Celine sounds like my type of thriller. I’m Trying to read Books by and from older women on my channel. I started my channel on my 70th birthday in August and I’m having a blast. I want to honor the wisdom and fun that all the women can bring to the conversation. Aloha
Excellent recommendations! The Plot was so great! I have The Maidens and While Justice Sleeps ready to go. Summer thrillers are the best! Thanks for doing this.
Loved Celine! Also Ryan is completely correct about The Plot. I have an ARC of The Maidens and am saving for my quick vacation at the end of June. I like the idea of quick videos about different genres. Thanks!!!
Little late to the party but want to thank you for recommending Celine by Peter Heller! His writing has a depth and beauty I love, the character herself is somebody I wish I know, and the mystery kept moving forward at a nice pace. When I finished I got a copy of The Painter and have to say I love it even more, surprising myself because everything about it is so different from my own life. Thanks Russell.
Oh I am so glad you loved it. Have you read The Dog Stars yet? I think that is my second favorite. I get why you would like The Painter though, it is very lyrical. I am so glad I introduced you to books you love. That makes my day.
I loved Catherine House too. It was so edgy and atmospheric. If you haven’t already read it, I think you might like Wilder Girls by Rory Power. It also has a similar theme, dark academia meets the beginning of an apocalypse.
The Plot sounds so good. I recently read a short story by Hassan Blasim called 'An Army Newspaper' from his short story collection 'The Corpse Exhibition and other stories of Iraq' about the editor of a small newspaper who claims the amazing stories of a dead soldier as his own. It was only a few pages long and it left me wanting to read a bit more about theme, so your recommendation comes at a perfect time.
I love the idea! The Plot is going to be the first one I read. Have you talked about Gideon and Harrow on this channel? If yes, can you point me to it. If no...can you :):)
I hope you like The Plot. I have talked about Gideon! I loved it and Harrow so much. I cannot wait to read the third. Check out my Final Wrap up of 2020.
I love thrillers and mysteries so I love you recommending some books in this genre. These all sound so good. I will have to see which my library has and whatever they don’t have I will purchase. I will probably end up purchasing all of them.😀
I just ordered four of the books you mentioned just because of your recommendation. Love the concept, keep 'em coming - especially including books that have been published already. Can't wait for The Plot.
Hello from the Philippines! Am new to your channel. I’ve seen a couple of your videos & have listed several in my TBR that you have either reviewed or recommended. I have seen at least 1 other booktuber talk about Catherine House, she also said it was a great read. She classified it under Dark Academia (do you consider that a genre yourself? I didn’t realize until recently that it’s now a genre. Books that people call Dark Academia nowadays are ones I would’ve put under Literary Fiction or Historical Fiction). The Maidens is also one that booktubers have put under Dark Academia. In any case, I’ve put Catherine House, The Maidens, The Plot and perhaps The Silent Patient too (after I sample The Maidens) on my TBR. Thanks for your video, am looking forward to more 😉
Thank you so much for watching. Dark Academia … I like that. I think there are a number of books that fit into that category. I think you could add The Secret History by Donna Tart to that list.
Hey Russell, speaking of thrillers, do you know the title of this book about a girl whose sister dies years before and now her mom is in the hospital and sees her diseased sister’s ex boyfriend and speaks to him or something like that and the death of her sister was never resolved. Want to read that book but can’t remember the name of the book....
i love the genre TBR, I hope you can do more similar videos! thank you so much for your hard work, I love everything you do, your channel is so precious ❤️
All the books you have reviewed sounds fantastic I'm looking forward to all them I love mysteries and I love watching your videos thank you so much for taking the time keep us all up to date with the latest... hugs
Thank you, Russell! I just finished reading my campus thriller stack, and I'm looking forward to The Maidens. I'm also very excited about While Justice Sleeps.
Loved While Justice Sleeps! Just saw two more in this series have been signed! And exciting to see an #AusLit on your list (Starford, but has a different title over here), I keep hearing good things so am looking forward to reading too :)

I think that I am going to love The Plot - so, I am going to read it in a day of fun. I hope you like The Maidens.
The plot was sickkkk
Spy stories stress me out, but An Unlikely Spy sounds really good.
I think this is a great series. Maybe fantasy next? Have a great week.
Fantasy next it is.
Love this video format. Had all but An Unlikely Spy on my TBR, didn't know about that one, thanks for the recommendation!
I am so glad you liked it And I hope you pick up The Unlikely Spy.

The Plot sounds like the movie A Murder of Crows...While Justice Sleeps sound interesting.
I have never heard of A Murder of Crows... I guess I will have to check it out after I read the book.

I'm really excited about the Stacey Abrams book.
You will have to tell me what you think.
Yes, I enjoyed this video. I especially like hearing about the ones you have read. I downloaded Catherine House from the library. Sounds good!
I hope you like it. I don’t know many people who have read it and it makes me sad.
I love thrillers and mysteries so I love you recommending some books in this genre. These all sound so good. I will have to see which my library has and whatever they don’t have I will purchase. I will probably end up purchasing all of them.😀
You and my both my friend. I always think ... use your library -> and then I go shopping. LOL

I like a genre TBR! I've been on a thriller kick lately too.
Have added all of these to my ever growing TBR 📚
Great list of books!
Loved While Justice Sleeps! Just saw two more in this series have been signed! And exciting to see an #AusLit on your list (Starford, but has a different title over here), I keep hearing good things so am looking forward to reading too :)
I heard that too. I really love that she keeps doing amazing things, I am such a fan. I think the Starford sounds like a lot of fun.
Yes! Really enjoy this idea & cannot wait for more summer recommendations 🙂
i like a good thriller every now and then, im reading hostage by clare mackintosh, a lot of great recommendations, nice vid! :-)
I think I have read Clare Mackintosh... hmmm.. I need to go back and pick her up.
Catherine House sounds like a bad rip off of The Secret History in a way...
I do not see any connection actually.. very very different. Was their a sci-fi experiment part of The Secret History I missed. LOL
Why do you pronounce the word "unlikely" as "unlucky". It sounds really strange. Nota bene, English is NOT my native language.
I don’t think I usually do… but accidents happen. No one is perfect.
