my mother would use decade old seasoning😅 lol and it was fine..might be a lil bland though...😄 but i say use your intuition and smell it first or taste a pinch i realized once that i was using 10 year old ground cloves as a teen...it tasted fine actually but pretty bland
I used to love tuna noodle casserole! My mom would always top it with Lay's potato chips and cook it in the microwave lol. I have been wanting to improve her old recipe for a while now so thanks for the inspo!
@@MsIdgie1 In my home too... My son does not eat any eggs, flesh not even fish of fowl or birds) or mushrooms. I eat eggs & mushrooms. So I add mushrooms only yo egg dishes & eggs only to mushroom dishes, we are just 2 of us in the home
got a vegan tuna ad before this vid ! pleasant change from all the omni ads i get lol. i love this recipe ! i have plenty of canned chickpeas and need some new recipes to make :)
A couple months ago I was preheating my oven and forgot there was a couple boxes of Triscuits/ Ritz crackers and a box of cereal in there. Almost started a fire! Glad I'm not the only one that forgets stuff like that. Also had to laugh at "Brought to you by Spatula" 😁
Was feeling a little under the weather today and needed some comfort food. This was perfect! I cut the batch in half and used potato chips on top and it was great. Thanks for the recipe, it will definitely be made again.
I make this dish with mushrooms and curry powder like my mom did when I was little. Don’t forget the paprika either!😊Ritz crackers make it even more buttery. Flat parsley on top is good and makes it pretty. And, definitely, there is always an excuse to have wine!!!!
I usually do a mix of chickpeas and artichoke hearts when I make tuna salad to get a texture closer to flaky tuna. Do you think that would work here? My dad (from Minnesota) used to make tuna casserole a lot, with crushed chips on top, and I honestly miss it. Also I can totally relate to using spices that expired circa 2016. IDGAF.
I ate a lot of tuna casserole growing up. The best topping is always plain salted potato chips with ridges (gotta have the ridges). But there are so many good potential casserole toppings (for various types of casseroles): tater tots, crumbled Ritz crackers mixed with butter, bread crumbs, chopped up biscuit dough, stuffing, polenta, corn bread batter... I don't think I've tried saltines yet though, that'll have to be on my next casserole, lol.
that's very tasty!!! i've marinated chik'in vegan chicken with the nori sheets several sheets for extra flavor, crumbling the nori crush the nori Very well and mix with the chik'in meat, after about 7 hours of marinating it tastes very much like seafood
My mom just made the most super basic version of tuna noodle casserole. Egg, noodles, tuna and cream of mushroom soup. No baking. We just served straight from the pot. Soo good. It was even better the next day and I would often eat it cold.
Okie 1. I’m v. Excited for this recipe, my dad made it ALL THE TIME! And he would be so proud of himself each time he did. 2. Damnnnnnnnn lookit you in that shirt!! Yeeeeeeee
Ohh I definitely grew up with this ultra white casserole haha so comforting. I’m definitely going to make a version if this tomorrow. Thanks for the inspiration 💜
Thanks so much for this post! I'm going through an illness and church friends are cooking for me. Vegan recipes intimidate so many people and this is an easy recipe that doesn't call for a lot of specialty ingredients that a non-vegan pantry wouldn't have. I will just provide some seaweed. Hurray!
Love how you served it in a bowl, so Asian, love it. (So much more practical!!) I definitely did not grow up eating casseroles 😂but this looks bomb! In Japan we’ve adopted gratin? Is that a casserole?🤷🏻♀️Love you Lisa! Looking like a snack in that shirt❤️
I thought if making it with kelp powder. My family miss tuna casserole as I made it all the time before I was vegan. They haven't had it over 5 years. Maybe I will give this recipe a try, but use kelp powder that I have sitting in the cupboard.
That looks so yummy, definitely gonna try it. We don't have saltine crackers in the UK, well I haven't seen them anyway 😁 so I have just googled and apparently they are similar to water biscuits - love your videos, so informative and fun 😘
Excellent video! I liked your usual silliness and Eddie calling out or commenting in the background. Never had tuna casserole growing up (thank goodness, shhhh, never liked fish, especially tuna). We did, however, have chicken a la king, which was chicken pot pie without the pie crust, instead, you use buttered bread, crammed into muffin tins and baked, as the vehicle for holding the mixture (a most hated meal for me, because I loathed the peas in that creamy sauce (can you say, fussy?)). Anyway, fun times, Lisa!
I'm making a casserole later today! But it's Novembery here right now, and I'm a Midwesterner. ; ) This looks delightful, and made me nostalgic. Will give it a go next week after shopping again. Hope you and yours are healthy and staying safe. TFP : )
My partner’s family makes tuna casserole (which I’d never heard of before we met) and his moms version is velveeta style Mac w tuna in it and that’s all. V excited to show him this vegan version after we move out.
Thanks for this.I will definitely try this.I've been looking for a vegan tuna casserole but most of them were using the fake tuna and I could never find so this looks really good.
It's crazy. Chickpeas taste so close to Tuna. I use to put Ritz on top of my Tuna Casserole. Never thought of Saltines. :) That looks really good. That's why you don't leave pans in the oven. lol. I use to be bad at that.
I used to think that casserole was the same thing as coleslaw but misspelled. AMA. Asian problems LOL. ANYWAY GIRL this recipe looks amazing. It'll be the first casserole I ever eat in my life no lie

ummm.... my midwestern ass, despite also being Asian, lmao, loves this shit and I've made something similar before. this time i did it again but w/ chickpea noodles, tofu as "chicken", and used my quarantine sourdough refuse to make a biscuit topping (u just mix 1 1/2 cups of sourdough refuse plus 3 vegan eggs and spices/salt and then DUMP IT on the casserole.... just... DUMP) and it's.... bomb, tbh. it's honestly so good. SO GOOD.
tuna noodle casserole was one of the first things i ever learned to make, no joke. lmao. i remember being very proud of myself for cooking it on my own for my whole family as a kid the couple of times i did it lol.

Eddie, I too was raised in tuna noodle casserole. Lisa, thank you for a vegan version! With celery! :D
I like to make a homemade cream of mushroom soup and it as the sauce. Definitely add Ritz crackers along with some butta! Lol

I’ve been meaning to try one with some Good Catch vegan tuna I picked up at Whole Foods. This inspires me to get a move on and just do it.
I'd be interested in trying it with that!! :O

Ritz crackers would work well since it has a “buttery” flavor & they are flaky.

vegan butter the sleeve of saltines, put in the noodle bag, smash up and top the casserole.
