I have found that, the anxiety always makes me think ppl are looking at me. Dressing up (any way) doesn't change the anxiety at all it just means ppl are looking and usually smile at you so it makes it easier because then you don't feel that little paranoid feeling u just know. p.s. the effect of wearing fun clothes rubs off on everyone. I've had plenty of people tell me that what I wear makes them feel more confident in trying new things OR helps their anxiety coz they know the attention is being pulled elsewhere. It's a win win. P.P.S it took a while and few compliments before I got comfy doing this but the reward of wearing what I want is so worth it. My style is historically influenced not accurate so typically I ALMOST fit in. I buy everything from thrift stores and sometimes I feel like a clothing historian/protector.
Do it!! Ofc you don't HAVE to but if you want to! They say anything you do for a long enough time becomes your comfort zone, and I've definitely found that to be the case with wearing "weird" clothing! When I started I was already anxious when wearing a frilly blouse instead of a t-shirt!
I guess a childhood of being picked on had the effect of making me dead to much of what people think. My bosses discovered they could get me to wear a pink panther suit. I didn't care. If I feel I have a reason, that's all it takes.I do have rules, but life is more fun this way. You go, giiirrrrrrllll !! Its beautiful !.
Look into mindfulness and exposure therapy. I hope you achieve your goals and if people are looking at you wearing that, it's because you look amazing.
Do it, I've found it bothers you less and less the more you do it. Sure maybe people will look, but they'll probably be looking at how awesome you look, and those few folks that think you're weird... Who cares about them, they suck! It is very fun wearing nice clothes, it will probably make you feel more confident too.
The ensemble is very beautiful! It looks extremely comfortable. Beautifully cut, styled, and fitted. Ladies wore their hair up, simple, but so elegant. Very little jewelry. Probably a simple bar pin or single bead or pearl strand. Clothing went with and defined the times; Simply elegant. And a lady was a lady regardless of social/monetary class, and most conducted themselves with class, manners, and decorum. Not all, by any means, but she represented the times she lived in with a grace, beauty, and attitude to make those years seem to be the best in which to be alive! ❤💘 💘 💙 🍷
Why wait?!? Just make the clothes and wear them! What is someone gonna say? "You look beautiful?" "Wow you look like you are headed for the history books?" I would take that as a compliment on how accurate your replica was I'm currently working on 50's vouge dresses for my daughter's. I like these dresses better than the cheap plastic dresses offered by the commercial mall dresses. Be bold! Be brave! And you can have a story to share with people if how you used to wear 1897 walking suit that you made from scratch! Not many people can say that! You could even steam punk it up with some gears glued on here and there. This is ART! And art is subjective. Don't forget California's new AIDS art piece that looks like a sphincter. If that can pass as "art" so can a beautiful walking dress.
Please do make a video about making a wrapper. I want one so badly. All I have is an uglier-than-sin, cold-in-winter duster. It's convenient and comfy, but I hate the way it looks. I wish wrappers were still in.
I have a few simple t-shirt material dresses I’ve kept even as they have become too full of holes or too short for outside wear that I use as almost day pyjamas but I would love to make myself a wrapper to have a more elevated home dress.
Please make a video on making up a wrapper. Idk if I'll ever make one, but they look so wonderful. Like the hideous, tacky, and wonderfully useful duster I wear at home. But warmer and actually attractive! ❤
Much of the beauty of the detail in these outfits is unseen; it's like a private delight for the wearer.🥰 I especially love the lace on the petticoat!❤
You must get a lot of attention when you go out. Your clothes and hair is beautiful. I love the clothes from that era as well. Thank you for the education of historical clothes. I once took part as a model for a small Mexican community. It was a fund raiser. The clothes were historical Mexico's dress for women and men. Mostly women. I dont remember what I wore, but I love the Mariachi clothes. Historically they were horse women and men dressed like this. Soooo beautiful. Historically they did not play instruments. They were horsemen. I'm not Mexican, but lived and taught school on the border. The fund raiser was right on the border in Nogales, Az. It was so much fun.
My grandmother was born in 1886. I love telling that to people! Anyway, we have pictures of her in this type of clothing!! I love it and with a Gibson hairdo! I would love to dress like that every day!! You look lovely in the day clothes!! ❤❤❤
What I'd like to see: what my grandmother might have worn in 1919 when she was 25 and traveled to Florida from Massachusetts by boat. Defying her father's will. Without a chaperone. 😳 😊 She was a woman ahead of her time. Go Grandma!
I’m 55, and I just learned the actual use of a hat pin from this very video. I am fairly well-read and I knew they existed, but never once considered the why or the how. Thanks!!
Wow! This is one of most elegant and practical ones yet I feel inspired! Thank you for your content it’s awesome to hear all the history behind the designs. I’m a history student so it’s interesting to see the fashion in real time. I see a real art in your craft and I wanted to say it’s beautiful. It makes me feel more comfortable with my fashion and desire to follow my passion for history. Thank you!
I Love your channel! Like everyone else here, I would love getting to wear these cloths on a regular basis so I too, thoroughly enjoy living vicariously through watching you plus, its such an added bonus to learn all you share about these vintage clothes from their era's.
I think the term “Goldilocks” referred to how the sleeves were a pleasing amount of puffy, and the skirts were the perfect length. It’s not the name of the period, so “Goldilocks era” may not yield any search results. Just a head’s up!
Wow! If I ran into you on the street I'd have to restrain myself from overflowing with compliments and historical questions lmao, such a beautiful outfit!
I would love to dress more historically like this walking dress, finding sizes that fit plus size is just very difficult and then i work at a bank and they would definitely tell me to go home and come back wearing something else. You look awesome. Love you and your shorts. Watch them all the time.
I don't know why, but I do say I love the olden times style. But I prefer the aura In the Roaring Twenties myself. As they were quite astounding. but I say I might explore the even the older times of style as they seem quite marvelous. And yes, I said this with an old accent. I couldn't help myself.
A friend was born in 1897. He saw me in an Edwardian outfit and he teared up. He said how I reminded him of his dear Mother. That was special. Hey, Mr. Huges...see you later, Sir!.
I subbed to your channel several months ago; but, because of crappy eyesight, I could never read the channel's title. Just now the planets aligned and I was able to see the name. What a clever title. If I could fit into any of those clothes, I would.
Love all your costumes! 😍 This and your 1895 remind me so much of the costumes worn in Anne of Green Gables, with Megan Follows 💚🤍💚🤍 My friend just posted pix of her high school kids; son and daughter, 1st day of school-they looked filthy and homeless with oversized flannels, T-shirts with holes, sweatpants and filthy sneakers. I look better when I roll out of bed. I miss the elegance and class we used to have. Thank you for bringing such beauty into an otherwise parched world (in this capacity.)
I would love to sew that wrapper for myself! Stunning❤️ Did you use a reference or did you create it yourself?? Hope you and your loved ones are doing well❤️
I responded a little more in depth on another comment but it’s based on the truly Victorian French vest bodice pattern. basically I just made it really long!
@@thesewloartistcan you try to recreate some outfits from "Anne with an 'E'"? Based on this video, I think Ms. Stacey's hair style and outfits most closely looks like you.
I swear I would dress like this everyday if social anxiety wasn’t a thing

