That voice is no longer with us, a fleeting existence in her childhood, and we have the recording to treasure, and the artist to carry on to grown up greatness.
It’s not whether she’s a better singer now. Clearly, she is. But her early recordings stand completely on their own as just remarkable performances where we first see the same talents we still see today. But watching the confidence and stage presence of Angelina at 7-9 years old is something I’ve never seen before in 70 years. And, listening to a very young Angelina bring back musical eras so authentically with her covers of 60 year old classics is just a joy.
Soon after she won NGT , a couple months later at the Summer Festival at the border she sang Dinah Washington ' What a Difference a Day Makes '.. So ,so , good. Actually , I'd say sublime. And the bow at the end to the crowd, so endearing 😍😍
If you want early Angelina, try "I WHO HAVE NOTHING" in studio when she was 6. She mentioned starting at 1 1/2. There is a vid clip of her singing some Whitney Houston using a hairbrush for a microphone at that age.
They bring her from Norway, interview her in English in front of a live studio audience (and millions more on TV), and she calmly kills this song with a perfect, jazzy interpretation that few professional singers could match (listen for back-phrasing, trailing vibrato, rasp, vocal fry and breath control). At 8 years of age! My favorite line is: "I started very young" (like she's now a mid-career star - at 8!). Incredible.
Angelina has amazing flexibility as can be witnessed by the following two songs: Shield (she wrote as a 12-year old. Performed on Scandinavian talk show Skavlan. In the interview before Angelina sung, she said that when she sings she goes into an endless other world that is full of happiness. Angelina said the song's sound was inspired by the Bond films. Her favorite Bond films are Diamonds Are Forever and Goldfinger: th-cam.com/video/lQtUbVKb0vs/w-d-xo.html To show the incredible cross genre abilities Angelina has, when 13-years old she collaborated with the Norwegian EDM (Electronic Dance Music) duo TRXD, and recorded the vocals for the song Above The Water. It has only been released officially as an audio track in 2020. However, an amazing, unofficial video was created that added some footage of shuffle dancers: th-cam.com/video/y6SilwnR2Zc/w-d-xo.html
Happy you did this one. Its always been one of my favorite performances. I think you can really hear her style developing around this age. So very cool to witness someone who will, without a doubt, become a legend. She does Gloomy Sunday on her Norways Got Talent performance. At 7. She is a gift to the world. Stay safe my friend...keep up the great work.
@@vorlon1 No...lol. But i had listened to U2 about a half hour before. I typed it and didn't even realize it. Had a great laugh tho. I love her version of I'd rather go blind ..and hey...at least i Didnt say I'd rather go deaf 😜😆

There are two or three more before I Who Have Nothing in the school studio. Hurt. Rolling in the Deep. And one I can’t remember. It’s remarkable to see her improvement in The I Who Have Nothing recording. The earlier recordings show a very enthusiastic young girl singing for the pure joy of singing. Not worrying so much about style. She was working on style when she did that last one.
My 2 favorite "baby" Angelina performances, both when she was 8, are the finals on AGT where she killed Summertime & a few months later where she channeled Dinah Washington's What A Difference A Day Make at an outdoor concert. Both are mind blowing. As far as my daily playlist goes, I prefer her older performances. The youngest performance on that is 9 with I Put A Spell On You & the rest are all 10 or older. But I really enjoy watching her very young performances on reaction videos because they are so amazing for her age.
I have never seen a more documented singer/ever! I know Mery Zamani (Angelina's grandmother) is a painter, but she will be remembered in these precious documentations , an original art form in itself. And we have probably only seen a portion of what has been made. One thing l always noticed viewing these videos, although Angelina is introverted, she is not at all shy, insecure, proud or self conscious. I mean, seriously, to show herself in a constant developmental format is so courageous. Other singers l have viewed haven't shown that level of security. MrLboyd, l would strongly suggest going back to 2012. Six year old Angelina, in studio, singing " I who have nothing", Tom Jones cover..This is probably the real beginning, after her experience with the orphan girl she gave her shoes to!
I think you have given me more joy in watching your reactions to ANGELINA because of your great knowledge and love for all the GREAT LEDGERS of yesterday’s sou; and jazz. I have missed them I am blues, jazz, soul.. I think AJ is very lucky you have found her... start at NGT . 😊🙏🏻🇨🇦😘
a song that i dont ever see anyone recommending for review is a song she did when she was 6. its called "I Who Have Nothing". watch the video and notice, Angelina has an ink pen in her hand. she arranged the music. when they are playing the music, you will see her give a thumbs up to the musicians. and also a song called Hurt, also at 6 years old.
