    My biggest frustration with the whole “modernizing” Snow White is that there IS room to do that. The original Snow White is ultimately about staying positive and kind through years of abuse. And there IS room to expand on that in a more meaningful way that would be super interesting to watch. But NOOO, it has to be about girlbossing

      That would be a wonderful way to modernize Snow White by exploring more of her family situation with her stepmother and how she persevered through that. It also wouldn’t demonize any characters that weren’t already evil in the original. No characters would even have to change; all they need to do is show more of their relationship.

    The only thing you said that I would add to is that you mention making new stories with diverse characters instead of race swapping, I would argue that a better answer to so many European folklore would be to include more folklore and myths and folklore from historically diverse parts of the world. There are incredible stories from the Caribbean, South America, Africa, Australia and Asia. Middle eastern folklore is ancient and fascinating. Making Ariel black feels like giving black people our leftovers when they could have still cast Hallie Bailey in an incredible piece of folklore from a historically black area. It is very sad that many of these stories are being lost to time and I would love to see more of them to help preserve the cultures they come from.

      @@Just_JudahThere is a WEALTH of mythology and folklore that could be adapted from all over the world, but Disney won't touch it because it doesn't have a pre-existing (domestic) audience. To these corporations, taking a gamble on something that isn't widely known, that doesn't have an audience already in place, is too much of a risk.
      Never mind that people are STARVING for original content.
      Never mind that mythology and folklore outside of Europe would be interesting to people of European decent because IT'S NEW and interesting.
      Never mind that this would be an effective way to achieve "representation" while also giving people who aren't of European decent something that is connected to their heritage.
      Never mind that all those things would likely draw in a massive audience.
      No, no, the well-paid consultants all say that it will be too difficult to market something that isn't already part of pop culture, so Big Entertainment won't take the chance, despite the potential for making big bucks if they make a hit.

    I watched another video talking about Snow White, and I personally agree with their thought on what "the fairest of them all" really applied to story-wise. The basic idea was that the queen was asking the question out of vanity, however the mirror always said it was Snow White, not only because she outwardly pretty, but because she was also beautiful inside as well, because she was kind and caring, that was what made her fairest, while the queen wasn't due to her being inwardly ugly, jealous and cruel. it's a nicer way to think about it instead of it being about her skin tone.

    • @Just_Judah

    The reason Snow White is named as such is that she is the fulfilled desire of a wish propitiated by blood magic (Disney left this out in his 1937 animated film). This type of wish is a standard European fairy tale trope, where blood splatters against a white surface, someone witnesses this and finds it beautiful, and it prompts them to wish for either a child or a wife that is white as ( e.g. snow, marble, cheese) and as red as blood. If there is something black nearby, that can be incorporated in the wish, but that is not always the case. In the original fairy tale it is snowing, a queen is doing embroidery and she pricks her finger. Three drops of blood fall on the snow, she finds this pretty and wishes for a child that is white as snow, red as blood, and black as the ebony window frame. She gets her wish and Snow White is born. Originally this queen is the evil queen, but by 1819 the Brothers Grimm changed the tale so that Snow White's mother dies.
    The European beauty standard of fair skin goes back to at least the middle ages, and is classist as opposed to racist in origin. High born women did not have to work in the fields so that they could keep their fair complexions, as opposed to women who had to work outside. When they liked white skin, they really meant it because white lead was sometimes used as a cosmetic.

      @Just_Judah  ปีที่แล้ว +16

      This whole wish aspect that was left out actually sounds fire! I wish I could see that in a film. Thanks for the input!

      @@Just_JudahThat blood magic wish is depicted in the movie Snow White and the Huntsman, the opening scene shows the Queen (future mother of Snow White) walking through her snowy garden landscape and sees a red rose. When she touches it, she pricks her finger and 3 drops of blood fall on the ground. She then wished for a child born as white as snow, lips as red as blood, hair as black as a raven’s and as strong as the rose surviving in winter. I liked this movie and Kristen Stewart’s performance as Snow White because she was strong but also kind considerate and vulnerable. Her mourning the loss of one of the dwarfs who dies was genuine and sincere. She does put on knight’s armor and physically fights and defeats the evil Queen in the end but she remains feminine, not girl bossy at all. I thought the movie was pretty good and Chris Hemsworth was good as the Huntsman who helps Snow White through her trials. The movie doesn’t follow the original 1930s Snow White film but the story as it was rewritten still respected Snow White’s original character feminine qualities while still showing her inner strength getting through her life’s difficulties and winning the battle against the evil Queen.

