As an Oregon fan, I’ve been saying how unfair this seeding is. If you’re the number one team, you should be playing the winner of the two lowest ranked teams in the second round. This is crazy stuff. it’s better to lose the Big Ten championship to go for the national championship.
No it's not stfu. Win your games and win the natty. The bye is a huge advantage to prepare 3-4 weeks for a team that will have 1 week to. Tank the B1G game then I'll happily watch PSU win.
@@boybrushedred18He’s not wrong… the 5 seed is extremely overpowered. It’s the easiest path to the semifinals. But as a PSU fan, we’ll gladly give Oregon the 5th seed and take the 2nd seed😂 (assuming Texas wins SEC) win-win for both teams. We get the Big10 title, Oregon gets the natty.
@@boybrushedred18 how bout you stfu, you can’t even count weeks right. Nobody is getting 3-4 weeks off dude. Teams like Ohio State and Alabama get 2 bye weeks for not competing in their conference. Bama has no business even being in the playoff.
@@boybrushedred18 would you rather: 1. Face Team X and then Team Y. Be favored by 13.5 and 19.5. 2. Get a bye week and then face Team Z. Be a 2.5 underdog. The choice is obvious. Just want to say I have just started listening to you half way through the CFB season and I love the show. This is one of, if not the most, unbiased show in the country when it comes to college football. And you don’t always say things I agree with nor are you always complimentary toward the team I cheer for (Penn State). But I just appreciate the honesty. I get all shows are just someone’s opinion. But they mostly are either bias or illogical. So again, great show as usual. I love it!
Everything hinges on Jalen Milroe. If he’s right, they can beat anyone. If he’s wrong, it’s really hard for them to win…as an ND fan, I can’t see us beating Texas or Oregon at the moment.
With this cfp ranking as they have it. Are they saying a BIG12 team would not make it if it was this week basically? I assume Miami would be replaced by the winner of their championship i guess or one of those lower teams?
Thank you for taking the stand on people whining about who deserves the 11 or 12 seed! No one deserves it, just be thankful that your team was good enough to be in the conversation!
There is something fundamentally wrong with a playoff structure that would allow 9-3 Clemson in and exclude 9-3 South Carolina when South Carolina beat them in a head-to-head matchup. I also think a two loss Miami team and a SMU team that loses the conference championship should not be in the CFP. They would have no wins against a current top 25 team.
Alabama loses 3 games, 2 by double digits to unranked Vanderbilt and Oklahoma, yet Miami, who lost 2 games by a combined 9 points, one to a ranked team, and one to a team who took georgia to 8 overtimes is out, with the most powerful offense in the league and i think the best qb. Bullshit!
Alabama beat a #1 Georgia team while Miami was struggling against teams like Virginia Tech. You know Alabama would smoke Miami because Miami has no defense.
@@KornPop96 again, sec is the king of hypothetical bullcrap that means nothing. You know, this sec team will blow out that team in another league. Just like Georgia will blow out that trash Georgia Tech team. Just your unfounded opinion.
The problem with Miami is that defense couldn’t stop a paper bag from getting wet in the desert. You can put up 60 points and still get beat. This just in: Miami is last seasons USC. Here’s a fun fact Syracuse ranked #22 and the only ranked team Miami played put up more points against Miami than Syracuse scored against UConn Cal Boston College Virginia Tech Pittsburgh NC State Stanford Georgia Tech The Ohio (Bobcats) 😆 Congrats you tied with the most points allowed by Syracuse with the Holy Cross Crusaders. Now get out of here with that Miami BS.
@@timdrury9040 sure, Miami defensive play has been awful, choosing between Alabama and Miami which both a deeply flawed is like choosing which turd stinks less. I rather be in a shootout with 9-3 Syracuse the number #1 passing offense in the nation even before we played them them get held to 3 points by 6-6 Oklahoma and be bitch slapped by Vanderbilt. The argument was about pre conceived notions of greatest when the fact simply don’t support it. Duke and Louisville could easily be top 25 teams and the narrative wouldn’t be the same. Florida by far was the best defensive performance, Syracuse was the worse. The defensive coordinator playing man all game was absolutely atrocious.