At seven in interview she was ask about the meaning behind “Gloomy Sunday “. (Paraphrasing ) Her reply was I knew exactly what it was about as I know English very well. I would start with her rendition of “I Who Have Nothing “ at six. Previously she had recorded Rolling In The Deep, Hurt, Sky Fall. There is video of her singing at four or so with a toy plastic guitar singing Rolling In The Deep. She was singing earlier around the house. There is also the clip of her singing at eighteen months of age.
This was the second video I saw of her after Gloomy Sunday, that was a couple of years ago and I was hooked. I echo what another subscriber suggested, do the NGT performance of Bang Bang. She had just turned 8.
Great thanks! In addition to her amazing voice "at this age", I'm struck by her 'presence'. Saying "The View" at the beginning shows how she's grounded in the present moment, astonishing! Not even being aware of the bundle of toys, but completely focused on giving Rosie a hug and being grateful for everything ... what a humanitarian.
Mr. Boyd, I enjoy watching your reaction to Angelina. It has been a month since I first heard Miss Jordan. And every day I must listen to her. Keep playing her. She is developing into a beautiful young lady...singing many many songs sung by some of the greats since 1930 & forward. I believe she has well over 100 songs on TH-cam. Plus she recently signed with Republic Records. I think. Enjoy. Angelina & her family moved to LA. I hope she records an album soon. May God richly bless you.
One reactor mentioned how gracefully AJ responded when she realized she misunderstood Rosie. I think AJ's genuine sweetness and humility is one of the keys to her greatness.
Angelinas humbleness is something I have never seen before. Just the way she receives the gifts after singing, takes your breath away. She hugs Rosie first, then giving her warmest thank you when she realize the gifts are for her. What a sweet young girl she is. I am so proud of her.
Love her interpretation of this classic so very much , no other 8 year old could possibly have her style and confidence with perhaps the exception of Michael Jackson .Pure Class with both of them.
There are two other great songs by her at this age, I'll Be There &, At Last. One of my favs is when she was ten, it's I Will Survive, it's only audio but an amazing rendition
You guys should listen to "Song for A" sung by Angelina. It's SO beautiful. I originally think it's a poem? It definitely shows off how talented she is.
Yes, of course, Angelina is "singing" the song, and beautifully. But, it is "much more" than her executing the singing part that led the audience and all of us to applaud enthusistically at the end of the performance, would you agree with me? Now, where we could differ is on the exact meaning of that much more. For me, it has to do with her spirit that carries almost all of her songs. There lies the secret of the mind-blowing effect that she produces on people, of the awe inspiring miracle of welcoming her in our lives, of experiencing the mystery of her precious gift to the world.
Even at that age, she feels every note and conveys them to the listener. She sounds like a grown woman with 40 years of experience. Artists that have been performing for 30+ years only wish they could sing like that. Every time I think she can't possibly get any better, she proves me wrong.
Angelina's early performances are so endearing, clearly talented, striving to get her body to produce the sound that she knew was needed. The early studio recordings at the school of culture and music are there as a baseline for us to see where her style grew from. The one I would choose is when she was 6/7 - her grandma says 6, but she gets it wrong sometimes... In an interview (8 years) she listed her influences as Shirley Bassey, Billie Holiday , Louis Armstrong. This song was first sung by Shirley Bassey, later made famous by Tom Jones (both singers from Wales (in the UK)). A power ballad by such a young girl? You bet! "I who have nothing" th-cam.com/video/RjQZKBpVaes/w-d-xo.html The next one I would choose, partly because it is her first performance outside with a very large audience - "What a difference a day make" - Dinah Washington - here she shows us that she is not just a singer, but a professional performer! th-cam.com/video/RjQZKBpVaes/w-d-xo.html In the introduction she explains that she was about to travel to the USA (for the View show in New York). The level of maturity is unbelievable!
Let's listen to "My Funny Valentine," by the wonderful Angelina Jordan, made popular and also beautifully done by Frank Sinatra many years ago...thanks
The acapella version of Billie Holidays " I'm A Fool To Want You" on Norway's Got Talent explains the phenomenon Angelina Jordan Astar in total. The other performances there are breathtaking too, "Gloomy Sunday" was her introduction, where she got a star, but for me "I'm A Fool..." is the tip on everything.....
My recommendation for her earlier stuff isn't so much a skill-level demonstration but (1) a foundation demonstration and (2) to broaden OUR understanding of HER style selections. The 1935 Gerswhin. A late '30s Billie Holiday performance. BANG BANG from the '60s. Then a '50s Hawkins song that she probably first heard versions from decades later. I don't know if I can presume she 'wants to do these' (I DO THINK THAT) but at least we know she decides to do them. For me, it's not a Skill Set Demonstration. It's a blow-out-the-walls for stylistic prisons.