    Ok I probably shouldn't say the things I'm about tto say, but I'm opinionated sometimes sooo
    1The whole whiteness of Snow White's skin is not about racism. It's a historical thing. Snow White was created at a time when being a lady meant staying out of the sun. If you had tanned skin, it was because you were outside working the land, doing manual labour. If your skin was white it was because you were rich enough that you didn't have to do that. So having white or pale skin was something to be proud of. I think this was the case for other cultures too, not just german (where the original story was set) or western. I think having pale skin is craved by many asian cultures too such as Korea or Japan.
    2. What I love about the original show white, and what I wish we could promote is that she was a kind and gentle person. She stayed strong, even through the hardship in her life. She didn't need to be physically strong, because there was nobody that she envisioned fighting. Even the huntsman didn't attack her, not because he couldn't fight her, but because she was a kind person. Perhaps being a kind person is better than being strong? I guess I would just love if modern films taught us to be kind, mentally strong and tolerant and inclusive of others and how to be optimistic during hard times. (not toxicly positive, just how to be grateful for what you have)
    Ok I hope I didn't offend anyone.
    This was a great video. Thanks.

      Okay seriously, thank you for both 1. and 2. I love bringing any sort of discussion and critical thinking to these sorts of topics because it doesn't happen often. I actually totally understand the subtle nuances of those cultural significances when it came to the manual labor vs having enough wealth to not get more tan thing. It's just that when applied to a western narrative, considering how much influence the west can have in the world at times, it CAN come off kinda racial. And I think some people, NOT ALL, do view it that way. And it can be kinda harmful when applied in that fashion.
      As for 2. Kindness is so underrated just in general. Especially in the modern day. It absolutely should be seen as a type of strength considering how easy it is to be negative and spiteful to others. Thank you for watching either way, truly appreciate it!

      I think people thinking of Snow White in a „racial manner“ are mostly Americans because every stupid tiny little thing there is about race.
      Isn’t it obvious that in a country where you even have to fill out your „race“ on everyday forms like bank account applications, that people WILL MAKE EVERYTHING ABOUT RACE???
      By the way in Germany we can’t even translate that word properly because the concept that is behind that us not a thing here. Sure we also have migration issues but if you would hear someone asking what „race“ you are we probably would stare at you because it simply doesn’t matter in everyday life. At most you will have to give nationality on very official applications.
      „Race“ translates to „Rasse“ which we only use for animal breeds. The last time Germans used the word „Rasse“ when referring to humans was in the third Reich and we now know that such a thing as a „race“ does not exist.
      Let that sink in what that implies for the current state of America.

    I usually only have a race swap problem when the interviews by the cast and creators make it clear it wasn’t an artistic decision but a political one. Like most of the recent race swaps. She's not only kicking ass, being a sheriff, fighting monsters and demons but is also taking care of 3 troubled teenage girls after loosing her husband and son in a horrible way.

    Fantastic video! I’m a writer and an artist and I don’t want to boil someone’s character down to their gender. Because, one, it’s an extremely restrictive plot device that takes away from someone character by obnoxiously inserting politics that are not need, and two, it actually a very harmful message to spread to your audience, especially if you’re a company like Disney that panders mostly to younger children. If a show has good writing and great characterization, then people will find a way to like it. It’s not that I have a problem with woke writing. I have a problem with bad writing.

    This was an amazing video, I'm really glad the algorithm showed it to me! Your points were really well put!
    Regarding the Snow White casting, I believe any woman could play her regardless of their skin color. I've seen amazing cosplays of the character portrayed by so many different persons and it works! I always thought they could justify the ''Snow White'' part from the brightness of her smile instead of her skin color. It's really just too bad that the actress they casted doesn't seem to like either the character or the movie/fairytale
    I'm a woman and also a comic artist who loves writing strong female characters, but I am sad that we're getting ''girl boss characters who doesn't need any man'' instead of strong women who have emotions
    Sailor Moon (especially in the manga) is a strong and powerful magical girl who often rescues her man, but he also helps her fight. Her love for him makes her stronger, not weaker. She often wins her fights with empathy and kindness, not just power. In Sailor Moon, women are allowed to like girly things, it's seen as a part of their identities. I wish more media would portray women that way instead
    I don't think that having a discussion about gender inequalities is bad in media, but it is terribly handled right now. Portraying all men as either idiots or evil is not the way to go. You want a vile man as a villain? Then, why not have a good man as one of the main character to show a good example?
    Overall I'm just tired of the live action remakes though and I wish we would stick to the animated movies
    Anyway, thank you for your video. I subbed right away!