Couldn't agree more. I was gonna make that exact point but u made it before I could. Spot on. OSU should have dropped more than they did. Period. Everyone else did after a loss. And the losses were talking about we're against ranked teams on the road!! Neither of those were OSU Saturday
Every year the last team in is going to have flaws and it will be questioned. Analyze Bama’s schedule if you think they should not be in. Road games at Tennessee, LSU, Oklahoma. Four conference opponents got a bye week before playing Alabama (LSU, Vandy, Georgia, Oklahoma). Probably no team in America had 4 opponents with 2 weeks to prepare for them. The winning percentage of Alabama opponents was 62%. Higher than most teams if not all in the 12 team field.
Almost every single opponent Nebraska played in their 2nd half had a bye before then. Nebraska had a bye before their first 2nd half opponent to even if out. But yeah. It happens. I thunk it's happening more because of the expanded conferences
Doug you’re going to be muted by the masses for these FACTS. They don’t want to hear FACTS. Sorry you’re about to get muted because it’s a Great comment!
You're totally right. Alabama at 11 is completely reasonable if you actually bother to go through the resumes. People on messageboads are often unreasonable and just like to moan and complain. Politics, sports, whatever...
I appreciate you wanting to evolve the show. And it evolve it in a way that's in line with your sensibilities. I think people seeing a way to deal with trolls could be really beneficial. But my own personal opinion is, "DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS".
I think most college football fans don’t want teams that are in the same conference to play for the 3rd time in a season in the first round or quarterfinals of the playoffs. If they are going to play for 3rd time they would rather it be in semifinals or national title game. Of course I could be wrong and just projecting my thoughts onto the fandom at large.
@@chrismcdonald7086 Maybe instead of just putting them in a bracket and playing out tournament they could make it so that each round the highest seed always plays the lowest seed remaining and then the 2nd highest plays the 2nd lowest and so on. That way some crappy team does not get a cake walk to the semifinals or finals.
This has been my favorite content on YT since the show began. Having said that, if this starts to go the direction of a simpleton CF show like Finebaum, I'm out. Yes because Boise has not beat anyone with a pulse. Same thing with SMU. MW (or any team of that caliber conference),ACC, Big12 if you lose the championship game you are out.
@@johnberry332 I'd say yes to that. But that thought experiment also means there aren't other SEC or Big 10 teams in the top 12. So Georgia are safe no matter what, otherwise you can't justify Tennessee being in there, much less Bama. And Penn State are safe no matter what, otherwise what are OSU and Indiana doing there? For Boise State it's an easy call, because they're they only Mountain West team in the top 12. For SMU it's a little harder, with two ACC teams there, but the 12th ranked team might as well be the 13th because the Big 12 champion will be a team outside the top 12 who has to be put in. So it's not like knocking SMU out for losing the conference title game ends up rewarding some other ACC team who didn't make the title game. The messed up thing with the ACC and the rankings is that Miami are ranked above Clemson. Clemson are being punished for losing to two really good SEC teams (Georgia and South Carolina). Miami beat Florida, and their other non-conference games were garbage. I think the committee realized that they had to put a 3-loss SEC team ahead of Miami, because otherwise if SMU beats Clemson then Miami would effectively gotten rewarded for not making the ACC title game.
I vote you weave it in when there's a discussion to be had or a point to be made regarding a disagreement but not if you're just going to fight with blatant trolls.
Crazy. My gamecocks got left out after DESTROYING both Oklahoma and Vanderbilt on the road. Two teams bama lost to. And SC straight up DESTROYED Kentucky on the road. The same team ole miss lost to.
As a Duck fan I hope so. Kind of what I’ve been thinking but don’t want to be that arrogant fan. They literally played all of the bottom dwellers of the Big10, lost to the only top tier and struggled with Illinois the only other ranked team they played. Just depends on if we get the Wisconsin Oregon or the Ohio State Oregon.
