Happy New Year, You could talk about life of humans on space stations or spaceforts like Galatan, and ships like Macragges Honour, etc. You could also talk about how this can vary per first founding chapter, type of rogue trader, military vessel or civilian vessel etc
The first thing you'd encounter upon time traveling to w40k would be someone desperately trying to time travel back the way you came. That person would probably be your own future self.
I was thinking in the line that if Trayzyn ever gets a word that a human from M2 suddenly appeared. He would proably spare no expense in adding them to his collection.
@maltheri9833 M3, this is the third millenia (1000 year period) we are in since we are keeping time in a universal way. So 2024 is the 3th millenia ( lasts from 2000-2999) The earliest civilizations developed between 4000 and 3000 B.C.E., when the rise of agriculture and trade allowed people to have surplus food and economic stability. Homo sapiens, the first modern humans, evolved from their early hominid predecessors between 200,000 and 300,000 years ago. They developed a capacity for language about 50,000 years ago.
@@darkbozo11 We have absolutely no idea when modern humans developed the capacity for language. I rather suspect hat capacity has been around for a LOT longer than a mere 50,000 years. Relatively complex social groups such as human hunter gatherer groups require a LOT more in the way of communication than animals. especially as the young were taught some fairly complex skills, such as flint knapping..... You do NOT teach such skills without a pretty damned advanced form of communication, aka, language, of some sort.... While SOME people think Language is relatively recent, so in your 50,000 year scale, most are not so arrogant, or in my opinion stupid t take that claim at face value, as its probably bullshit.... Because here is a fun little fact, the vocal chords which give us the capacity of language evolved a LOT longer than 50,000 years ago..... And Hominids were cooperating in social groups far more complex than any animal a LONG time before modern humans evolved.... The history of language is certainly a LOT older than you try to claim. Now if you argued that those early languages were simple in comparison to modern languages, I would have to agree, but this 'we started talking 50,000 years ago' is utter crap.....
I think the scary thing is that there are a lot of people who would actually like to live in this world, like Medieval RPers, because they never seem to stop and think what daily life would actually entail if you didn't win 'the lottery' of what role you had... sometimes not even then.
I don't think I would want to live in Star Trek either. Imagine getting vented into space because you're septuagenarian captain tried to talk to the obviously hostile aliens.

This is where to take your videos dude, this is something that other creators can't really replicate because it relies on your skills as a storyteller AND the ability to realistically immerse yourself in a world. Very cool.
Great comment. I don't find it ethical to promote any other channels by name on someone else's video, especially when it's similar subject matter. As such, I won't name anyone but you're correct on the importance of storytelling ability. There are maybe three other channels I would actually listen to a long lore video from them. The others are good, don't get me wrong but they are more about presenting the info, while Luetin makes it great entertainment. This feels almost like an audiobook or a guided tour rather than just someone reading the lexicanum article

Medieval people wouldn't be that disgusted by a phone. It would definitely confuse people, but unfamiliar technology that you can't wrap your head around has been introduced to people for pretty much all of history. People back then weren't stupid nor anywhere near as zealous(for the most part) as people in 40k. Similar to how germ theory wouldn't have you burned either. They'd just raise a brow and nod their head and say something along the lines of "Yeah? Uh-huh, okay, whatever, dude." Though a 40K inquisitor would probably be that way. At least if you gave them the impression that there was any AI being used in it... might want to stay light on apps.
Speculation Video idea: The Emperor awakens and declares you the Lord of the Imperium and to do everything you say, no matter what. Could you save humanity? How would you stop the crumbling and inevitable destruction of the Imperium? What would you do?

Speculation idea spinoff: You are frozen in a cryocapsule, like Fry from Futurama. During the Golden age of technology your capsule is ordered off-world to a reawakening facility; however, your ship is lost in transit. Speculation: what is your fate depending on which faction/age finds your ship and your cryocapsule?
yeah I should have actually done a quick search on that one while recording, and afterwards found there are a couple of references. But it makes sense there would be, I think the point is though, they are not commonly used, probably just Inquisitors Deathwatch etc.
To be fair. They are rare and valuable piece of equipment. If you carry it around you'll catch attention from people who will want to know were did you get it or want to take it from you.