      Okay seriously, the brightness of the smile would be an amazing way to actually work that into the naming convention. I also love seeing people cosplay whoever they want to because at the end of the day, these are fictional characters and showing your admiration for them says a lot.
      Sailor Moon is an AMAZING portrayal of so many strong female characters who hold their own as well as experience love and romance. Mars was always my personal favorite. But seriously, thank you for watching. Seriously appreciate it! Also would love to see your comics!

      Sometimes the people making these remakes and replacing popular established characters are doing this for revenge against the people whose ethnicity the main leads originated from. Mindy Kaling for example has a weird love and hate fetish for white and Indian people so she projects all her negative traits onto Velma and Fred. I don't want this to be for every future artist and writer, however it seems as though writers now are "taking back favorites" so you can't love them anymore.

      While films indeed offer an escape, they also reflect and shape societal norms. Rachel Zegler’s remarks might have stirred the pot, but it's essential to have conversations about gender roles, even in fantasy stories. Every version of a tale brings a fresh perspective, and Rachel's Snow White seems to challenge traditional portrayals, which is a step toward evolving storytelling. It's less about dismissing the original and more about adapting narratives to resonate with contemporary audiences. Plus, Rachel was phenomenal in West Side Story, which showcases her talent and her star is definitely on a meteoric rise, so let's not rush to judgment on her Snow White portrayal.

    Wonder Woman, The Bride (Beatrix Kiddo), Ellen Ripley and Sarah Connor are perfect examples of exemplary "strong female" characters. They're strong when they need to be but never lose their femininity or softer side. Being strong doesn't mean having physical strength equal to a man. Sometimes it means ingenuity and perseverance and empathy.
    And you're right. Dopey was always the cutest and most adorable.
    As to the race swapping. I know it was blatantly used in the past like having John Wayne play Genghis Khan. His worst movie imo. It wasn't right then and it isn't right today in the other direction. I would love to see original characters and stories created for other ethnicities. There have been some successes (hopefully Blue Beetle picks up more) like The Princess & The Frog, Moana, Encanto, Mulan and Lilo & Stitch as well as Spiderman. Not the live action Mulan btw. I'm dreading what they do to other Disney live remakes because, as we've seen, they totally change the characters from the originals. I love Tiana and Moana..and I'm not really a princessy type. I liked the animated movie princesses but I was more into The Aristocats, Robin Hood, 101 Dalmatians and The Sword In The Stone. In real life I was a huge Nancy Drew, Perry Mason, Wonder Woman, Charlie's Angels and Superman fan as a kid. Kind of still am. LOL. This might be a nitpic, but Princess and the frog is originally set in europe and the princess was white af.
      How ever, I also feel like it's a good example of when the skin colour is arbitary element in the story. Much like in the little mermaid, she could be of any level of melanin in the skin, since it's not important to the plot. I wish they'd eventually make a more fateful adaptation of little mermaid, since the original is brutally tragic. As I understand the origins of the story; H.C. Anderson was at the time heart broken due to his love marrying and thus blatantly rejecting him. So the story of little mermaid is a story of heartbreak, pain and death in vain.
      About Disneys Princess and the frog: I too really like Tiana, but I do think that they botched her story somewhat. The pacing was totally off and the story was a little lackluster. It had great elements but fell flat on critical moments.

    I’m just going to say it as someone who is a biracial Latina. I think casting a Latina woman as Snow White could work, so long as they have, well… hair as black as ebony, skin as white as snow, and lips as red as the red red rose. I mean look at my Abuelita. The photos of her younger self fits that description. And not all Latinos are dark skinned. Some are RUBIO (blonde) and were born in Puerto Rico. Now with the right lighting and effects, Miss Ziegler can look the part perfectly. But she really doesn’t fit the part of Snow White, because Snow White wasn’t the “fairest” because of her outward beauty. It was her heart that made her beautiful. And Miss Ziegler, so far from the interviews, seems to lack in that.

