Great Video Pete, great father-son time. A few years back I bought my daughter a kayak for Christmas. She sat in that thing all day long in the living room. We even had to bring her food to the kayak! Good memories. Inquiring minds want to know: Can Little Man out kayak The River King?
for sure Thomas!! He is better than I am at certain skills, and that time is soon coming, but I think I still have the edge...BUT that is only because he likes kayaking, and I love kayaking. If he dove full on into it he would have me for sure.
Great Video as always..... Can someone help this old man understand something... what does it take to claim to be the first to run a river.. maybe an person ran the river in the 60s when we didn't have cameras. Maybe an Native American ran it in a dugout.. not looking for a fuss just trying to understand
It doesnt take anything to claim it. But some research goes into finding out if there has been a first descent on a river. We all know that the wider, slower rivers were navigated throughout history. However, until the advent of modern creekers, running some of the whitewater out there was not a survivable proposition. Therefore, we are reasonably sure someone is the first if there is no documentation on a particular river over the past 40 years or so...Whitewater kayaking is a small community and it isnt too hard to find out such things...
Off to college! Wow they grow up fast. Great video and thanks for sharing.
He is a Junior this year, but we are already doing the things...Next year will go by too fast I am afraid!

Ran it pretty low a few weeks ago but didn’t notice the little sieve on mank above 10ft. Potentially nasty spot
