I just bought a Ferris ISX2200. I was originally going with the ISX800 which has the same suspension as your IS700. But I’m almost 72 years and want to save my back from potential stress so I went to the ISX2200 which has the same suspension as the ISX3200 and a similar seat but with a slightly lower backrest. I have lots of tree roots so my lawn is bumpy in places. I think I made the right choice. It’s like taking your Lazy Boy out for a ride.

I spent hours watching and reading, some commenting on this video. I will say this. Your video work is awesome! Camera person did fantastic. Editing was also awesome. It was worth the time I spent. Hope you have great results in compensation for your time. There are always going to be know it all's. There are always people out there that will only comment negative crap. Haters. Clearly you were testing machines and it was not all about quality of the cut. Smooth ride with as fast as you can to get the job done. My wife laughs about how fast I cut the grass. We are all bias to an extent. I own two Scag mowers and do not have one acre of grass on my property, so I cut two of my neighbors' properties just for fun. Thank you for the video and your service. I am just the pilot so don't know anything.

I have a Ferris is700z like yours with a 61" deck and I love it. I'm retired and my wife and I mow 25 lawns to supplement our social security. We started out with two John Deere x320 lawn tractors until i found my used Ferris with 9 hours on it. The biggest drawback to it is the weight. The JD weighs 750lbs while the Ferris weighs 1100lbs. My x320 will go in the wet while the Ferris will get stuck in the blink of an eye. The JD has a 48" deck which will get into tight places the 60" Ferris can't get. So I'd never be without that little tractor because it'll go where the Ferris won't. The Ferris has the speed and width of cut. As far as that goes it blows the doors off that tractor. Until of course when my wife goes flying by me while I'm sitting there stuck. I loved your exclamation "Lord have mercy" when you took off with that 3300. Those zero turns do fly. Great comparison. I especially liked your comment about mowing on the real world.

I have a walk behind SCAG 52" with a sulky that I've had for about 12 years. Kawi 17 hp motor, we used it in our lawncare/landscaping business we had for about 4 of those 12 years. Properly maintained, well treated, and she's always first pull start, does a great job ... HOWEVER, The property we bought 3 years ago is mostly, somewhat, flat but VERY bumpy, one spot is very hilly, I've operated and or owned almost every manufacturer mower except the Ferris. My neighbor just bought a 52" Ferris a couple years ago, and loves it! He actually told me that he and his wife see me mowing and feel bad for me, due to the violently bumpy ride....it's actually easier on my back and bones to walk it instead of using the sulky. lol. Anyway, everyone I've talked to has said the same thing: Yes, you're gonna pay, but you'll probably never buy another mower....Our property is 1 acre, I do think the full Ferris 4 link suspension is what I want, 52" deck, Best seat they offer, Kawasaki motor, etc, just having a hard time wrapping my head around spending 12k or so on a mower ..... thoughts?

I bought an isx2200 a few years back and it’s definitely a huge difference over a regular ride on or none suspension ztr. I used my neighbors box store zero turn and it beat me pretty bad. The Ferris is like a Caddy compared to the other ztrs. Though I would not suggest mowing at full speed. I generally mow my 1 acre at 5 to 6 mph for a good cut, but I’m at a disadvantage as I need to overseed to fill in my yard so it will have more lift.

I've had a Ferris IS1500Z since 2008, best purchase I've ever made. Built like a tank, mow very rough terrain, plus bush trails and has needed zero repairs. A tip about using the steering handles, I rest my forearms on the arm rests, and then put the handles between my ring and middle fingers lower down on the handles. The controls are so precise and easy to move all that is necessary is to move your fingers abit. Much better control than holding the handles at the top like shown in the video.

The ex mark laser, Z is the dominant mower in Orlando. You do see Scag and now very little John Deere. I guess it was two years ago. John Deere took all their mowers out of there, dealer net work and ship them out to their farm style stores. We have two Ferris dealers in the Orlando area. It would seem that most of the people that owned Ferris in Orlando one point in time have now switched over to Toro.

I did help a friend a couple years later and he had 2 Commercial Ferris mowers. I really liked them and they were very smooth. He says he hasnt had any major issues with them over the years.

Good video Tony, I just bought the new Stihl RZ972i Built by Ferris with the Briggs and Stratton Vanguard 40hp with the Oil Guard. I test drove Hustler, Exmark, Bad Boy and John Deere( z970r with Tweels). The ride quality of the Stihl/Ferris was far Superior than any that I test drove. I cut approximately 7 acres, I don't use this mower in a commercial environment I will never cut grass at 10,11,or 12 MPH, How comfortable the ride is maters more to me than how fast I can cut. Stihl/Ferris in my opinion is the best riding Zero Turn on the market. This is the first Zero tun mower for me also.