One option for the arms trader gig would be night vision goggles. For whatever reason, they are VERY rare in the imperium, but commonplace and comparatively affordable today.
SMH, think for a second. Do you think their night vision goggles would be the same as the ones we have? They have tech from the golden age of humanity.... you cant even think through simple things and yet you see yourself as a relatively intelligent person.
Disagree. Best scenario (moderate risk): you immediately meet a Custodian. They’re the most likely to know an archaic language, and if you claim the Emperor pulled you from his past to help in some manner only he knows you’d at least pique their curiosity, especially if you can recite details from the Great Crusade, talk about the Cybernetic Revolt, and similar. Same logic: Molech, in front of the Gate. High risk, potentially extremely high reward. Riskier but available most places: demand to see an Inquisitor and try the same thing, but your odds of being tortured go way up.
Just imagine traveling into the far distant future, taking a look around, and realising, "holly shit, Games Workshop totally called it, those guy were spot on!"
Step 1: Acquire the formula for Red Bull. Step 2: Time travel to M41 Mars. Step 3: Offer up the formula for an energy potion that increases productivity in Imperial laborers to the forge world in exchange for joining the Cult Mechanicum as a techpriest acolyte. better plan:travel to the Dark age of technology, download as many STC's as possible,travel to M41,then trade the STC archive "you found around somewhere" to the Mechanicus and become the ruler of your own Star system or get a warrant of trade in exchange. There's only one downturn:you could getting killed or servitorized by a selfish and greedy techpriest who wants to keep this stuff to himself,if you talk to the wrong one.
Step 5: Remember that they do all their surgery without anesthetics since they're just cutting away human flesh. Step 6: You try to actually fix the electric motor by cutting the faulty cable and soldering it to it's connection point, without using the proper rituals, ointments and prayers, get branded a heretic and turned into a servitor for hurting the machine spirit.
@@johnlucas2838 That's so dumb to think about. 😒🙄 the Techpriests seeing the STC's as a holy relic from the dark age of technology,find one stc itself that is replicateble is impossible in M41 because theyre either destroyed or corrupted beyond repair by fcking chaos,getting the blueprint data of these things is what i mean, and not the hard tech already created by the constructor.
I absolutely love the 40k setting. It's sheer scale, the diversity of characters and factions, the interpersonal interactions between nearly immortal beings, the complexity of hive cities are all great and ponderous aspects of a fictional setting. That being said, I hope to God that I never find myself there.
I like the idea, if it's at all possible, of asking for sanctuary in the Black Library. Just throw yourself on the mercy of the Harlequins and let them know you're just looking for a safe space to live out the rest of your life. Seems like a nice place for us nerds if they allow it.

@@logansmall5148 Not really much different to what'd happen to you overall really speaking... like yeah you'd have to be SUPER lucky to not end up being killed painfully pretty much on the spot in a first encounter with the Imperium - if you travel to a world controlled by it.
Maybe this is just me, but as a outside visiter to the 40k galaxy I kinda wanna see if I could infliltrate a Chaos cult. Now that sounds insaine until you really think about it, Chaos cults are generally very hidden from the authorities of the Imperium and some even have access to the upper noble levels within hive cities. So if you were to join their ranks maybe as a weapons trader you might be able to access typically blocked off areas of planets. The issue would be is which god the cult worships, Khorn and Nurgle cults are out of the question as they would likely kill you randomly through implulsive violance or deadly disese. Slaneesh cults could be possible to infliltrate depending on how many drugs you're willing to take, but Tzeench cults are likely you're best bet as most of you reading this have a decent amount of knowlege about the 40k universe and the cult might be very interested to learn you're precious knowlege. Also if you guys are thinking that this idea applies to Gensteeler Cults as well then your wrong, as most members of a Gensteeler cult have a synapse link with their fellow members so they will know instantly that you're not one of them. Am I Insaine what do you guys think?
As much as it would completely suck... honestly, joining a Nurgle cult might be one of the only ways you'd have any prayer of surviving any of the future pathogens.
The thing is... the ppl that interact with chaos and dont get corrupted are the guys THAT DONT SEE THEn HAS GODS. See Bile and renow psykers etc. We who know how they operate would not be corrupted. Now nurgle plagues are a problem.
Just swing by the Dark Age of Technology en route and pick up an STC - then set myself up as a new lord of a nice sector out the way of the Nids. And Orks. And Drukari. And Chaos. Hmmm maybe I'll just stay in the Dark Age of Tech about 1000 years before the men of iron go skynet.

The term "Emperor's CHILDREN" becomes far more disturbing in that context. I'm sure there's an Inquisitor Hansen that specializes in hunting down that particular brand of heresy.
I think Noble might actually be easier than falling in with the rabble. Mostly because with no augmentations Nobles are the ones most likely to be able to say that they're "Clean", and speaking of clean they are also most likely to be the ones that keep their hygiene up like we do. Also, noble families are also large enough that not everybody knows everybody, so if you can confidently lie about who you're daddy/mommy is I think you can make it pretty easily or at least have an easier start than anywhere else. Especially as a Lowly noble. Also, knowing Latin apparently helps. Just some food for thought.
Yeah, in my experience it's usually easier to blag that you're high status than low. Even if you're successful as passing as low status it could still mean you get treated teriibly, at least you get treated well if you get away with being a noble! You just need to have that indefinable confidence that schools like Eton charge the gdp of a small country to instill! The other option might be the high vis jacket plus walkie talkie cosplay, just talk into your radio and walk confidently and you can usually get where you need to go, maybe add a couple of lanyards and wristbands for extra legitimacy :)

