Mogpog Moryon Parade 2013

The now famous "Moriones Festival" or Moryonan started in the small town of Mogpog, Marinduque, Philippines in the late 1800 or about 1887. A folk religious tradition initiated by then Parish Priest Fr. Dionisio Santiago, to gain more followers into the Catholic faith and reenacted the life of St. Longinus, the Roman soldier assigned to head and pierced the side of Christ, and was later converted from pagan to Christian faith, that cost his life as he was later beheaded by the the Roman hierarchy.