I am reminded of Mary Poppins. ❤ I really enjoy your videos.
I thought so too!!!
came here to say the same thing
Mary Poppins came to my mind too
The hat especially.
I was thinking Missy from Doctor Who, but yes! Also Mary Poppins
Victorian comfy clothes look really beautiful and elegant. I wish it made a comeback.
I would love to have one of those also

Omg the hair pin through the hat was genius I love learning how people used stuff before a zippers and Bobby pins
that's a hat pin! they're specifically for keeping a lady's hat on her head. if the hat was big enough, sometimes she'd use more than 1!
Also very useful for self defense
@@eldupont3095
Yes, a delightful hat pin!
My sister collects those....but I wear the hats lol. 😆
Hat pins were used to keep hats from flying away, and could be used as a weapon in a pinch
Yeah ditto I never knew that was a thing, so genius to keep your hat on in wind!
A terrific walking suit. Best example I've seen in a while. Plus practical!
I would wear the wrapper at home, easily. It looks wonderful, with the comfy fabric and long sleeves.
Google shabbat robe, you’re welcome
She always looks adorable
Please do make a video about making a wrapper. I want one so badly. All I have is an uglier-than-sin, cold-in-winter duster. It's convenient and comfy, but I hate the way it looks. I wish wrappers were still in.
Isn’t a duster the same thing

