Pure nostalgia. Had an 01/W FD about 30 years ago. Truly amazed that once we used to edit and create work on these. A bit like papering the walls through a letterbox by today's standards.
Hold down the shift key while simultaneously depressing middle C, then enter the hex code BA DA DA DA using the keys just above middle C. Then select the desired option on the display by depressing the foot pedal, the shift key and the corresponding key on the keyboard. It's that easy!
Wow! I remember this guy. I can't remember if this is the exact tape I received with my keyboard but it's very similar. He also did a video for Mark of the Unicorn's Freestyle sequencing software.
I bought his dvd years ago. Unfortunately the end was lost due to a defective disk My favourite Korg synth.. having owned trinity triton triton ex and m3 expanded. Great tutorial... just lots of button pushing in this era. Bullet proof yamaha key bed too.
Lance, thank you for this! If you are answering questions, I accidently changed a setting(I think on the global screen but not sure) & now a lot of my sounds are distorted. Can you please help? Thanks!
Hey all you Korg owners I have this workstation but if I play it too hard, my sound cuts out. I thought it might be the power cord, but that's right. The LCD display does not flicker or cut off. Have put this comment out to techs but received no reply yet. Have taken my bottom cover off, but all connections seem tight. Any ideas? My main board in my gig setup. Thanks!

Hey i'm a pianist. A student of mine bought this same keyboard. I don't now anything about synths. Can you help me, please, to know how to configure it to select piano sound and that it has velicity or sensitive keys activated?
Can't help here, sadly. I own X3 only which don't need external memory or floppy to store sequences. (though I've restored the floppy drive for nice nostalgic sounds when loading)
@@unclesam6985 Figured that a bit ago, problem is my floppy drive is dead, so I cannot use the sequencer. Guess it saves me the trouble of trying to work entirely inside the 01/w and sticking with the DAW route instead lol.
You have to upload pre-load data via floppy or MIDI. There are plenty of this pre-load sysex'es around the Internet. I guess even official Korg website provides it among with the docs.
Thank you for the offer, but I guess I don't deserve it. I'd be happy with mainboard or other pcbs, as I am going to experiment with the hardware, not playing on it. 01/W is a great synth, though. I own X3, and it is stripped version of 01/W: the display and the keybed are worse, and that waveshaping FX is missing.
I have no idea why I’m watching a video about a keyboard I don’t own at 2am. Must be the stache
LOL
Because gems like these need to be preserved for 2am viewings.
😂😂
i just stumbled upon this at 2 am, god dammit
I surpass you, at 8:13 AM without having gone to sleep yet

Anyway, I am impressed with Korg's ability to create an interface, which was convenient (for the time). That's indeed an engineering masterpiece!
Korg 01W rules! Very high quality workstation! Nice haircut! :D
I remember the excitement the day I bought my 01/w ! This video brings back those memories! This still is a great keyboard!
Thank you Mr. American Borat
I bought this years ago in dvd format. Lance was so good in his tutorial. Great product specialist!
Hello may i humbly ask for a help.
I just got one. Looking forward to fighting my way through menus to create new sounds
I still keep the 01R/W module in my big Korg collection :-))
Good old days. Feel in love with Korg Synths back then. BTW: That mustache is a floating device. Big time.
Fantastic! I love this synthesizer... Korg 01/W is a legend!!! 😍🤩😍🤩😍
O cara fala claramente "ó"1/w .. no Brasil, falamos errado a vida toda 😅
Had the O1/Wfd which helped me produce my first album. Still have this on VHS tape as well, definitely brings back good memories!
The part about being able to switch the polarity on the sustain pedal is life saver. 33 years later and this guy is still killing it

this has been fab , thanks for putting this up
That stache and mullet that you love is going to be back in style
I bought my 01/Wfd in 2019 because I like one sound: Wonderland. :D Besides that, I noticed it has several sounds used by Enigma in 1990s.
Honestly I prefer the Korg 01/W over the Yamaha Tyros 5, Genos and even the Korg PA-5X.
Having all that hair... I would hide those Volvan ears.... Damn G!
He is a legend now!
Sir nice study
if i was a blue hedgehog, i would want the flute at 10:46 to play if i was panicking surrounded by palmtrees in the past.
Tony Levin's much hairier keyboard-playing brother.
...it would be better to watch it in better quality🤔
Immortal instrument🤔
What a hair style! lol
Awesome video! Thanks
I’m a 65-year old musician. And I don’t know how I dodged the bullet of this hair style.
4:12 interesting, no backlight here either. Mine also is dark, need a lamp to see the LCD.

Lol - seriously, it’s too much of a coincidence!!
I wonder if this guy still works for Korg

Hello. I wanted to ask if you know where you can find the second cassette?
Do you mean X3 version? I've put link to X3 version in the description. As far as I know, there were no 2nd part for o1/W. I could be wrong.

Got a 01/w fd a month ago, I still cannot for the life of me figure out how to save sequencer progress. Is a floppy disk needed?
Can't help here, sadly. I own X3 only which don't need external memory or floppy to store sequences. (though I've restored the floppy drive for nice nostalgic sounds when loading)
Yes, you need a floppy disk to save your stuff on, otherwise it all wiped out as soon as you turn it off
