I won’t argue Tennessee has a better resume per se, but here are some external factors to consider: we are only 3 spots apart on strength of schedule with the same record, so not a lot of difference there. Tennessee went undefeated at home this season and Ohio state decidedly did not. Look at the security fiasco at the horseshoe at the Ohio state Michigan game, wouldn’t want to see that at the playoffs. And yes, you do have to consider recency of Ohio state’s awful loss to Michigan. If you want to even consider the recency argument to get South Carolina in, Tennessee had better be in over Ohio state’s.
Also, the CFP committee has set a precedent of keeping SEC teams with the same record together in the rankings in previous weeks so the precedent argument for the rankings as well should keep ups moving up to the spot directly behind Georgia.
The problem with the argument about Ohio State having two wins against playoff teams is that those teams are being propped up with no good wins. None. The only thing they can say about those tasks that they lost to Ohio State. Tennessee has a better argument because they played much better competition. Indiana has no business in this playoff and a win over them should not be considered a signature win.

Ohio State loses at HOME to a decidedly worse team than Ole Miss and they're going to drop 4-5 spots max? I wouldn't argue that Tennessee has a better resume, I would argue that padding their drop to max of 6 spots is a bit ridiculous considering the previous ranking movements.

1. Osu’s other loss is better than Tennessee’s other loss 2. They care more about marquee wins than losses and OSU has wins over 2 higher ranked teams than Tennessee’s best win. Even if you want to call IU fraudulent and give Tennessee more props for beating Bama than OSU for beating IU, osu’s win over Penn state on the road will still be weighed most heavily
