimisation
Thank you so much for this video! HSC, Uni options, HECS etc is a lot of information all at once, and hearing other people's stories is so comforting to know there is a path for everyone!! Thank you again ❤️
It's truly our pleasure! Seriously! We often say that understanding how the higher education system works could be a degree in and of itself hahaha Just in case you haven't seen it, we made a full HECS breakdown video if you want to get your head around it all: th-cam.com/video/IBCISj7aZx8/w-d-xo.html
Hi ik it’s a 4 yr old video n chances of u replying is v low but I’m an international student and although I can get into unis in my country, I studied in an intl school and everyone goes abroad, I studied IB. So I’ll have to study in a pathway Programme and I got into the deakin college and if I study there and get 50/100 I can directly enter second year of my bachelor into deakin uni but deakin qs ranking is 197 and I also got into Trinity college which is part of university of Melbourne and I need 80 to get into unimelb but I can only enter the first year of uni but qs ranking is 13. I’m already 19(September 05 born) so if I start the pathway program in 2025 July, I’ll almost be 20. What would u do? Ik uni rankings don’t mean anything for jobs in Australia but idk if I wanna settle down there or move elsewhere (probs move somewhere else)and I heard qs ranking matters a lot in other countries for jobs and I’m doing design (UI UX) so I’m only planning to do bachelors , never masters so pls suggest what I should do😭😭
I graduated in '22 with a QCE and I applied at UNISQ to study veterinary nursing and got in, but I decided to not go with UNISQ because I wasn't 100% it was what I wanted. Now I'm moving to the States in a few months, so I'm glad that I didn't study with UNISQ. But the only problem now is that I don't know if I will be able to get into an American University because I don't have a GPA, let alone an Atar. If anyone has some advice/knowledge on this topic please let me know!
Great question! It really depends on the institution you are applying for and the specific enabling course you have done. If the enabling course fits within the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), meaning it is equivalent to a Cert IV/Diploma/etc, then there is a higher chance it will be recognised however it's always best to contact the university directly to ask :)
Definitely! The pathway program I undertook was available to all ages. In fact, there are some pathway programs that are only available to mature age students 😁
i’m in year 8 and haven’t been to school since march-april, it’s now august (don’t plan on going back at all). i just can’t handle it anymore interacting/socialising with people anymore i cant. i really want to switch to homeschooling online or something that i can do alone. but i also don’t know if i’m able to get a job at all since i haven’t been to school :/ (i apologise if this doesn’t make sense) (;´༎ຶٹ༎ຶ`)
Thank you so much for reaching out and asking for help. Don't worry, it made complete sense and it is very smart and brave of you to be exploring your options! However, while there are pathways into further study for students who did not complete school, it is always recommended that students try their very best to complete high school because it will be much easier to progress onto further study and/or work if they do. I would highly suggest reaching out to someone at your school like the Careers's Advisor, Guidance Counsellor or Year Coordinator and try speaking to them about your concerns and they will be able to provide some qualified advice on your options and what you should do. I hope everything works out!
hy could i still go to uni after not taking any ATAR subjects? i’m currently in year 11 taking a general course and im not sure if i’ve made the right choice. i also recently moved to aus and have no understanding of atar 😭
Definitely! There are actually many uni entry pathways that don't require any ATAR. Now, obviously if you could choose to do an ATAR, we would recommend that because it gives you more options but even without an ATAR entry is still easily achievable. As a very quick example, you could study university subjects right now (as long as you are over the age 13) through Open Universities Australia (OUA) and this does not even require that you have finished high school! I hope that all makes sense but please feel free to schedule a chat with me or Majella if you want some specific help for your situation: www.yourcompass.com.au/register-kickstarter-call
Hey bro, I’m stressing really hard because I recently failed essential maths in yr 11 and I’m now doing a short math course which is lower then essential, do you think I’ve failed and that I can’t do anything without maths in life or is there opportunities to get to uni without a high math
