I used to mow a 20 acre yard for a farmer, and he had the high end Ferris mower. That was the smoothest mower on the bumpiest terrain ever.. such an awesome mower
The seats suck I got one but man get a nice flat yard and set sail I love mine I don't hate old toro I have one but the new ones suck same with ferris and exmark there all the Same just a god damn nightmare to work on just a simple belt swap is why I abandoned my exmark in the corner Now I run bad boy cub cadet and Dixie chopper I still got a old toro as well all have simulator running gear except Dixie chopper has huge hydro
I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.
As with most people that live on ranch I have owned many riding mowers in my lifetime. Mostly John Deere mowers and ZTR types. That was until I rode a Ferris ztr..... Only way I go green or any other color again is if they have a better ride than a Ferris. My 61 year old back and shoulders love the smooth Ferris ride.
If I could buy a Ferris at American prices, I'd buy one tomorrow. I priced a Ferris with suspension here in Australia, $26,000. So, I'll be sticking to my Husqvarna for some time to come. Mine had 110 hrs on it, and it cost me $7,500. Brand new were over $13,000.
Had a lot of rider mowers , but never a good one . The econo mowers will work but gotta take it easy . As soon as wife/son/grandchild runs one then it's junk . No matter how often you say that you will hook up the haybine and cut the most of it , they will always take the mower to cut three foot tall moist grass . Want a commercial machine but scared it will get wreaked too
@@richby30 Yeah, at these prices, I can't see them selling many mowers in Australia. I understand it's not the fault of Ferris. It's got to do with greedy dealers here in Australia.

I make my living on test driving, repairing and lastly diagnosing pretty much every brand of equipment as I'm not a dealer. I often replace these problematic KAWS with Kohler. 930 cuts easily at rated speed...16 MPH with no issues. (2) Dixie Chopper...but the old ones...prior to Company reorganization. I currently just tested an XT2800 Quad Loop "Extreme" 60" and it's still a beast. 28HP Kohler Pro EFI made in 2000... direct, hydraulic motor traction drives to rear whls....both sides. Factory two stage oil cooler (hydro) w/ also a 12v blower....thermostat controlled. Double fuel filtration; add'l engine oil cooler. Best design ever and also with a heavy, squared beam frame....dry unit weight 1400#. Rough terrain mow flat out...14 MPH and it's comfortable. ......great video but sadly the new stuff sucks. Hey surviving country life I have a question what is your opinion on the lawn boy I have a Lawn-Boy self-propelled dual Force push mower with mulching action would you recommend a Lawn-Boy? In your opinion
I run a Ferris and Dixie chopper and a grasshopper. You were racing an old Dixie chopper against a new Ferris when that Dixie chopper was maid it probably was the fastest get you a new one and race then. Dixie also has a suspension system now but the Ferris is hard to beat I’ve been at a company for 25 years and we still use the first Ferris we ever bought it’s got to be 15 years old and a high end grasshopper diesel is hard to beat also but if I had my pick it would be a 60 inch Ferris with the Kawasaki engine for the money I would go with the Ferris it’s also hard to get parts hear for the Dixie the grasshopper hopper industrial mowers are more reliable and easy to get parts for the Ferris is a little easier than the Dixie to get parts for but for the right price i would by any of them again
How do you keep the lawn the same height with a suspension on a lawn mower? Then if you get a big guy on it you'd have to reset the deck height? Don't get me wrong I would want a soft ride but zero turns are already pretty smooth. So.....?
the Ferris cuts better, smoother and faster apparently. it probably didn't help that you were only using 45" of your deck. you shouldn't cut over your last stripe if you like striped grass
Haha. Thanks man. I love that comment. He won by a mile but I still love my dixie chopper. I've been using it on my lawn every 5 or 6 days or so right now
Looks like a real nice day Ben. I guess I'LL comment on the mower battle. ..He put the SMACKDOWN on ya brother😁. way to take it like a man. HAHAA.. Good video slow Poke.
As a former dealer for both brands when I retired and went into landscaping to enjoy the sunshine and get away from that crazy phone all day. I went with Dixie Chopper classics in my buisness. Nothing wrong with the ferris and the ride is good but when you have worked on them all the time replacing shocks every year gets old and mowing hillsides the stair stack cut is not a good thing. the silver eagle here is not really a fair comparison since that mower was originally designed for homeowner use not commercial. Both good machines and a lot of your purchase if you cannot repair on your own should be how good of a dealer you have.
Take off your headache bar, sharper turns and you can beat him! I have a dixie chopper 16 yrs old) and owned a Ferris (brand new) cut not outcut my Dixie !
Dixie for the loss. I owned the 6th Dixie to come to Michigan in 1987. It sucked, but at the time was amazing. Iv owned 3. Been using bobcat last 25 yrs
I have a 72" Ferris that I mow my 20 acre property with. It's bumpy ground and mowers without a suspension can't keep up. Even with a kidney belt and strong abs a non-suspension mower beats you up faster.
I've owned an IZ700 Ferris for over 5 years and will never sell or trade it for any other brand! I've been in the mowing business full time for well over 15 years. I bought a brand new 60" Dixie Chopper and took it back the same day I bought it and wanted my money back I hated it so much. It was to slow, impossible to keep in a straight line, rough ride, the control arms where hard to move. Right in the manual it stated if this was used commercially there was no warranty! The dealer refused to take it back, come to find out Dixie was going out of business! I traded it for a brand new Kobita, and within a month the spindles burned out, they were sealed, no grease fittings. I just bought a new TORO with the MIRIDE system and my 5 year old Ferris rides and handles far better!
That was hilarious!! Now that the carbon build up is cleared from both engines do it again.. Hahaha Nothing wrong with brothers competing as long as both of you have fun doing it..