The first thing I'm doing BEFORE traveling is giving myself the powers of either cosmic armor superman or Dr. Manhattan, so that if I were to be challenged by any opponents, be they chaos or dark elder or beyond, I would be able to overcome it several times over. Next I would learn Latin for any niche situations. Next, after aiming for the 41st millennium, I would try to land in the bowels of some hive city on an aggriworld and immediately look for work. In a place like this it would be easy to assume an identity because the imperium's bureaucracy is too clogged to notice the difference. From that point on it's all about learning to aquiesse and assimilate both socially and culturally which would probably take anywhere from 5 months to a year. After that, it's basically a playground. Maybe you get bored so you try to get hired by a rogue trader. Maybe you just fly off into space every now and again. The sky is basically the limit for whatever amount of time you are there because of the preparation taken before arrival. Bit of a long reply but yeah, if I have the technology to travel there through time, I'm not leaving until I give myself a buff first lol.
I don't presently see why they wouldn't given one would be travelling from their universe to the 40k universe. Even if we count the 40k universe as existing within our own, I'm sure the DAOT would have had something on par with the acquisition of those sorts of powers.@@alwynwatson6119
I may be crazy, but that's my top 3 : - Going to Baal Secundus right before Sanguinius' pod would land. I wouldn't try to change anything to the story, I would just try to survive long enough to see the Angel's doings with my own eyes, and eventually, if I haven't been irradied to death yet, enroll into the Blood Angel legion. - Get a drink with Ciaphas Cain. - Try to become an Inquisitor in M41.
You wouldn’t try to prevent the traitorous arcs of some of the primarchs or prevent certain events from happening? It could be easy to do for some of them. You could make sure Kor Phaeron & Erebus “disappear” so they never get the chance to dig their claws into Lorgar. Or you could tell Magnus it would be better to physically teleport to the front door of the Imperial Palace personally rather than trying to manifest directly into the Emperor’s laboratories, thus saving the Webway project and preventing a warp portal permanently opening on Terra itself. Etc.
@@CousinJesse1 Well, if I had to change something, it would definitely be stopping Magnus in one way or another to fck up the web way. But even then, it would mean that Horus already became a traitor and everything else from that point would change. Not sure if it would be for the best. I wouldn't try to prevent horus from falling into chaos though. People often consider Erebus as the catalyst for the entire heresy, but I believe that even without him and his sorcery the chaos god would have still found a way to corrupt Lorgar, Horus, and any other primarch they had their eyes set on.
@@EliteCustodes lorgar mightve still fallen without erebus and kor phaeron, but the big thing about erebus is he instituted the warrior lodges that turned the normal astartes traitor. Sure, the primarch would bring some, but so many astartes already being turned through the lodges helped massively. Without that lodge in each legion/chapter/company/ship/expedition fleet, it would not have been such a large schism. especially among legions like the white scars and dark angels.

On the matter of translation mcguffins: one instance a „Lingua Servitor“ was mentioned was in „Courage and Honour“ by Graham McNeill. It was used by the Ultramarines to interrogate a T‘au prisoner and it was implied they had more than one language translator.
Always good to see a new LT upload. I'd love you to cover teleportation in 40k as it's such a huge technology which would really break a lot of fictional verses, but even though it's mentioned from time to time I've never seen its 40k version's limits, applications and main users explained.
I’ve been thinking on this concept a lot when I got into the lore especially recently and I also agree that Feudal worlds are probably the best places as it’s less dangerous than other places. I also got a true feel of the how totalitarian the imperium is and it was a very scary. Amazing video loved every second of it, love all of your work! Keep it up!

I have kicked this idea around before in my head, Astrates drop pods are hitting military bases worldwide while Guard Regiments are taking cities. Meanwhile I'm carrying around the inquisitor rosette replica I keep in my workshop and trying to get them to stop. " Stop in the name of the inquisition! My master has set up this low tech world in an effort to replicate the development of the STC's! And we are getting close, they have started developing something called CHATGPT, which could be the precursor to full STC's!"
@@Ikxi Fake inquisitors pretending to do Inquisitor work, and accidentally stumbling across a real Chaos cult, eventually thwarting it. Kind of like an inquisitorial version of Ciaphas Cain.
Something I feel that's semi-important is who you time travel too and when. For example, I feel you'd have a much higher chance of surviving and mibby even thriving if you were to appear just before the start of the Great Crusade and appeared to someone like Urda, Malcador, Grammaticus, even Big E at that time as each would realise/understand what you are and how important the things you know are. Not saying it's a 100% foolproof way of not getting turned in to a drooling idiot, but it's worth a stab.

For the throwing out names and being confident part, I feel like I'd accidentally say some chaos related name and get shot by the Inquisition. Random citizen: "So, where are you from?" "Well, I was from... Near Ultramar, I also kinda just hung around the Sol system for a while too. Used to live near the Eye of Terror, but it expanded, and a warp storm destroyed my home..." Random citizen: "Oh! Ultramar! I used to hang around those parts! Did ya meet my buddy, down at the Aqua dispensery?" "Uhhh, yeah, I think so! What was his name? ...Alpharius, right? ...whoops..." *stomp stomp stomp* undercover inquisitor walks over *BLAM* Also, "if you happen to see a Sororitas, avert your eyes." Wouldn't it be more convincing if you, as a religious pilgrim who had never left your hive city or feudal world, were completely enamored by the superhuman warrior that's in front of you?

