I was in high school back when I got into Thrice. I attempted suicide right before graduation, and the friend who called my mom that ended up saving me dedicated the song Artist in an Ambulance to me. I liked them back then but that experience made me appreciate them more. Since I don’t think I’ve missed a show when they are in town. Thanks for all the memories Thrice, you’re like a friend I never met.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Thrice has had one of of the best developments of any band I’ve heard.
Always willing to experiment while always being consistently great and maintaining a recognizable sound.
Chevelle is similar! Both are outmatched by any other rock band IMHO.

Haha. Still doing the uncommon time signatures. Got to love it. Doing what other bands won't....and can't.
There's a really cool bridge section where it goes back to 4/4 but the bass has a heavy hit on 1 and 3 with a 5 count after, which makes it feel like an odd time signature but still in standard 4/4, lining up every 2 measures (8 beats). I love that it's simple but clever.

I first listened to Vheissu when a student of mine lent my her CD. She and another student (Ben) in my class had fallen in love with the band, and they knew I liked harder music. After just one listen to Image of the Invisible, I fell in love with the band immediately! Then the other student took his own life about a year later, and he was one of my favorite and most talented students, so Thrice has always had a very special place in my heart. And whenever I listen to Thrice, I always think fondly of Ben, and how he and that other student introduced me to them.
This song sounds a lot like it belongs on "Beggars." I'll be preordering this album immediately!
My best friend used to always try to get me into Thrice, which was around the illusion days. And I’d always tell him they suck and I’m never going to get into them. He died from in a car accident and right around the same time I ended up going to a deftones concert and Thrice opened, from the moment I heard Music Box and Red Sky I had to hear more. They ended up becoming my favorite band next to Metallica. I’ll always think about him when I listen to Thrice.

Great band, phenomenal song! Can't stop playing it. He shares similar vocal qualities as Mark Lanegan from the Screaming Trees. Mark's voice was once described as "scratchy as a three-day beard yet as supple and pliable as moccasin leather." Totally applies here!

Identity Crisis for me, these guys are just too damn good.
Artist in the ambulance was HUGE in high school. I got in on the illusion of safety, and even as a closed minded, elitist metal head, I always had a soft spot for Thrice.
Even Dustin’s solo project was good.

This band could play all genres and do it right. So much variety, so much energy. First show for me was Warped tour, Wichita KS '03. Last show was Fiddler's Green, Denver '19(been meaning to fix that) and they will never cease to amaze me. Been my fav band longer than they haven't at this point. Thrice = good music/lyrics every time. Whether it be upbeat(almost country sounding), the slow sad piano, or the heaviest of heavy, they always satisfy. Excited to see what comes next.

I can genuinely say this is the one band I’ve actually grown up with. From their first EP to today.
I love how these guys evolved seamlessly and maintained relevance the whole way through. Few bands have successfully done this without ridicule or sacrificing their "sound". Everything they've done just seems natural for them.
This band can do no wrong. Since AITA, growing old with them has been a pleasure
I love Thrice. They’re songs make me feel so much of what I didn’t realize I had inside. They helped me process some deep wounds I was working hard on healing. I’ve never come across another band/artist that helped me to that extent. I love how versatile they are and the deep meanings of all of their songs and albums. Real musicians make you feel and they bring life to your life.

I do remember being incredibly sad then, and feeling like my whole world was ending.
To answer your question: She never came back. BUT I'm also not sad anymore. Lots of things have changed - I was single for a while, and that was very good for me. I have a new girlfriend now, and a new job, new friends, etc... Life just goes on, I guess. I would say I'm definitely in a much better place mentally than I was back then. I can look back on the memories with fondness instead of sadness, and I think that's probably all a person can ask for when it comes to that sort of thing.

If you like this slower incarnation of the band, you’d like their last three records, but if you desire some faster post hardcore and punk rock stuff you should check out their first three. The stuff in between is very experimental

Let's all just take a moment to appreciate just how much of the musical landscape this band has been brave enough to explore over their career. Some bands have a sound, and they write their music according to that sound. Every new Thrice album just seems like a genuine expression of where the band members are at in their lives at that moment. I will always love this band.

First time I heard them was in 98’ and have been a loyal follower since, every album is incredible and the progression they’ve made musically over the years can’t be beat!

I can't remember the exact progression of things for me but I know I found out about them shortly before they released illusion of saftey and was able to see them live a bunch of times when they toured for that album and for artist in the ambulance. I love how they are not afraid to explore their musical roots and experiment with going different directions. It's refreshing to see a band do what they want and not what they think is expected of them.