I agree in principle with 1-4 seeds not automatically being conference champions. I’d also saw they do need to re-seed each round so the top seed always plays lowest remaining seed.
Do the haters segment at the very end of the show, that way the people that aren’t interested can check out, and those that want a good laugh can stay tuned. That or record it after one of the live shows and post it pre recorded on Wednesday or Thursday. Edit’. If you pre record it get with Klatt and have him read the haters comments, then you respond. I feel like that would be college football gold.
Good ole Bama. Gotta love this sport. Miami lost by 4 points to an 8-3 Syracuse team who is now ranked 22nd and 9-3 compared to a 3 loss Alabama who lost by 21 points to an unranked 5-5 Oklahoma team. Nice.
@@IAMTHE1SONi doubt it. Miami defense couldnt hold back Pavia it would be a shootout. Miami offense wouldnt do well against that OU defense and OU would just have Jackson Arnold run all over the Miami defense
34:52 could you have imagined from last year a Big 12 team going to the SEC and having a chance at winning the championship game? And they didn’t even go undefeated in the Big 12 last year. Hmm interesting… This is how we know there’s SEC bias everywhere
They went 12-2 last year, made the playoff, won the big 12, and beat Alabama by double digits in Tuscaloosa. They were the 2nd favorites to win the SEC in the preseason. They had a soft schedule in comparison to other top SEC teams this year and lost to the best team they’ve played. It shouldn’t be that surprising.
@ I’m not surprised. But they are a former Big 12 team doing well in the SEC, which to me negates the belief that the SEC is hands down better than everyone. They have really good teams, but not all are the best teams.
I think SMU is gonna be out if they lose. This week it seems like they are finally looking at SOS a bit and Top 25 wins. SMU had the weakest schedule of all the teams in contention. Say Clemson wins, SMU has no top 25 wins (0-2). Well Georgia dominated Clemson and Bama beat Georgia. Not to mention South Carolina just beat Clemson and Bama beat them. I’m just saying it seems like a conversation the committee will have. If SMU loses I don’t think I would put them in, weak schedule and no good wins.
yeah when you really start to break down SMU's resume it doesn't look good compared to Bama's. A loss to Clemson especially if they get beat soundly is not gonna look good when Bama beat two teams that beat Clemson.
I enjoy your take on stuff but this is a dream for being a Penn State fan. I always wanted a southern team to come play in real football weather when it mattered just to see what happened
In the snow moron.... i wonder why the NFL playoffs are set in the winter? O yea cause that's when real football is played and you have preseason games in August....
I like the idea of call-ins, but not as a segment for the show. I think it would be great as a separate video and for social media content though. That said, I would be all for people emailing questions that you would address on the show instead. Kind of a happy compromise with the best of both worlds.
Lets be real. I have been watching College Football for nearly 60 years. No way that Alabama should be in. South Carolina was ranked 15 and beats Clemson at their place and only moves up 1. Alabama beats Auburn by two TDs at home and moves up 2. And Miami who loses to a 9-3 Syracuse team at their place by a slim margin and their 2nd loss is to a Georgia Tech team that took Georgia to 8 OT’s. This is totally ridiculous. We all know the Network ABC- ESPN and Fox wanted Alabama in. Oh by the way ESPN-ABC is owned by the same financial institution that owns FOX. Yeah the same owner.
Head to head games are meaningless if the committee puts sc above ole miss and Alabama. Miami has 0 wins against ranked teams who gives a shit if they have two losses
@@Riyboyhgaufjrbskxj6you bet your ass if the head to head was the other way it wouldn’t matter all of a sudden. The committee showed us last year they would do anything necessary to make sure bama got in
I think the 2 programs that are really going to consistently stand out for the foreseeable future are Texas, and Oregon. Recruiting, keeping coordinators, and culture, are something both are doing very well, right now. Others may sneak in occasionally, but that’s might prediction.