Well, yeah. It's just like Kairos getting chucked into the Well of Eternity. The time travel mechanics would almost certainly be tied to the warp. Even if the Imperium wouldn't detect you, there's Chaos demons and oracles and everything. They'd love to get their hands on a chronological oddity... if Trazyn doesn't get you first.

If you could send a message to the Emperor of M30 (let's say, during the Great Crusade and before any of the Primarchs have fallen to Chaos), what do you warn him about? Which dominoes can you stop from falling, and which will fall regardless of what you do? What do you think the downstream effects of your warning would be?

It would be interesting to see a vid about traveling to the future and joining another faction apart from the imperium, either as a normal human or something that fits in (e.g. mutated human for Chaos or grot/eldar for xenos). Great vid as always :D
The irony is that once you get to 40k world the easiest way for you to integrate yourself into local society is yo join a Chaos cult. If the cult in question is powerful it can get you any ID you require and help you get a job. If you share some info about 3k or what you know as a 40k reader/player/Luetin09 sub, then you are going places as long for example local noble is a Chaos worshiper. Yes you can and probably will end up dead or sacrificed or turned into something creepy, but if you try something similar with loyalists, you will die no matter what, theres no chance to go up in life

I had thought about this before, you get transported there without any prep, assuming you get dumped on a random world. although this is very risky I would probably try to get the attention of the inquisition 50/50 you get tortured to death or become a vital asset with meta knowledge of the verse. Alternatively try to pass yourself as a psycer and try to get transport to Tera via a black ship, won’t have to worry about sister of silence melting your brain and they would probably be a bit more reasonable than the inquisition. Or if your inclined become a chaos cultist and hope for the best.

There is just one small problem. 40K has completely different physics from the real world. Orbital mechanics are not a thing for a start. But also as far as we know nothing like the warp exists in the real world. Either one would be bad because you would not be accustomed to being either and the emperor would probably react to killing you as quickly as possible. If any physics linked to neurology changes significantly it will create a kind of shock. So you might not even survive the trip between universes.
As someone who would die on the Guilliman hill, i would love to know about the worlds of ultramar and how they vary from the rest of the worlds of the Imperium.
I really enjoyed you taking this perspective of a time traveler to this universe it created a very tangible sense of immersion and in my opinion allowed for thinking about aspects I wouldn't usually consider coming from the more omnipotent perspective we usually have. Having to think about the intricacies and ways an individual would have to adapt themselves to this universe no matter how much they know about it was very refreshing and added way more layers to the reality of what life is like there. Its also very fortunate that Warhammer 40k just so happens to be a world where very few would listen to you if you were from another time as it reinforced that sense of having to bend to the functioning of the universe and not come in with a sense of slight superiority due to knowing so much more than the average person. I would live to see more videos in this vein or at least with this kind of humbling and thought provoking perspectives

In general, most of your advice is correct at a surface level. But each world has it's own unique differences. For example, most worlds would NEVER let the common rabble into the Govenor's Palace. However, in one of the earlier Ciaphas Cain books, it's mentioned that the Govenor opened the outer gardens on some special holidays each year to the public, such as on Emperor's Day. It's likely that many worlds in the Imperium would have special, specific days where the public can visit places they normally never could, or a more relaxed outlook on the rigidity of social stratas.

If I had the ability to choose at all whatsoever exactly where I could end up in 40K I would choose Maccragge. Of all places it seems the safest and most civil for a basic pleb of the imperium and you might get the random chance to witness some ultramarines in the flesh!

You're so good at faking being an inquisitor that you go years without discovery only to one day trip into a real inquisitor. Through the interrogation they learn of all your exploits and the sheer audacity in which you pulled them off. The Inquisitor gives a nod to his interrogator to which the interrogator says to you "you want a job?"

Turning up on a newly integrated human world in an outer sphere Tau expansion territory seems like a safer bet overall as although there are still many risks the Tau aren’t going to have the same expectations of how you fit within human culture, but would in all likelihood be looking to integrate you. If they found out about how you got there they may also be more willing to accept you even if only as a source of information

plenty of 40k fans are dumb enough to unironically be excited at the prospect. Often thinking they'll likely end up being a space marine or inquisitor. As opposed to the more likely scenario of being forced into slavery or made into a servitor, because some modern society entitled soy boy wouldn't survive the vast majority of 40k, let alone stand out enough to be considered for any higher positions in the imperium.