    You read my mind! If it's not broke, don't "fix it". If you change the core of the story, you don't have that story anymore. These remakes seem like, instead of giving we, the audience, a great story, these remakes are just checking boxes. You are right, none of these remakes will stand the test of time. People will always come back to the classics for a reason, that reason is that those classics are timeless. This "anything you can do, I can do better, I can do anything, better than you" mindset is not progress. If you have to prop up, you're lead, by sacrificing everybody else in the cast, to make her more prominent, then you're doing the story you're adapting a disservice. Lead female characters, like their male counterparts, need to strive, and train, and work for their successes. Modern "strong, independent women" in modern media need to rediscover feminine qualities. Love, gentleness, compassion, generosity, vulnerability can still be good things to be. Instead, it seems that being a stoic, unemotional, good at everything, know it all, is the order of the day in most female lead action films today. But vulnerability is not to mean weakness. It seems that if the writers, write these female characters without flaws, they are better somehow. The flaws are what makes these characters human.

    • @Just_Judah
      @Just_Judah  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Moana and Tiana are one of my favorite because they show how strong feminine traits are, Moana being a future chief of her island and in the end sailing off with some of her people as voyagers but she doesn't come off as someone brash and emotionless, she's honestly full of it and has so much personality. Especially with her dynamic with Maui is really fun, she's determined and funny as well.
    The same goes with Tiana as she's very hardworking and was able to change a man with his ways, the woman has goals and ambitions and is very determined to make her dream come true and also happened to fall in love in the process of the movie.
    Love and romance, the very same thing people in modern movies are trying to remove, was able to change a person, a man.
    And on an unrelated topic here but I know a bunch of media is trying to market itself by having an all women team/cast, but like Turning Red literally had an all women lead but they never advertised it that way and instead marketed the movie through it's story and themes

    It's so nice to see a young man like yourself speaking about poisonous gender politics in film. It seems like most media today looks for ways to divide us humans, rather than exploring qualities we all share. 'Other-ism' weakens us, and turns people against each other. If writing and character development can carry a project, it doesn't need to pander to identity politics.

    Yeah! To be honest, I don’t see anything wrong or out of the ordinary with a young girl like Snow White dreaming to find true love. Shoot, it’s relatable as hell. When I was a hopeless romantic teenager I know I was dreaming about that kind of thing more than anything else! If anything, it’s insulting that they see that very ordinary behavior as not compatible with being a strong woman. Being someone who likes romance does not take away from their other important qualities! And yeah, taking the romance out of a fairytale with extremely romantic undertones changes the entire thing…

Literally snow white escaped death from her abusive step mother, convinced a bunch of strangers to here as a house keeper to shelter herself from her crazy stepmom, used her skills and personality to build a friendship with the dwarfs, and even though her life was horrible she still stayed positive, have and always thought the better of people and trusted an old lady which is stupid but she's 14 so I don't blame her. If that not a better more fleshed out character that most girl boss female character then I don't know. Florin is a weird man, he approaches a young girl while her back way faces and tired to serenade her and was suprised when she got scared then in the end get kissed her when she was in a coma but he isn't a stoker just a creep

She convinces the dwarves to listen to her by being kind, appretiating them, cleaning up their burrow and offering to bake them treats. the people saying she was just a damsel in distress didnt watch the film. their mind are so poisoned with femenist propaganda that they cannot identify kindness and homemakeing as positive traits.

The movie was a reflection of the desire for a simpler life, when people didn't have to stress about markets crashing and taxes to pay. It was a rescue of the romantic medieval writing. Understanding this, I can completely see why it changed so much the general publics perception about animation, they realized that there was a space for them to materialized their fantasies in a time people couldn't dream.
    Like you said, we need to understand the context that a piece of art was produced, so we can better understand how it affects us today and learn from it. When the main actress says that "The prince was a stalker" and "We cant aspire for a man to save us anymore" she is putting her "modern" view of society to a piece of art, and in that, devaluing the argument she was trying to make in of itself.