Wow, that is one of the best reviews I have seen or comparisons I have seen. If Ferris isn't paying you they should for this video. I had bought the ferris Z 1000 I bought it new in 2003 and I mowed my own lawn with it until 2001. That was an awesome mower but after I sold it I bought the 800 ISX Ferris which has the independent suspension. The 1000 Z did not have a suspension. And you can tell the difference for sure. I am just a homeowner and just do my own lawn. But if I was a commercial lawn care provider I cannot imagine mowing all day on a lawn without independent suspension like the Ferris. Makes me want to sell my 800 and go for the big 3300 but that would be overkill for sure LOL. Great video!

Great video and very informative, my friend. I’ve got 2 Gravely 72” mowers, one I bought in 2001, which has been through the devil’s domain with new property in the country. Barbed wire hits, large stones, stumps, etc. The newer Gravely has had it easier, but not easy. The land areas now are cleaned up. I’m thinking the new Stihl 972, which is a Ferris with a different paint job, and a few extra bells and whistles. I switched from an Ariens 48" ZT which was okay, but I have about 5 acres to cut which is rough. I needed suspension and the speed of a ZT to keep the time reasonable. Went with a Ferris ISX2200 in 2022 which is very close to the 3300 for a reduced price. Briggs 28 hp with dry sump and 500 hr oil change. I have about 90 hours on it now with no complaints and very happy with the suspension and air ride seat. No head rest on my seat which is an option and I don't think it would ever be needed anyway. Other then that, it looks exactly like the 3300. You'd better have some deep pockets though, these commercial units are not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Another thing to consider is the Stihl version, which is made by Ferris. Mike Morgan on YT Outdoors with the Morgan's has one and video'ed it on his channel about a year ago.

This Spring I got a 27 hp Toro Titan HD that is comparable to your Ferris. It is a great machine with basically the same seat as the Exmark you were running. It has been a great mower for me. It cut my personal mowing time down from almost 3 hours to just under 1 hour. The Toro I have is very close to the Exmark you had, EXCEPT it has a suspension, but not quite as well done as the Ferris.
I'm one of those cops you mentioned that cuts grass and does tractor work with my LS MT125 as a side hustle. I will say that Ferris has the suspension systems figured out for sure. If I was 8-10 hours a day on a mower for a living, I'd likely be running a Ferris for the comfort as long as they hold up comparably well to the Exmarks and Toros.

That big Ferris is a hoss for sure, looks comfortable enough to pull up under that shade tree and have a nap. I live near you, and mow in Montgomery/Stewart county. I can say in rural mowing all 3 would be great, but around here a lot of uneven terrain which i feel would benefit the Ferris. Exmark sure sells a lot of mowers, i have the spartan commercial, because i got a deal I couldn’t pass up, from my trailer dealer. I’m in the market for a stand on, due to nimbleness, and gate sizes, ive looked at Ferris, skag, and gravely. I’m not sure which direction im going for next year when i start my first big contract. If you got the opportunity to run a stand on, id be interested in your thoughts on it.

The exmark x-series you have in the video is 12 mph not 10. As far as the steering input being sensitive the dampeners have 3 different settings. The Ferris hands down has ride quality for sure however with exmark its the quality of cut us landscapers are after as well as the components used in the machine. As far as engine horsepower commercial operators typically cut the exact same yards every single week therefore higher horsepower isn't required.

They will never switch back to solid frame mower ever! The mower is built so well, their cost is about the same. The key thing you left out of your equation, is You! The old Emark will beat your body to death. One other thought, do you buy solid frame autos? They go down the road for hundreds of thousands of miles under much harder conditions. The Ferris is built to automotive standards, but under much less harsh conditions.

    • @ifyoutip
      @ifyoutip 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

You skipped the most important step for ride quality. Check the tire pressure. Make sure they are not over inflated like most are. That is where the ride quality starts. I have a 60" Lazer Z and also a radius 60" exmark with suspension. I believe my lazer has 27 hp though. They sell lower hp engines to save money and fuel economy. Always go with the bigger engine if you ever plan to mow anything tall. The suspension on my exmark is pretty cool. But i still cant mow much above 7mph or the deck can bounce. The ferris suspension is cool as long as you don't run a heavy bagger. I bought exmark because of a good dealer and the quality of cut. That exmark probably also has the deck springs adjusted pretty tight. It makes the deck bounce more. They adjust them tight to make them easy to lift for height adjustment. I would like to try a Ferris next time I buy another one. I aint never had the front wheels come off the ground because of a hill like he states in the video. Must be really rough ground. I would smooth the yard out a bit if it was mine. Make the ride better and also be better on the machine.

You really need to work on those 3 point turns. As for suspension, on a mower, not good on the wheels, they drop off the curbs and down into holes. My ride is better. But truth be told. Slow down if rough. Its not a race. Exmark and toro have the prettiest cut hands down. Not sure why though.