Hello Luetin, great video as always! This one was very intriguing, and I would like to see more of these what if/speculations. May I say that you are my favorite lore TH-camr? I watch your videos like a podcast and listen while going about my day.
It'd be interesting to see if you could reveal yourself as a time traveler to the mechanics. What could you bring with you that would give you credibility as essentially a proto stc?
What I always think about is: how would the imperials interact with people, who lived during the dark age of technology? What if the imperium would find a chamber underneath terra that is super well hidden because their technology was superior to theirs and they find hundreds of high ranking officials or genius scientists of that time frozen in stasis. What if some of those maybe even remember the emperor then and can compare him to now? What would the imperials do if they proudly showed their achievements to those people and would only be greetet with shock and disbelieve? I imagine the dark age of technology people being like: "What have you done to our once beautiful and great empire? What kind of monsters are you? You are not human! You are abominations!" How would the imperials of 40K deal with the fact that their empire is clearly NOT the peak of human achievements? How would the mechanicus deal witht the fact that they, for all their long lives and ability to aquire and progress huge amounts of information could be laughed at and looked down upon by small human sicentists without any or only few augmentations who created everything the mechanicus is using to this day and they are baffled because the mechanicus were not able to improve any of it greatly over such a long time period. I mean knowing how religions and the church works, the imperium would propably ignore any it, declare them heretics, say their downfall was caused by their lack of belief and burn them where they stand, but what IF they wouldnt? What if they were found by someone who was actually willing to listen to them and look the imperium and think about what the imperium COULD have been? Would roboter whinyman be sent into yet another midlife crisis? I can imagine the people of the past be very interested to open diplomatic channels to the tau, necron and eldar, for they would propably be excited to exchange technologies and knowledge and would be able to see the advantage in working together with both races in exterminating the orks and tyranids. but would they really? or would they think about those races the same as the current imperium? im not quite sure how much they knew about the other races during the dark age of technology, so that could be a fun idea to explore. Theres so much I would love to know when it comes to how modern time people were able to communicate to the people of the past. Its kinda the same thought of what would romans think if they were communicating with the people of the middieval ages? would they think them savages and uncivilized apes? would they think themselves superior to them and shake their heads about how much humanity had regressed at that time? or would they be able to overlook how much humanity has forgotten and appreciate all those things they actually had improved on and the things they did actually create and learn?
I'd go to Gudrun. It's a fairly safe, lightly-populated (by Imperial standards) world with a variety of environments, yet it still has all the stuff I'd actually want to see.

Hey Luetin, always super happy to see your uploads! Seeing you go off on your own experimental tangents is really fun. What I'd love to have seen in this video would have been what events or time periods of 40k would you have wanted to time travel to in order to be a fly on the wall. With time travel, we can suspend a lot of disbelief (especially in 40k) so the nitty gritty of rubbing labels off 21st century products is a unique angle, but felt like a waste of the premise IMO. You have such a deep and thoughtful way of looking at 40k as if it was history, and I'd really enjoy hearing what sketchy events in 40k you'd like to use your time traveling powers to bear witness to. I think that premise would give a good platform for you to both show us corners of the 40k lore that many of us may not know about, and also to go off script into head canon and speculation. Essentially, "Top 5 events in 40k I'd time travel to if I could". You don't have to try to answer "what happened" and iron out the intentionally murky wrinkles in the lore, but just seeing 40k through the lens of what mysterious events you personally would like to have been a fly on the wall for would be super interesting to me personally. WIth 40k, it's not the setting that I find interesting on it's own. It's the events, the drama, the machinations. 40k is a super engaging setting to have _things_ happen in, every table top game spawns its own interconnected, but completely isolated, lore. I like 40k best when compelling characters and events are center stage, the setting layers on top of that to give context. But the setting doens't really hold up without the color given by the people and events that fill it. I am likely out of touch with what you consider "hard" or "labor intensive" when preparing a video, but the vibe I'd hope these videos could have for you would be something more off the cuff or less research and preproduciton intensive. Think pub talk with the mates about what gaps in the lore you'd want to have first hand experience with and why those events or places draw in your curiosity. Knowing your content, it sounds unlikely you wouldn't go deep in prep on any subject! But all the same, Im basically just here to view 40k through the interesting lens which is your brain. You do NOT teach such skills without a pretty damned advanced form of communication, aka, language, of some sort....
While SOME people think Language is relatively recent, so in your 50,000 year scale, most are not so arrogant, or in my opinion stupid t take that claim at face value, as its probably bullshit....
Because here is a fun little fact, the vocal chords which give us the capacity of language evolved a LOT longer than 50,000 years ago..... And Hominids were cooperating in social groups far more complex than any animal a LONG time before modern humans evolved....

A running joke is that unlike Star Trek or Star Wars, the 40k fandom are heavily invested in a universe they would never want to visit.

Great comment. I don't find it ethical to promote any other channels by name on someone else's video, especially when it's similar subject matter. As such, I won't name anyone but you're correct on the importance of storytelling ability. There are maybe three other channels I would actually listen to a long lore video from them. The others are good, don't get me wrong but they are more about presenting the info, while Luetin makes it great entertainment. This feels almost like an audiobook or a guided tour rather than just someone reading the lexicanum article

Medieval people wouldn't be that disgusted by a phone. It would definitely confuse people, but unfamiliar technology that you can't wrap your head around has been introduced to people for pretty much all of history. People back then weren't stupid nor anywhere near as zealous(for the most part) as people in 40k.
Similar to how germ theory wouldn't have you burned either. They'd just raise a brow and nod their head and say something along the lines of "Yeah? Uh-huh, okay, whatever, dude."
Though a 40K inquisitor would probably be that way. At least if you gave them the impression that there was any AI being used in it... might want to stay light on apps.

Just so you know, Luetin, there IS a canonical translator in the 40k verse, at least in the recent Rogue Trader game. it's called an elucidator.

One option for the arms trader gig would be night vision goggles. For whatever reason, they are VERY rare in the imperium, but commonplace and comparatively affordable today.