Mulan herself was already such a strong, independent character who had such a creative way of thinking. And that's why she was able to do what she did, but they just completely got rid of that. They took out the funny aspects, They took out the heart warming aspects and the complete impact of the entire movie and I'm tired of it. Shang's tough love on Mulan as a soldier made her realize how she needed to improve and caused for her to actually work through to new levels of strength and mental fortitude. So much so that Shang began to respect "Ping". It's quite amazing honestly because he truly was just treating her as an equal, like he would with any of the other soldiers (because he's unaware of the disguise), and because of that she actually pulls through and becomes who she needs to. Everything that Mulan did, going to war and you know deciding to be a soldier and everything like that never had anything to do with the fact that she was a woman and people thought she was weak because of that. Like Mulan didn't decide to go to war because oh she wanted to challenge ideas and what people thought of women no, she went to war because she wanted to protect the people she cared about she only did it because she wanted to do something selfless and she knew it will take some sacrifices and very hard work. It never had anything to do with the fact she was a woman, yes her being a woman and being objectified and looked down upon was something she went through but it was never her reasoning for doing the stuff she did. This also happened for the movie Brave with Merida, Merida didn't reject the idea of marriage because she's an independent woman yada yada she did it because she wanted to find love in her own time and wanted the freedom to choose. the message was delivered so much better than a lot of these remakes.. also it kind of bugs me that a lot of these remakes think that as women we can't have love and a career / power let's take Princess Tiana into account like Tiana was a hard-working character throughout the entire movie and her meeting Naveen did not change that. At the end of the movie she was still a hard worker that worked for every penny she spent on her restaurant she got her man and she got her dream

    The race swap argument doesn't HAVE to be nuanced, that's the problem.
    It has nothing to do with race, it's just people getting accurate portrayals of their characters and the people who argue for it are disingenuous as all get-out.
    Like, Ariel for example; Disney is not making a new interpretation of the character, this isn't Guillermo Del Toro making his own unique artistic interpretation of Pinnochio.
    No, this is Disney remaking THEIR VERSION OF LITTLE MERMAID. They WANT you to have the original in mind and are using the same songs, general scenes and characters. That's the problem; they raceswapped a character that did not need to be raceswapped and they've done this so many times at this point that it can't be ignored.
    And I won't even entertain the notion that it's not woke, Disney THEMSELVES said it was an agenda they were pushing and wanted diversity and inclusion out into all of their content regardless of the audience. This is 100% their own fault, especially considering they are USING these black actresses as a shield to deflect criticism; letting them soak up the backlash while they sit back and decry anyone who doesn't like the change as a "racist". It's woke. There isn't any arguing that, Disney are just being scumbags about it.
    That all out of the way, the bigger issue is really just the writing and directorial quality which is very lacking. While character presentation/accuracy matters, the real reason this is setting people off is because it immediately registers as a red flag; when Disney PROMOTES THEIR MOVIES LIKE THIS, people ALREADY know what the film's problems are going to be. They already know this stupid agenda is going to once again show up to a party it wasn't supposed to be invited to. They're that one super obnoxious kid who thinks everyone loves them when their ego just grates on everyone's patience, the kid who thinks "Hey girl, I like how black your skin be" is a pickup line. It's the EXACT same energy.
    How about we just portray characters correctly; let Blade be black, let Ariel be white, let Mulan be asian. I don't want a caucasian Static Shock anymore than I want a black Batman.

    I bet there are so many great fairy tales/legends from African or Latin American countries or any other countries with people of color that could have been adapted into AWESOME cartoons and/or live action movies. When I was 6-7 I remember watching Kiriko (I forgot the rest of the title) as a child about some African legend about a boy that could run really fast (? if I rememeber correctly its very hard to find a copy of it in my country and I'd really like to watch it again!) and that was truly the first cartoon that I ever saw that included a different culture and had all black people in it. Now I know that that movie is actually french but the setting and the characters and the clothes and the scary creatures seemed to me to be all taken from an African legend. As a white european kid I was thrilled and fascinated, watching that cartoon as it was something totally different from what I was used to. The creepy characters DID scaredme and the plot DID enthrilled me. It got me curious about "what other cultures could be out there!"
    Unfortunately whenever Disney or other big corporations take a white-based european (or other white based nations)'s fairy tale and simply do a remake and turn the main character black it means the creators are just being lazy. It makes it seem like people of color is not IMPORTANT ENOUGH/not worthy the time to have their own legends/fairy tales turned into movies. Like they don't matter enough for that, so they race swap instead just to do anything they can to NOT "go through the hazzle" (and I am typing that bit VERY sarcastically!!) of making great, original storylines taken from what must be a whole ton of great original fairy tales/legends from colored people's cultures. For example; I have read about the legend of the water deity/goddess Mami Wata and instead of seeing a black Ariel taken from a danish fairy tale I would rather watch an entire cartoon/live action movie based on Mami Wata! There could have been SO MUCH they could have done with that legend!! But no! They are choosing the lazy and very racist way out ("People of color? having their OWN stories on film?? Nah! Nah! Here! have a white fairy tale but with a race swap instead!(: Don't you like that?? Don't you feel REPRESENTED NOW!?") again I am saying this as a WHITE person; People of color DESERVES to have their nation's legends and fairy tales being shown to the rest of the world! I really hope that will happen more because honestly I would feel insulted AND frustrated if I were a person of color knowing how big film corporations would just kept on race swapping 98% of the time instead of giving me more original stories based on cultures from people of color/other races than just whites!! Other cultures than white cultures deserves to have their stories/legends shown on the big screen by big film corporations!