  • @ShaneZettelmier

I’d love to try the big Ferris. They’re made by Briggs & Stratton and they also make simplicity and at least one other brand I can’t remember the name of now. Toro makes the ExMark.
One thing I did notice about all of them, when you’re going near top speed with the suspension or without the deck still bounces, and you’ll miss some spots because the deck will be higher. Mine does the same thing. I’ve got a bad boy maverick. It has , a little bit of suspension on the front axle and on each of the rear wheels and it definitely helps. I drove another model without the suspension but it had a suspension seat and it was about the same comfort level. Mine goes 9 miles an hour, and the other one went to 12 miles an hour, but I think even the 9 miles an hour is pretty fast and a little too fast for most yards but if you were doing a football field or a golf course or some thing nice and smooth and doing several acres I can definitely see where you’d want something with the speed.
It’s pretty cool the local dealer let you borrow a couple to try out

I upgraded to a bigger Bad Boy that my first, so I can put lights and sun shade on the ROPS. It's easy to see why someone mowing all day long prefers the less punishing ride with better suspension, and the more elaborate seat.

he never did show us how to adjust anything and yes the Camera man needs a muzzle. he confused the hole video and made it take 5 times longer than needed. now i have to find another video that might actually tell how to adjust the deck and the tension springs. but thanks any way it was only half an hour of my day.

Ok toro/exmark are great mower the cut so much better then that Ferris mow I have talked to a lot of contractors that drive those ferris 3300s and they said toro and exmark better cut suspension. The Ferris is better.

I gave my opinion based on the results in front of me at the time of the test. I think the Ferris ISX 3300 is a better solution for real world yards. IMO

Exmark should being one of the best mowers been had suspension and they suck for it. Mowing 100 lawns a week on a lazer z my back is absolutely fed

      That's because you're a liar. You don't mow a hundred yards a week.

I don't understand trying to mow wide open people mowing in the commerical business are not out here mowing wide open on these mower's that's a great way to get someone hurt or kill your equipment. I look at it like just because your car or truck will go 120 mph ae you going to do it going everywhere you go 🤔 all 3 mowers are great mowers when used correctly.

    • @TonysTractorAdventure
      @TonysTractorAdventure  ปีที่แล้ว +2

That is what people that don't own a Ferris or people with small yards say. In the real world, people need to mow as fast as they can safely. Of course the operator will need to slow down in tight spaces and near obstacles. I felt perfectly comfortable mowing as fast as the Ferris Mower Company rated both of their mowers to mow in an open yard. I certainly didn't feel that way with the Exmark. It was unsafe to operate wide open at its rated speed under what I consider to be a normal yard. Using a car going 120mph is a horrible example. I can walk at 4-5 mph. If you don't feel comfortable going 12mph, mowing may not be for you. The fact is this, the Exmark mower is not in the same league as a Ferris. Anyone that says otherwise is blinded by brand loyalty. I don't have a dog in the race and I am not a zero-turn lifer. I am however an equipment operator lifer.

@@TonysTractorAdventure so as you said in your video your new to the zero turn mowers and if you believe that these landscaping and yard maintenance companies are run these mower's as fast as they will go you are sadly mistaken I don't mean to be rude but I have some friends in the lawn maintenance business and have been doing it for 20 years or more and we have talked about mowing speed and they always say you lose the quality cut when you mow at speeds over 8mph.

It seems they need to get a Ferris. My 20 year friend has been selling and servicing commercial mowers for 15 years. Each commercial mower company that buys a Ferris feels like the world has changed for them. Their backs are not beat up and they get done quicker.

Ferris is nice but will we be bogged down with repairs on that suspension system after thousands of hours of use. Sometimes you can get too fancy.

    • @TonysTractorAdventure

Yet, you are driving around in an automobile which is a 1000 times more complex. If you look at a Ferris up close, there is nothing fancy about them. Suspension has been figured out since the days of the wagon. In this comment feed, there are comment after comment from owners with thousands of hours of use. They would never think about using another mower. Their body is better for it too. You didn't even think about taking into account your body break downs from getting the tar beat out of you.

@TonysTractorAdventure No, I'm not either. I drive an old truck. I have the ability to repair the new stuff, but I prefer not to have to depend on all that electronic stuff. The Ferris has more components. Therefore, it has more components to fail. Logic should tell you that in a commercial environment, your down time will be increased. Time will tell on the Ferris, but until it's a proven system to me, it's still low hour home owner equipment. I've got machines that have 6k hours on them with little more than regular maintenance. Blades, belts, oil and filters, etc. Remember that employees don't always treat your equipment the same as you do your car. The fewer the failure points, the more reliable your service will be.

You do you. My body is worth it. Your body has a bunch of failure points. You can buy new mowers. Did you ever think about the beating your mowers give the parts on it. I have talked to at least 100 commercial guys with Ferris. They all say the same thing. They will never go back. They put as many hours as you.

If you can afford it and have a lot of grass to cut in the long run, your spine is the most important item on the truck. The customer is just paying you to cut the grass. The Engine , transmission sound, and rides are looking good for the Ferris I bet if you show your customer your new suspension mower. he’ll be very impressed

  • @jasoneli3779

The way your mowing is not going to look right, your blowing all your grass in one direction and then mowing through it and mowing twice the amount of grass as you should be mowing when stripping correctly. Will have a big impact on the howcome of your lawn
