    I like vlogs. I don't think it matters much when the footage was filmed, if the end result is fun to watch. I go back and watch old vlogs all the time.

    I relate so hard to the toddler-related burnout. Spending all day with a toddler is intense and non-stop, especially for an introvert, as you have to be "on" all the time and constantly have another person climbing all over you. It doesn't leave much left at the end of the day. I don't have any advice (not that you asked for it), but you are not alone in feeling this way.

    I think the parenting burnout is a major issue that isnt being talked about out addressed nearly enough. We have so much more parenting information, for better or worse, than older generations. Its great because it will hopefully mean our children grow up with tools we didn't, however to achieve it puts massive strain on us. I wish more of the parenting content talked about this part. That yes, it is so much healthier to parent our kids with respect, patience, and kindness, but how do we ensure it is sustainable when doing so is majorly draining.

    • @Thevietvegan
      @Thevietvegan  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It does seem like a leaky boat doesn't it. I have all the tools but so many holes to patch at once and I think people had more of a village than most parents have nowadays. One of the things I realized about parenthood is that you have to parent yourself and heal your inner child while simultaneously keeping yourself regulated to parent your child. It's bonkers.

    I love it when one of your video's pop's up to watch, I'd love to see a video of you making the hiananese paste, specifically because you know exactly how it's supposed to taste, I can't imagine anything here in Ireland is really close to how it should be, please consider doing one on the paste as I desperately wanted to eat what you made as I was watching it. Anyway, lovely to see you and I'm sure we would all love to watch your vlogs no matter how old they are. Much love xx

    Offering encouragement from someone whose child survived being raised by a stressed, burned-out, confused mom! 😅 I offer parents of toddlers the validation that what they like or want to do changes by the moment, it is indeed nearly impossible to get much of anything done while trying to keep a very active toddler alive, and yes, your own self does actually disappear from your daily reality. For me, raising a child was 5 years of intensive focus on them and very little energy left for myself. Lisa, you are absolutely correct when you speak of the bittersweet nature of watching their babyhood leave and be replaced by what is, quite frankly, not as adorable. I can definitely say there will be more sweet and adorable moments to come, but they will be very different types of sweetness. You are doing a good job trying to understand your child and balance what they want with what they need. Hang in there!

    • @Thevietvegan
      @Thevietvegan  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      This is very validating and makes me feel less like a failure of a human haha. Over the past year or so I have constantly questioned if something were wrong with me because I can't do half the things I used to be able to do anymore because I just am so tired at the end of the day. I had promised myself at the beginning of this journey that I wouldnt lose my sense of self and lo and behold, a year into parenthood I had completely lost sight of who I was anymore.

      @@Thevietvegan Yes, I understand. I think it is worse for moms at this time because of a couple of factors. Most of you were raised by GenX moms who were killing ourselves to be full-time at everything - mom, spouse, professional - and "never let them see you sweat". Plus, a lot of us were functionally single parents, even if there was a spouse/partner/father in the house. We were mostly a wreck on some level and I think many of our children developed a list of What I Will Never Do As A Parent, not realizing that a large amount of what their moms did was because they were a mom,not a crazy Gen Xer and it would be the same for Millennial moms. Final super-stressor for all of your generation are the norms, values and expectations presented by social media. Lifestyle and Mommy Bloggers are all presenting unattainable ideals. Even if you never watch one of these types of vlogs or videos, their reach is ubiquitous. Please be kind to yourself and to your marriage. As a viewer, I can see via your recipe development that you strive for excellence. I can relate. I eventually evolved to see that excellence is everyone is still alive at the end of the day. This is not forever, even though it absolutely feels like it and you don't know if you can keep doing this, you're doing it wrong, etc. We as moms, if we are honest, will always find memories with our children that we deeply wish we could have done differently. Doing the best you can in the moment, whatever that might be, however small/unimportant it might seem, is the most loving thing you can do for yourself and your Bean. 💞

    Lisa, I loved this, thank you. You are raising an amazing human being so feeling tired or burnt out is completely understandable. Been following you for about 6.5-7 years now and I would love to see those vlogs from last year if you ever get around to it. Also love the fact that you are using they/them pronouns for your child and the reasoning behind it. Such interesting recipe ideas! Gusta is amazing, have you tried the plant-based Tuna from dollorama yet (Tuno)? JUST learned it even exists haha, and from Dollorama out of all places.

    No dull days watching your content! I particularly love the voiceover you've given to SO MANY recipes. I send you love and burn-out companionship, if that would ever help. And, as so many other comments say - no content is old content, all content is content!
    And, if it helps - the pronunciation of gol gappas is "goal g-appa-s" or the easier way to refer to it is paani puri, which you pronounced correct;y! :)

    Lisa! I'm sorry to hear about the burnout. I really wish you could have gotten some kickback from two recent purchases that you inspired- I bought the black sesame drink- and I've been really enjoying it. I also ordered the Ketchup Cheetos from Canada for a ridiculous amount of money ($60 for two bags) , and they are OK. Not as delicious as I was hoping, but I am recently diagnosed with Crohn's Disease and I"m on prednisone, and my taste is all off. My kids were excited to try them though. I am here for any vlog content you wan to put out!

    Hey Lisa, thankful for any videos you put out in this difficult time. My sister is in a very similar phase of life so I see the challenges firsthand. I made your chocolate chip pumpkin muffins recipe and they turned out great! But just a heads up there's no temperature to bake at on your recipe so I guessed 350 and they were a little bit underdone so wondering what temperature you bake them at?

    I’m also trying to navigate burnout… with a 3yo even!
    We passed the picky stage about 6 months ago and now they’re back to eating everything I eat. It felt like it took forever to get out of the “mac n cheese” phase, but fortunately we’re back to adventurous eating. The most recent new try was cabbage soup. And they ate what seemed like an entire cabbage!

      Oh man I'm so happy you're past it!! I can hold off for another few months, hopefully my kid follows suit with yours haha. A 3 year old seems so far off to me, and I can only imagine the burnout is hard at that age because they are capable of so much more 😅

    I didn't catch the name of the dish, but the set it and forget it with the rice, tofu and broccoli looks just up my aisle. Trying to figure out how to use all our ingredients in our home has been a struggle for me, so trying to plan a bit more and seeing how far groceries go has contributed to a bit of burnout for me. :/ It's a tough season with the cost of things rising!