Disagree. Best scenario (moderate risk): you immediately meet a Custodian. They’re the most likely to know an archaic language, and if you claim the Emperor pulled you from his past to help in some manner only he knows you’d at least pique their curiosity, especially if you can recite details from the Great Crusade, talk about the Cybernetic Revolt, and similar.
Same logic: Molech, in front of the Gate. High risk, potentially extremely high reward.
Riskier but available most places: demand to see an Inquisitor and try the same thing, but your odds of being tortured go way up.

I absolutely love the 40k setting. It's sheer scale, the diversity of characters and factions, the interpersonal interactions between nearly immortal beings, the complexity of hive cities are all great and ponderous aspects of a fictional setting. That being said, I hope to God that I never find myself there.

Maybe this is just me, but as a outside visiter to the 40k galaxy I kinda wanna see if I could infliltrate a Chaos cult. Now that sounds insaine until you really think about it, Chaos cults are generally very hidden from the authorities of the Imperium and some even have access to the upper noble levels within hive cities. So if you were to join their ranks maybe as a weapons trader you might be able to access typically blocked off areas of planets. The issue would be is which god the cult worships, Khorn and Nurgle cults are out of the question as they would likely kill you randomly through implulsive violance or deadly disese. Slaneesh cults could be possible to infliltrate depending on how many drugs you're willing to take, but Tzeench cults are likely you're best bet as most of you reading this have a decent amount of knowlege about the 40k universe and the cult might be very interested to learn you're precious knowlege. Also if you guys are thinking that this idea applies to Gensteeler Cults as well then your wrong, as most members of a Gensteeler cult have a synapse link with their fellow members so they will know instantly that you're not one of them. Am I Insaine what do you guys think?
As much as it would completely suck... honestly, joining a Nurgle cult might be one of the only ways you'd have any prayer of surviving any of the future pathogens.

I think Noble might actually be easier than falling in with the rabble. Mostly because with no augmentations Nobles are the ones most likely to be able to say that they're "Clean", and speaking of clean they are also most likely to be the ones that keep their hygiene up like we do.
Also, noble families are also large enough that not everybody knows everybody, so if you can confidently lie about who you're daddy/mommy is I think you can make it pretty easily or at least have an easier start than anywhere else. Especially as a Lowly noble.
Also, knowing Latin apparently helps.

Yeah, in my experience it's usually easier to blag that you're high status than low. Even if you're successful as passing as low status it could still mean you get treated teriibly, at least you get treated well if you get away with being a noble!

The other option might be the high vis jacket plus walkie talkie cosplay, just talk into your radio and walk confidently and you can usually get where you need to go, maybe add a couple of lanyards and wristbands for extra legitimacy :)

The first thing I'm doing BEFORE traveling is giving myself the powers of either cosmic armor superman or Dr. Manhattan, so that if I were to be challenged by any opponents, be they chaos or dark elder or beyond, I would be able to overcome it several times over. Next I would learn Latin for any niche situations. Next, after aiming for the 41st millennium, I would try to land in the bowels of some hive city on an aggriworld and immediately look for work. In a place like this it would be easy to assume an identity because the imperium's bureaucracy is too clogged to notice the difference. From that point on it's all about learning to aquiesse and assimilate both socially and culturally which would probably take anywhere from 5 months to a year. After that, it's basically a playground. Maybe you get bored so you try to get hired by a rogue trader. Maybe you just fly off into space every now and again. The sky is basically the limit for whatever amount of time you are there because of the preparation taken before arrival. Bit of a long reply but yeah, if I have the technology to travel there through time, I'm not leaving until I give myself a buff first lol.
That assumes that those powers can coexist with the laws of physics in 40K.
I don't presently see why they wouldn't given one would be travelling from their universe to the 40k universe. Even if we count the 40k universe as existing within our own, I'm sure the DAOT would have had something on par with the acquisition of those sorts of powers.@@alwynwatson6119
I may be crazy, but that's my top 3 :
- Going to Baal Secundus right before Sanguinius' pod would land. I wouldn't try to change anything to the story, I would just try to survive long enough to see the Angel's doings with my own eyes, and eventually, if I haven't been irradied to death yet, enroll into the Blood Angel legion.
- Get a drink with Ciaphas Cain.
- Try to become an Inquisitor in M41.
You wouldn’t try to prevent the traitorous arcs of some of the primarchs or prevent certain events from happening? It could be easy to do for some of them.
You could make sure Kor Phaeron & Erebus “disappear” so they never get the chance to dig their claws into Lorgar.
Or you could tell Magnus it would be better to physically teleport to the front door of the Imperial Palace personally rather than trying to manifest directly into the Emperor’s laboratories, thus saving the Webway project and preventing a warp portal permanently opening on Terra itself. Etc.

I wouldn't try to prevent horus from falling into chaos though. People often consider Erebus as the catalyst for the entire heresy, but I believe that even without him and his sorcery the chaos god would have still found a way to corrupt Lorgar, Horus, and any other primarch they had their eyes set on.