I agree with all the comments below & Angelina is simply magnificent. On a tangent, I refer to my post of over 1 month ago ( a very long post ) regarding my request for you to react to another young talent by the name of Amira Willighagen. Please advise whether you have an interest in reacting, as I won’t bother you further should you have no intention. Cheers, Graeme. ps. I rarely suggest artists to Reactors, but this young lady is so very, very special.
You’re one of the few who gives credit to the fact that she’s so because she WORKS AT IT all she was born with was the love of music and great parents, I believe the rest is due to her work ethic. Your thoughts?
Good morning people! She has got incredible singing, uniqueness, personality. Btw, here you have a suggestion, she is a young Kazakh singer, Daneliya Tuleshova, and she will blow your mind: th-cam.com/video/6uhhdpFgM7Y/w-d-xo.html
Hi MrLboyd, I can understand that you hesitate to listen to her very early songs after have listened her recend ones... but you may be sure that it is worth to react to even her first full song video from her first "visit" in a studio booth. So let me cite the relevant part of my comment to your first reaction video to Angelina Jordan: "... Her first "visit" to a recording studio at 6yo: "I who have nothing": th-cam.com/video/RjQZKBpVaes/w-d-xo.html ..." You will be amazed as always listening to Angelina :-D Have fun and stay well and healthy Andreas
Some other stand-out early performances by her (besides her entire run on NGT, only some of which you've posted reactions to): * "Wow! Angelina Jordan (8): "What a Difference a Day Make" " [v=ZSfgCIGd7k4] on TV 2's official YT channel * "Hagekonsert på Aksept 2015: Angelina Jordan: My funny Valentine" [v=EFu4_cpY858] on the channel for Aksept Senter for alle berørt av hiv [Acceptance Center for all affected by HIV] * "Angelina Jordan rehearsal singing and playing Writing On The Wall By Sam Smith December/2015" [v=IyGJyVEkQ3Q] on the Angelina Jordan Fanclub Mosarz channel And a special two-fer, singing "Unchained Melody" and being interviewed on a Norwegian TV talk show: * "Angelina Jordan synger hos Lindmo" [v=wPfMzMeBLbo] on NRK's official channel *" Angelina Jordan interviewed by Anne Lindmo, NRK TV "Lindmo" 14/11/2015 (eng sub)" [v=-cCLDY0CSZ8] on Yozhik v Tumane's channel (turn on English captions) I must say, the last one, where she is only talking, blew my mind almost as much as anything I've heard her sing. [grin] (The book she's talking about is available through her official website, BTW.) For other great stuff you haven't reacted to yet, look for the playlist "Angelina Jordan Live, Through the Years (Chronological)" on Rusty Shackleford's channel.
As you have already reacted to her "Bang Bang" at Norway's Got Talent when she was 7, and "I Put A Spell On You" at the age of 9, you are left with her two other performances on Norway's Got Talent, namely "Gloomy Sunday" : th-cam.com/video/rI6ZhRk86Hs/w-d-xo.html and her acapella version of "I'm A Fool To Want You" : th-cam.com/video/LXknLZDoRVQ/w-d-xo.html THEN you have Angelina's first ever studio recording at the age of 6, covering "I Who Have Nothing" : th-cam.com/video/RjQZKBpVaes/w-d-xo.html You can't go wrong with any of them, and I really do think you should sheck them out. Mad respect from Norway :-)
👩🏻🎤🎵🌎⭐️🇳🇴❤️ Two performances by Angelina at age 8 I recommend are: Summertime: th-cam.com/video/443pBSpx5B4/w-d-xo.html What A Difference A Day Makes: th-cam.com/video/ZSfgCIGd7k4/w-d-xo.html
Its always been the height of uncanny how at all times when she is not behind that microphone she appears and acts just like a girl of whatever age she has been. She's just a cute little 8yr old girl, or 9yr old, or 12yr old, or whatever, a little shy, a little awkward, not even wholly fluent in English at this point, and yet just as soon as she steps behind a mic, that's instantly gone and its replaced by a completely confident stage presence that has delivered rock solid live performances from a time when she was losing her baby teeth. The complete opposite of stage fright.
I'm just glad i lived long enough to hear this young lady.
I suggest "SummerTime" and "I'm a fool to want you" from Norway's Got Talent, and "I feel good" her concert version at age 10.
No one can be taught to sing like that. She is born to sing.
There is no explanation for this except that Angelina is a modern-day Mozart
That voice is no longer with us, a fleeting existence in her childhood, and we have the recording to treasure, and the artist to carry on to grown up greatness.
She is incredible and I love her early jazz.
Just think how young she is and how well she is speaking English!
When she sings she’s in a different state. When she is done she becomes a kid again!!
Please react to Angelina singing "What a difference a day makes" when she was 8 years old.
Yes!!