    I remember a version of Snow White where the evil Queen tried to kill Snow White 3 times. First time with a belt she put so hard around Snow Whites waist that she passed out. But the dwarfs rescued her in time and cut the belt off of Snow White when the Queen (who was disguised as a merchant lady) leaves after she thought she killed Snow White
    Second time she tried to kill Snow White with a poisonous hair comb but Snow White got rescued by the dwarfs again who removed the poisonous hair comb from her hair. The third and final time was the poisonous apple but when the evil Queen (in disguise as an kind old lady) gave her the apple Snow white was sceptical and asked the Queen to eat from the apple. The apple was half red (poisonous side) half white (non poisonous side) and the disguised Queen cut the apple in half and gave Snow White the red poisonous side of ate the white non poisonous part herself. And after that it's like in the Disney version where the prince comes,kisses her, waking her up and takes her to his castle with him. 🏰

    There's a lot of other things going on as well. Firstly, the reason why the character is called Snow White in the story is because her skin is literally white as snow. It's a case of racial appropriation. She doesn't fit the mold of Snow White in the same way that someone like Martin Klebba wouldn't fit the mold of Paul Bunyan. And speaking of people like Martin Klebba, this brings us to the second problem with this remake, the lack of little people in the supposedly "seven dwarfs". Here is something where they could really bring in some actual diversity to the main cast and it not be cringe, while still having seven "dwarfs". I could have cast it better blindfolded starting with Tony Cox, I like the casting of Martin Klebba and although Peter Dinklage is a little person I don't like his casting for the role because he is so toxic with regards to other little people getting roles. I like Kiruna Stamell (the Australian actress who played "La Petite Princesse" in Moulin Rouge), Meredith Eaton, Sofiya Cheyenne, Deep Roy, and of course Danny Woodburn who famously played Kramer's little person friend Mickey Abbott in Seinfeld. As you can see, the cast I have selected has diversity of gender and ethnicity while sticking to the "Seven Dwarfs" definition of the characters.
    And that's the issue, there's nothing wrong with diversity as long as it stays true to the definition of the character.

    • @Just_Judah
      @Just_Judah  ปีที่แล้ว +1

  • @MrWarners14
    @MrWarners14 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    It’s not like remakes and new adaptations can’t improve upon the source material. Some do expand upon and even improve upon the original in various ways.
    My problem with a lot of Disney remakes are they either miss the point of the original or remade something that was already fine to begin with.
    If they’re gonna remake movies, they should remake their more criticised works and create an interesting story that makes us think about those stories in a new light. Pocahontas would actually make for an incredible time-period drama if it were historically accurate or even remake The Black Cauldron and adapt more faithfully from the books.
    It’s not like it’s impossible to re-adapt Snow White. We already have more faithful Grimms adaptations before and after 1937. The changes here just feel so cynical. It’s not even the fairy tale or the Disney movie anymore. Taking out the dwarfs was taking away jobs for people with dwarfism which is just not right.
    Regardless of people’s opinions on remakes and adaptations, the one thing they needed to do was flesh out and expand upon the Disney film, giving the Prince far more agency and just making the kingdom feel like a real kingdom filled with commoners.
    Instead, it feels like it’ll be a shitshow. A failure to even try to understand the Disney movie and it’s alienating everyone.

      @Just_Judah  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I really like your idea for a platonic relationship between the prince and Snow White. Like imagine the prince actually falls for Snow White, and wants to pursue a romantic relationship with Snow White. But Snow White says that she only sees him as a friend. And the prince could come to respect Snow White's decision, but still support her and care for her, because she is his friend.
    Like this would be a great way to show the positive qualities that a man (or actually any person) should have. That is respecting the decision of someone else, but still supporting them as a friend, because you still care and love them as a friend. This is a good way to paint men as being good people, instead of constantly bashing on men and saying how they are not good due to being incompetent or being evil.