Sure, the primarch would bring some, but so many astartes already being turned through the lodges helped massively. Without that lodge in each legion/chapter/company/ship/expedition fleet, it would not have been such a large schism. especially among legions like the white scars and dark angels.

On the matter of translation mcguffins: one instance a „Lingua Servitor“ was mentioned was in „Courage and Honour“ by Graham McNeill. It was used by the Ultramarines to interrogate a T‘au prisoner and it was implied they had more than one language translator.
Always good to see a new LT upload. I'd love you to cover teleportation in 40k as it's such a huge technology which would really break a lot of fictional verses, but even though it's mentioned from time to time I've never seen its 40k version's limits, applications and main users explained.

I’ve been thinking on this concept a lot when I got into the lore especially recently and I also agree that Feudal worlds are probably the best places as it’s less dangerous than other places. I also got a true feel of the how totalitarian the imperium is and it was a very scary. Amazing video loved every second of it, love all of your work! Keep it up!

I have kicked this idea around before in my head, Astrates drop pods are hitting military bases worldwide while Guard Regiments are taking cities. Meanwhile I'm carrying around the inquisitor rosette replica I keep in my workshop and trying to get them to stop. " Stop in the name of the inquisition! My master has set up this low tech world in an effort to replicate the development of the STC's! And we are getting close, they have started developing something called CHATGPT, which could be the precursor to full STC's!"

Something I feel that's semi-important is who you time travel too and when.
For example, I feel you'd have a much higher chance of surviving and mibby even thriving if you were to appear just before the start of the Great Crusade and appeared to someone like Urda, Malcador, Grammaticus, even Big E at that time as each would realise/understand what you are and how important the things you know are.
Not saying it's a 100% foolproof way of not getting turned in to a drooling idiot, but it's worth a stab.

It would be interesting to see a vid about traveling to the future and joining another faction apart from the imperium, either as a normal human or something that fits in (e.g. mutated human for Chaos or grot/eldar for xenos). Great vid as always :D
The irony is that once you get to 40k world the easiest way for you to integrate yourself into local society is yo join a Chaos cult. If the cult in question is powerful it can get you any ID you require and help you get a job. If you share some info about 3k or what you know as a 40k reader/player/Luetin09 sub, then you are going places as long for example local noble is a Chaos worshiper.
Yes you can and probably will end up dead or sacrificed or turned into something creepy, but if you try something similar with loyalists, you will die no matter what, theres no chance to go up in life

I had thought about this before, you get transported there without any prep, assuming you get dumped on a random world. although this is very risky I would probably try to get the attention of the inquisition 50/50 you get tortured to death or become a vital asset with meta knowledge of the verse. Alternatively try to pass yourself as a psycer and try to get transport to Tera via a black ship, won’t have to worry about sister of silence melting your brain and they would probably be a bit more reasonable than the inquisition. Or if your inclined become a chaos cultist and hope for the best.
None of these ideas are good at all.

There is just one small problem. 40K has completely different physics from the real world. Orbital mechanics are not a thing for a start. But also as far as we know nothing like the warp exists in the real world. That means the instant you get transported there is a possibility that in 40K you end up being an extremely powerful psyker or blank (but you never noticed because of no warp). Either one would be bad because you would not be accustomed to being either and the emperor would probably react to killing you as quickly as possible. If any physics linked to neurology changes significantly it will create a kind of shock. So you might not even survive the trip between universes.
More luetin is always good! You're knowledge and experience on the matter makes everything more appealing to watch
As someone who would die on the Guilliman hill, i would love to know about the worlds of ultramar and how they vary from the rest of the worlds of the Imperium.
I really enjoyed you taking this perspective of a time traveler to this universe it created a very tangible sense of immersion and in my opinion allowed for thinking about aspects I wouldn't usually consider coming from the more omnipotent perspective we usually have. Having to think about the intricacies and ways an individual would have to adapt themselves to this universe no matter how much they know about it was very refreshing and added way more layers to the reality of what life is like there. Its also very fortunate that Warhammer 40k just so happens to be a world where very few would listen to you if you were from another time as it reinforced that sense of having to bend to the functioning of the universe and not come in with a sense of slight superiority due to knowing so much more than the average person. I would live to see more videos in this vein or at least with this kind of humbling and thought provoking perspectives

In general, most of your advice is correct at a surface level. But each world has it's own unique differences. For example, most worlds would NEVER let the common rabble into the Govenor's Palace. However, in one of the earlier Ciaphas Cain books, it's mentioned that the Govenor opened the outer gardens on some special holidays each year to the public, such as on Emperor's Day. It's likely that many worlds in the Imperium would have special, specific days where the public can visit places they normally never could, or a more relaxed outlook on the rigidity of social stratas.

If I had the ability to choose at all whatsoever exactly where I could end up in 40K I would choose Maccragge. Of all places it seems the safest and most civil for a basic pleb of the imperium and you might get the random chance to witness some ultramarines in the flesh!

You're so good at faking being an inquisitor that you go years without discovery only to one day trip into a real inquisitor. Through the interrogation they learn of all your exploits and the sheer audacity in which you pulled them off. The Inquisitor gives a nod to his interrogator to which the interrogator says to you "you want a job?"