Haha. Thnx man. Ive got the chopper and am happy with it. I have a small acerage and it works awesome for me. Also a major purchase for me so I need to make it last for years. My brother has the ferris
Why would anyone want to be beat to death going fast? I'm shopping for a new mower. Not sure I want a zero turn or not. Live in country and yard is kind of rough. Mowing approximately 2.5 acres.
I think that both are very good lawnmowers.. I personally use a Bad Boy zero turn and it works great for me. I also think when it comes to mowers its just what a person prefer. Its a lot of great zero turn lawnmowers out there
This is the first shootout I’ve seen between a Ferris and a Dixie Hopper! I’ve owned two of the Dixie’s and it was the worst riding machine I’ve ever owned so I switched to ExMark and now Toro, but I think I’m going to go look at the Ferris now because my back only gets worse each year…
I need to find some people that want to race like this at my house every week. I would even offer a $10 first prize and $5 to the looser for mowing my 5 acres. LOL
I've got an older Dixie XT3200 with 1280 hours and the 35HP Generac engine...I have also modified it with the springer front forks and a suspension seat, it's all the mower anybody needs, I never use everything that mower can give. The Ferris did do a nice job, but really no homeowner is going to be in that big of a hurry to cut the backyard right?
I am. 4 acres of bumpy grass. I have an xt3200 as well and it's pure hell.. That mower tosses me around like a rag doll. Takes me 1.5-2.5 hours to cut 4 flat/bumpy acres and striping sucks.
That was fun but you never had a chance. I think the Ferris is also better priced. But I have one and they ride smooth and cut great. Was he also a rookie with a zero turn?

I just spent 11 min of my life watching 2 bros cutting grass🤣
gotta get another ex wife lined up🤣
Very is better because the ride is amazing
Hi Ben!!😀😀🤣🤣
I think Dixie Chopper lied!!
My father in law has one and I do really like it. But the Farris is a really good machine.
Take care my friend and stay safe and healthy!!😀😀❤
I love my dixie but that ferris is really impressive. It was faster with better cut grass
Lol good job Ben once this weather breaks I’ll be putting mine out lol that Ferris kind of whopped up on that chopper 😂😂. It may have been the fastest back in its day but the zero turn has come along way. Good vid bud.
Thanks man. I still like my chopper but he beat me all the way around. Looking forward to your vids
Yes the ferris is very evolved, the others are all stuck in the past.
This video was awesome! The Ferris won but the Chopper did a good job! You guys left it all on the field! Did you keep the Chopper or did you buy a Ferris?
Haha. Thnx man. Ive got the chopper and am happy with it. I have a small acerage and it works awesome for me. Also a major purchase for me so I need to make it last for years. My brother has the ferris
Everyone already knows the guy with the bigger deck wins.
One inch is huge difference. Especially to the lady customers.
The Ferris is a way better mower!
My Dixie Chopper with 40hp, 72” deck would blow that Ferris away!
Why would anyone want to be beat to death going fast? I'm shopping for a new mower. Not sure I want a zero turn or not. Live in country and yard is kind of rough. Mowing approximately 2.5 acres.
Where is this located?
Great video, looked like fun
Ferris and Dixie engineers are viewing this
Finally a real life test of a mower
That was hilarious,nice job guys
Thanks man
I think that both are very good lawnmowers.. I personally use a Bad Boy zero turn and it works great for me. I also think when it comes to mowers its just what a person prefer. Its a lot of great zero turn lawnmowers out there
I think your right. I do still really like and enjoy my dixie chopper
This is the first shootout I’ve seen between a Ferris and a Dixie Hopper! I’ve owned two of the Dixie’s and it was the worst riding machine I’ve ever owned so I switched to ExMark and now Toro, but I think I’m going to go look at the Ferris now because my back only gets worse each year…
Instead of backing out he turned around IN THE TRAILER like bruh back it out lol
I love dixie but in all fairness ferris won this one great video 👍👍
It sure did. It beat me by a long ways
I own a Ferris!
There is nothing better!
Unless you go industrial.
U just sold a lot of Ferris mowers 😂
Great video God bless praise Jesus praying for everyone
Thanks man
I need to find some people that want to race like this at my house every week. I would even offer a $10 first prize and $5 to the looser for mowing my 5 acres. LOL
Haha. That would be awesome
Wow, never even heard of ferris, but this sold me on it. Much smoother ride, faster, cooler looking, and did a better job overall.
Ferris is N1 lawn mower
Yes he was. It was new to him. It sure is a bigger faster machine for sure
i saw vid of 4 or 5 top mowers hustler was fastest by far dixie was slowest😂 but honestly fast and mowing don't go together😂
Really, try on an Excalibur and let me know how that goes. I love the ride of the Ferris but they aren’t durable.
Ferris isn’t durable?!?
Huh? I think you have Ferris confused with your Troy-Bilt.
America First My grandpa has had his Ferris IS5100Z since early 2000s. Barely any maintenance at all. Just stuff like oil, tire, blade changes etc. Very durable
Does your brother want to sell that old multi colored dodge at 9:54?
Maybe. It started as a project for him about 4 years ago that he was excited about but he seems to have lost interest now
The biggest fish in a pond think it's the baddest until you put him in the ocean 😂😂😂
For sure. He beat the heck out of me