One of my all time favorites of hers!!! Not to be missed !
( and “ Summertime “- age 8)
8 years old and already a seasoned pro. It's beyond remarkable. It's crazy. And, it's beautiful.
It’s not whether she’s a better singer now. Clearly, she is. But her early recordings stand completely on their own as just remarkable performances where we first see the same talents we still see today. Absolutely agree
Angelina Jordan is to Music like Akieane Kramarik is to Art . Both picked by God to bless us with beauty
iI have to congrats the View for exposing this beautiful girl's voice too us :)))
Soon after she won NGT , a couple months later at the Summer Festival at the border she sang Dinah Washington ' What a Difference a Day Makes '.. So ,so , good. Actually , I'd say sublime. And the bow at the end to the crowd, so endearing 😍😍
perfect pitch, and unfailingly rhythmical

Good morning people! She has got incredible singing, uniqueness, personality. Btw, here you have a suggestion, she is a young Kazakh singer, Daneliya Tuleshova, and she will blow your mind: th-cam.com/video/6uhhdpFgM7Y/w-d-xo.html
Reminds ne so much if Amy Winehouse
Tiger Woods is the only other person that comes to my mind.
she is a better pop singer now, but she was a better jazz singer at 8

Hi MrLboyd,
I can understand that you hesitate to listen to her very early songs after have listened her recend ones... but you may be sure that it is worth to react to even her first full song video from her first "visit" in a studio booth. So let me cite the relevant part of my comment to your first reaction video to Angelina Jordan: "... Her first "visit" to a recording studio at 6yo:
"I who have nothing": th-cam.com/video/RjQZKBpVaes/w-d-xo.html ..."
You will be amazed as always listening to Angelina :-D
Have fun and stay well and healthy
Andreas
Thanks a billion :-D
You could hear a pin drop
Some other stand-out early performances by her (besides her entire run on NGT, only some of which you've posted reactions to):
* "Wow! Angelina Jordan (8): "What a Difference a Day Make" " [v=ZSfgCIGd7k4] on TV 2's official YT channel
* "Hagekonsert på Aksept 2015: Angelina Jordan: My funny Valentine" [v=EFu4_cpY858] on the channel for Aksept Senter for alle berørt av hiv [Acceptance Center for all affected by HIV]
* "Angelina Jordan rehearsal singing and playing Writing On The Wall By Sam Smith December/2015" [v=IyGJyVEkQ3Q] on the Angelina Jordan Fanclub Mosarz channel
And a special two-fer, singing "Unchained Melody" and being interviewed on a Norwegian TV talk show:
* "Angelina Jordan synger hos Lindmo" [v=wPfMzMeBLbo] on NRK's official channel
*" Angelina Jordan interviewed by Anne Lindmo, NRK TV "Lindmo" 14/11/2015 (eng sub)" [v=-cCLDY0CSZ8] on Yozhik v Tumane's channel (turn on English captions)
I must say, the last one, where she is only talking, blew my mind almost as much as anything I've heard her sing. [grin] (The book she's talking about is available through her official website, BTW.)
For other great stuff you haven't reacted to yet, look for the playlist "Angelina Jordan Live, Through the Years (Chronological)" on Rusty Shackleford's channel.
You’re missing out man
Dude, in the recording booth at 6 years old doing Tom Jones I have nothing
As you have already reacted to her "Bang Bang" at Norway's Got Talent when she was 7, and "I Put A Spell On You" at the age of 9, you are left with her two other performances on Norway's Got Talent, namely "Gloomy Sunday" : th-cam.com/video/rI6ZhRk86Hs/w-d-xo.html and her acapella version of "I'm A Fool To Want You" : th-cam.com/video/LXknLZDoRVQ/w-d-xo.html THEN you have Angelina's first ever studio recording at the age of 6, covering "I Who Have Nothing" : th-cam.com/video/RjQZKBpVaes/w-d-xo.html
You can't go wrong with any of them, and I really do think you should sheck them out.
Mad respect from Norway :-)
👩🏻🎤🎵🌎⭐️🇳🇴❤️ Two performances by Angelina at age 8 I recommend are:
Summertime: th-cam.com/video/443pBSpx5B4/w-d-xo.html
What A Difference A Day Makes: th-cam.com/video/ZSfgCIGd7k4/w-d-xo.html
Its always been the height of uncanny how at all times when she is not behind that microphone she appears and acts just like a girl of whatever age she has been. She's just a cute little 8yr old girl, or 9yr old, or 12yr old, or whatever, a little shy, a little awkward, not even wholly fluent in English at this point, and yet just as soon as she steps behind a mic, that's instantly gone and its replaced by a completely confident stage presence that has delivered rock solid live performances from a time when she was losing her baby teeth. The complete opposite of stage fright.