Turning up on a newly integrated human world in an outer sphere Tau expansion territory seems like a safer bet overall as although there are still many risks the Tau aren’t going to have the same expectations of how you fit within human culture, but would in all likelihood be looking to integrate you. If they found out about how you got there they may also be more willing to accept you even if only as a source of information

plenty of 40k fans are dumb enough to unironically be excited at the prospect. Often thinking they'll likely end up being a space marine or inquisitor. As opposed to the more likely scenario of being forced into slavery or made into a servitor, because some modern society entitled soy boy wouldn't survive the vast majority of 40k, let alone stand out enough to be considered for any higher positions in the imperium.
@lukeskywalker82 As someone mentioned Trazyn might be the safest bet just because of his curiosity. Whether or not the environment he’s in is survivable at the time is questionable. 😂
Hello Luetin, great video as always! This one was very intriguing, and I would like to see more of these what if/speculations. May I say that you are my favorite lore TH-camr? I watch your videos like a podcast and listen while going about my day.
It'd be interesting to see if you could reveal yourself as a time traveler to the mechanics. What could you bring with you that would give you credibility as essentially a proto stc?
What I always think about is: how would the imperials interact with people, who lived during the dark age of technology?
What if the imperium would find a chamber underneath terra that is super well hidden because their technology was superior to theirs and they find hundreds of high ranking officials or genius scientists of that time frozen in stasis.
What if some of those maybe even remember the emperor then and can compare him to now?
What would the imperials do if they proudly showed their achievements to those people and would only be greetet with shock and disbelieve?
I imagine the dark age of technology people being like: "What have you done to our once beautiful and great empire? What kind of monsters are you? You are not human! You are abominations!"
How would the imperials of 40K deal with the fact that their empire is clearly NOT the peak of human achievements?
How would the mechanicus deal witht the fact that they, for all their long lives and ability to aquire and progress huge amounts of information could be laughed at and looked down upon by small human sicentists without any or only few augmentations who created everything the mechanicus is using to this day and they are baffled because the mechanicus were not able to improve any of it greatly over such a long time period.
I mean knowing how religions and the church works, the imperium would propably ignore any it, declare them heretics, say their downfall was caused by their lack of belief and burn them where they stand, but what IF they wouldnt?
What if they were found by someone who was actually willing to listen to them and look the imperium and think about what the imperium COULD have been?
Would roboter whinyman be sent into yet another midlife crisis?
I can imagine the people of the past be very interested to open diplomatic channels to the tau, necron and eldar, for they would propably be excited to exchange technologies and knowledge and would be able to see the advantage in working together with both races in exterminating the orks and tyranids. but would they really? or would they think about those races the same as the current imperium? im not quite sure how much they knew about the other races during the dark age of technology, so that could be a fun idea to explore.
Theres so much I would love to know when it comes to how modern time people were able to communicate to the people of the past.
Its kinda the same thought of what would romans think if they were communicating with the people of the middieval ages?
would they think them savages and uncivilized apes?
would they think themselves superior to them and shake their heads about how much humanity had regressed at that time?
or would they be able to overlook how much humanity has forgotten and appreciate all those things they actually had improved on and the things they did actually create and learn?

I'd go to Gudrun. It's a fairly safe, lightly-populated (by Imperial standards) world with a variety of environments, yet it still has all the stuff I'd actually want to see.

Hey Luetin, always super happy to see your uploads! Seeing you go off on your own experimental tangents is really fun. What I'd love to have seen in this video would have been what events or time periods of 40k would you have wanted to time travel to in order to be a fly on the wall. With time travel, we can suspend a lot of disbelief (especially in 40k) so the nitty gritty of rubbing labels off 21st century products is a unique angle, but felt like a waste of the premise IMO.
You have such a deep and thoughtful way of looking at 40k as if it was history, and I'd really enjoy hearing what sketchy events in 40k you'd like to use your time traveling powers to bear witness to. I think that premise would give a good platform for you to both show us corners of the 40k lore that many of us may not know about, and also to go off script into head canon and speculation. Essentially, "Top 5 events in 40k I'd time travel to if I could". You don't have to try to answer "what happened" and iron out the intentionally murky wrinkles in the lore, but just seeing 40k through the lens of what mysterious events you personally would like to have been a fly on the wall for would be super interesting to me personally. WIth 40k, it's not the setting that I find interesting on it's own. It's the events, the drama, the machinations. 40k is a super engaging setting to have _things_ happen in, every table top game spawns its own interconnected, but completely isolated, lore. I like 40k best when compelling characters and events are center stage, the setting layers on top of that to give context. But the setting doens't really hold up without the color given by the people and events that fill it.
I am likely out of touch with what you consider "hard" or "labor intensive" when preparing a video, but the vibe I'd hope these videos could have for you would be something more off the cuff or less research and preproduciton intensive. Think pub talk with the mates about what gaps in the lore you'd want to have first hand experience with and why those events or places draw in your curiosity. Knowing your content, it sounds unlikely you wouldn't go deep in prep on any subject! But all the same, Im basically just here to view 40k through the interesting lens which is your brain.