Same, I need one of these
The Classics never go out of style.
Would love to see a full video on the wrapper and this walking suit if possible please. It’s such a gorgeous silhouette!
Please make a video on making up a wrapper. Idk if I'll ever make one, but they look so wonderful. Like the hideous, tacky, and wonderfully useful duster I wear at home. But warmer and actually attractive! ❤
Highest praise fot this walking suit! Also kudos for picking 1897.perfect fashion year! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I have a picture of my great grandmother dressed exactly like this as she's sitting on her horse! Love the cute hat!
A very all-gtown-up Anne kind of outfit. 10/10 ❤❤❤
Gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous
I adore this functional, fashionable, attractive, stylish suit... The wool would make me itch all day long, but it might be worth it ❤
Beautiful. Beyond beautiful. ❤
These looks are so elegant, and extremely flattering. It's so much better than showing your entire body, and leaving nothing to the imagination. ❤
I adore how the fluffy slippers round off this look
Super Nice, as always... You are amazing 🎉❤

So many clothing articles they wore back then fir one oùtfit.

I just love these old looks! They are just so beautiful. A lot went into getting into these dresses so many layers! As always you look stunning.
Absolutely gorgeous. I simply cannot believe the number of layers. No Wonder women needed smelling salts.
I am so in love with you. I’m addicted to your TikTok and TH-cam shorts. You are certainly in the coolest kind of way.
Damn!! That outfit is beautiful!❤❤❤
I want to bring back wrappers and I love this one.
What a gorgeous outfit!! I love the comfy robe at the beginning too! So pretty!!! I love your videos!!
My great grandmother was born in 1897 and lived to be 106. I love the fashions of her early era!
I love this Era, so beautiful and elegant
Love that walking suit. Gorgeous
I love both of these, I would wear the wrapper myself, and u could almost wear the walk suit, and with a few tweeks it could be worn today!!!
Always a delight to learn from you and see your collection of very cool clothes. Plus you have the perfect body to enhance the styles. Thx for posting
It was going to snow, so you just......made an outfit. My lord girl, I'm blown away by your talent.
Fascinating! I love learning about this. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!
Lovely!! And the corset is gorgeous!
That is my favorite period for fashion. Late 1800s
My grandmother was born in 1896. I’m imagining my great grandmother and her siblings going for a walk in this outfit.
That corset is the most beautiful one I’ve seen on you!
What a cute wrapper. Thanks for doing what you do.
Love love LOVE the wrapper! Please do a video on how you sewed it!
You look like Mary Poppins.❤ You are wonderful dressmaker. I love the fact you like to make clothes from the centuries gone past.❤
Very pretty ❤💐
Gorgeous! The "goldilocks" era will have to be one I look into! Thank you!
I think the term “Goldilocks” referred to how the sleeves were a pleasing amount of puffy, and the skirts were the perfect length. It’s not the name of the period, so “Goldilocks era” may not yield any search results. Just a head’s up!
@Zephirite. I was referring to the 1890's dress style, my bad! 😂 but yes, I'm sure goldilocks Era might not glean much information lol 😆
❤❤❤❤❤ I really need to learn how to make some of these, I would honestly wear that everyday. It looks like a fun suit, and warm. 🥰
I would live in those wrappers, this one is gorgeous
I love your videos. So many layers in many of the clothes. They must have gotten very warm .
I would so wear this. It is beautiful and so are you. This color is you for sure.
BTW: I'd also love to have the comfy gown!
I love this dress, beautiful
My God! Just yesterday I had wondered if modern women would prefer dressing like in the 1800s. And voila! You popped up here! Amazing! Keep it up!
I wish we still dressed like that. So beautiful
Love this outfit!!!! Brilliant video!!!!
Outstanding outfit! Love it.
Menswear influences and a nice battle hatpin. It's perfect!
Both the wrapper and the walking suit are gorgeous ❤
This is my favorite era in fashion
That is stunningly beautiful!
The outfit reminds me so much of Missy from DW. Love it.
Oh how I long for the days when we dressed to go out… ❤
That wool is beautiful!!!
I could look at this all day!
I don't know why, but I do say I love the olden times style. But I prefer the aura In the Roaring Twenties myself. Oh look! Historically accurate mary poppins!
Those corsets!!! Omg!! 😍😍
Gorgeous outfits! Meet Me in St Louis outfits
I love how the women looked so business professional in this era!
I love this outfit ! Gorgeous ❤
Okay, Miss Scarlet! Loving the navy blue.

Great slippers! Love the outfit.
Wait! You make these yourself ❤ amazing
Such creative blood flows through your veins ❤
“I chose 1897 because it was kinda the goldilocks of historical fashion.”
been watching the shows 1883 and 1923 i would love to see some outfits inspired from those eras 😍
1897 is an awesome year! It was also the year Dracula was published!