You have nothing to worry about, man! While understanding numbers can be helpful when pursuing further education, it is definitely not the make or break. Not only do you NOT need maths to get a good ATAR (99.35 ATAR without any Mathematics: th-cam.com/video/sEQvO7ynrXI/w-d-xo.html) but most degrees, and careers for that matter, will NOT require a specific level of high school mathematics in order to perform at the necessary level. Are you in Year 12 now and do you know what you might want to do after school?
Of course, mate! As you will hear me say all the time, there is always a pathway! Majella and I offer a free Kickstarter Call where we learn more about your situation and see whether or not we can help you. If you want, you can schedule a call for free on this webpage: www.yourcompass.com.au/register-kickstarter-call
Great question Sean! Just to confirm, are you asking if one could get into an accounting course with having completed a carpentry qualification but not having completed Year 12? If so, the answer is yes! Many institutions (universities, TAFE, etc...) offer pathways into their courses that don't require a Year 12 Certificate. For starters, if the carpentry qualification was equivalent to a Cert IV or Diploma, then it may be as simple as applying through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) or directly to the institution. Otherwise, pathways like 'non-award study' and OUA are great even if the carpentry qualification wasn't equivalent to a Cert IV or Diploma. Let me know if you have any further questions and I will assist as best I can. Otherwise, you can book a free Kickstarter Call to speak with one of our Higher Education Experts about your specific situation: www.yourcompass.com.au/register-kickstarter-call Best of Luck!
Probably too late but just call the professor at the university in the entry level course you want to enter they basically will see you as a big pile of money, if a bunch of Indians that can't speak english can qualify, you can. Just remember that HEC is a debt.
The exact pathway I used was an option for international students too! However, this may not be the case for other universities that offer similar programs. The one major difference at my university though was the fees. Unfortunately, for international students the cost would be quite a lot more and they wouldn’t be offered the same government loans schemes offered to domestic students. Hope that helps 😁
Of course! As I mention in the video, there is a pathway into university for just about any situation. For example, there is an institution called Open Universities Australia (OUA) and they host 1000s of online university subjects that are offered by top universities from across Australia (such as ANU, UNSW & UTS). These are university level subjects and a lot of the time, they are the exact same subjects the on-campus students study. The crazy thing is, for most subjects, the only entry criteria is that you are over the age of 13! No ATAR requirement, No high school requirement. So, many students will study 2-8 subjects through OUA and then use that to apply for their dream degree at the university they are interested in! Now, this is just one option and there are many more! So, if this one doesn't suit you, it will just be a matter of looking through your options to find the right one! I hope that was helpful. If you need any more help in finding the right pathway for you, I would love to help where I can. Here is a link to our website with more information: www.yourcompass.com.au/register-kickstarter-call
I have finished year 12 without an ATAR. I’ve been trying to get into the defence force by first going through the Navy for a year. I’m not sure if it works out.
It most certainly is!! There are a tonne of REALLY good pathways, and a few not very good ones (where you pay heaps of money & it takes extra time) so make sure you do your research before picking a pathway. If you need help with this, feel free to reach out to us at hello@yourcompass.com.au. Congrats on finishing btw :)
Honestly, I loved my time at Macquarie! From the relationships I had with the academic staff to things as simple as the vibe of the campus, studying at MQU was a really fun and transformative time in my life :)
Hi Sandra, We sure do! Recently, we have actually seen an increase in the amount of Victorian students reaching out (probably due to the uncertainty caused by COVID). As a result, we are very familiar with the different schemes that have been introduced to help these students. Did you have any questions you needed answered? Feel free to reply to this comment and I will assist as best I can. Otherwise, you can book a free Kickstarter Call to speak with one of our Higher Education Experts about your specific situation: www.yourcompass.com.au/register-kickstarter-call

If somebody is doing an enabling pathway course through one university, would it be recognized by a different university?

Did mature students can get into bachelor degree from pathway program ? If they are old ?

man the beginning hit hard for me
haha Seriously! The importance of the ATAR is way overhyped and it just stresses Year 12 students way too much!

Could I do an accounting course without going to yr 12 and do like a carpenter degree instead? I'm in nsw btw idk if that makes a difference lol
