@@Deridus no. Sometimes they have the option to trap demons in tesseract labyrinths but the physical form of a demon can always be destroyed and banished back to the warp. That’s usually what happens when demons are “killed”

I wonder if he's resisting it better cuz it's Khorne and he's sort of a pacifist.
That has got to be the most MENACING detailing of Khorne and his worshippers that I have ever heard. It was downright BIBLICAL. You really blew it out of the water on this one, Oculus, absolutely amazing.
I mean I’ve pretty much had my suspicions confirmed by the video before this. The mention openly of the interview with ex thousand sons sorcerer which ended with his ‘arrest’ by the inquisition. To speak of it openly confirms the arrest was a way to end the interview in a believable way for the sorcerer across the table. The inquisiton seem to view the oculus as a asset now and one worth preserving as long as he retains his sanity and loyalty. The oculus is actually safeguard by his mixture of knowledge cynicism and loyalty. He views the entire galaxy as damned with neither imperium or or chaos worthy. But the former is far better than the latter.
Don't forget, the appearance that the seemingly harmless scholar had the balls, or madness, to go behind the Big I likely earned him some kudos with the traitor Astartes should a second interview be needed.
@@Wulgreath exactly, the arrest was as part of the act and was probably pre-planned. Although to make it realistic the inquisitor didn’t say how she would arrest him so he’d be genuinely surprised.
You can't hear it in the recording, but there's an Ordo Hereticus adept eating popcorn in the corner, waiting for the maddened screaming to start.

My girlfriend walked in around the 28 minute mark. She thought I was listening to a reading of The Book of Revelation. 😂 You're the best 40k lore channel out there. I love everything you do, the in universe narration, the atmosphere, the seriousness of your presentation. Kharn when he lopped off an unruly berserker's head during a charge, and then kicked the head into their charge target's line so the poor head could enjoy the slaughter up close

I'm not sure that's the Emperor smiling. Looks too toothy and wide. Maybe Tzeentch? Khorne-Flake is too immersed in fire and battle to really do much today.

This, for me, is the worst part of the Black Templar retcon in 6th Edition, because changing them from arguably the most atheistic of Astartes to slavering Empy worshipping whiners tossed 90% of the lore that made them great into TemplOrks that was purely an artifact of a tactic from the 4th Edition rules IIRC.
Deeper chaos lore is cool. Khorne especially is oversimplified often so it’s refreshing to here about the mythos in this vid. Makes it seem more ancient and Evil rather than the generic villains chaos factions are often presented as
I hope the other 3 get the same treatment. I'd love to hear the deep lore of all the chaos pantheon.

How the Oculus has so much knowledge about Khorne, un-warded, reading and studying it without going insane is an impressive feat. Shocked by the end he didn't try to break something.

@@johnd2058 look up the Illuminati on Lexicanum for it's old lore version or The exorcist chapter for a more modern equivalent of it though they never outright call it illumination it's almost the same process that process being getting possessed by a demon and then forcing it out with one's own will that said in newer lore it seems to be simply increased resistance rather than immunity to corruption

Fucking excellent. Elevates Khorne so far beyond just "RAHHHHH BLOOD SMASH KILL MAIM KILL BURN MAIM KILL BURN" into something genuinely horrific with your delivery.

That last sentence is uttered with reluctance and horror that is PALPABLE. Oculus knows the words he speaks carry such weight and terrible power, and is no doubt consumed with fear of the Lord of Skulls.
Head cannon: the oculus is not being actively courted by the blood god...thus the hilarious "we want to avoid the madness ofblast time" followed by reading daemonic names not resulting in a gibering mess of a man at the end. Tzeentch.....is going to fun.
There’s a world eater lord that’s able to resist the nails and plot schemes and make plans in the Angron book. Then on the other extreme there’s one whose nails are so active literally any thought but killing and violence is punished.
In codex WE there's a zerker who ponders his own nature and why he exists while fighting a titans crew. He kills it and comes to the conclusion he has no purpose and may be no different from the servitors he fought and kills himself to dedicate his skull to khorne
It's a hell of a read

The biblical vibes in the storytelling made this way more intense, really nails down (pun intended) the fact that the ruinous powers are 'Gods'.
Okay I'm betting good money now that Oculus is officially part of the Ordo Hereticus inquisitors retinue. That, or now we are listening to a servitor with amazing voice hardware.
I bet you you're right, but that Oculus doesn't actually have any idea. If he's plumbing the depths of secret knowledge and the Ordo is watching, then they're likely gathering everything he discovers anyhow.

You can hear the wear in the Oculus’ voice.
No “thing” can touch him now. He could stare into the Warp full on and be safe because he has nothing for them to take anymore. Nothing to corrupt.
He has, if I may suppose, learned a Truth. That there is a Limit to things. The body and mind can only be pushed so far before it tires of the pushing.
Too much feeling gives way to no feeling. About anything. The joy of discovery gives way to the monotony of Codification. The Oculus searches for Knowledge, true, but has reached a point to where he knows what is best left alone or unlearned. Or even what needs be put to the torch for the good of all.
For the price of learning is high, truly.
But the price to relearn that Knowledge can and will cost you everything if you are not careful.

The parallel in the very last story you tell to the seven trumpets or the 7 seals in the book of Revelation is very very interesting and was a very fun little thing to listen to.

Those first five minutes were amongst the best work that you've ever done. Outstanding.
Tho Khorne was likely born when the first caveman killed another out of rage instead of food, I like to think that his personality was born when that same caveman took a seat on the skull of his defeated enemy. (Or the skull of a mammoth. It’s larger, and those tusks can make for good armrests.)
The birth of the gods actually reminds me of an utterly twisted and cracked version of the birth of the Emotional Entities from DC's pantheon.

I like the story of one of Korne's greater demons punching their own God but then got punished by getting yeeting across the galaxy.

Being bored by chaos' antics is the only guarantee against possession. I mean, I wouldn't want to be described as "predictable and passè" by a lesser soul I'm trying to consume.taking the fun out of chaos is their weakness.

Im currently working on some chaos khorne marked chosen. This was a treat to listen to as i painted. Love it and i cant wait till you get to the angron book in ark of omens. What happens in that book with khorne himself is incredible !!!
Between this and listening to gojira - the art of dying ( live in villunes ) the absolute creative nails hammering away as i paint is amazing.

Excellently written video, very interesting to watch. Khorne is a classic part of Warhammer, but I wish there was a little more to him. He strikes me as a bit one dimensional at times, but he's still a great part of the lore.
He does not care where blood comes from, only as long as it flows.