I just have to repeat back to you something you just said about teams thinking that what they've been doing to get the championship, isn't enough for the big game... the same is true about your show. You've gotten this big because you were doing what people wanted to hear. If you go changing it, thinking you have to be different or bigger now that you're the big guy, you'll risk losing the people and things that got you where you are. Please keep playing your game.
Idk why South Carolina keeps saying they were screwed. They lost the head to head game? I'd love for Beamer and the boys to get in. I don't understand the argument.
The argument is that we lost to Ole Miss and our best player, LaNorris Sellers, only played half the game. The argument is we were screwed 10 ways from Sunday in the LSU game AND Sellers got hurt in that game (even Josh agrees with that). The argument is that Bama got boat-raced by Oklahoma in their penultimate regular season game. Historically, late season games are treated as playoff games. What I mean is that if you lose a regular season game late in the season you are punished more severely because you don't have time to rectify it. Bama lost to OU, they didn't have time to rectify it, but they received the benefit of the doubt anyway. That's the SC argument. That being said, I must admit that if you shot me full of truth serum, I'd confess that Ole Miss probably deserves to get in the playoff ahead of my Gamecocks AND Bama. Their losses were all competitive and they have substantial wins. Everyone brings up the UK loss but Notre Dame loss to Northern Illinois. That didn't keep them out. The Rebels should have gotten the nod. Go Gamecocks!
@@ohtaylor5no they shouldn’t. Alabama beat LSU by 40 that you and ole miss both lost to and beat SC head to head. You wrote all that shit and didn’t even acknowledge that 😂. Stop whining
@@BartCathey-g2c we just pretending Bama didn't get smoked a week and a half ago by a lousy team that SC and Ole Miss handled easily? Bama are lucky the committee values early season h2h over current form.
A 3 loss Alabama team should not be in the playoffs at all. Thats just ridiculous. They are not even in SEC Championship Game. They just lost to Oklahoma 2 weeks ago.
Kindly please do not. I tune into your show for elaborate explanations and crazy takes that you bring back full circle. If I wanted to listen to buzz words or open-ended statements I would watch cable sports tv. Keep being your most authentic self and from one Georgia boy to another keep the ideas a flowing! Keep up the great work Mr. Pate!
Their best win is basically Bama's 3rd best win. Their second best win IS Bama's 3rd best win. They lost the head-to-head. Their losses aren't as bad as Bama's, sure. But wins matter more than losses and H2H matters. USCe was running on being a hot team late, even though ther top wins are a Missouri that didn't beat the ranked teams they played and a Clemson that went 0-2 against ranked teams.
I also vote no on the hater segments. I think that airing the trolls and haters will only encourage additional haters who want to make it onto your show.
Each team has a good win, good loss, and a bad loss. The problem is ohio states bad loss was at home as a 21 point favorite. Tennessee’s was on the road at night. And Ohio states strength of schedule is propped up by a weak Indiana and penn state win. Penn state and Indians are both ranked too high as they have 0 good wins. That’s why.
And Tennessee's only good win is to 3 loss Alabma while PSU has 3 loss Illinois.... yea stfu Tennessee Homer. Enjoy going in the road and losing road 1. Cya. OSU resume is soooo much better.
There are arguments for both sides. Compare both teams’ worst loses. On road at arky (+12ish) 6 weeks ago and at home vs mich (+24ish) last week. Indiana drops 5 spots losing at OSU. UGA drops 9 spots after losing at ole Miss. but OSU drops only 4 spots after losing at home to 24 point dog in mich. That’s the one that really stands out to me anyways. Now OSU has wins over two current playoff ranked top 10 teams. There is just no real consistency from week to week and some teams set a precedent for their loses but then other teams suffer a worse loss and are dropped no where near what the previous precedent has been. Just my two cents. Playing at OSU will be fun but in my opinion based off of what the committee has already done, tn should be hosting. But it is what it is. Get to play another game regardless.
I wouldn’t assume they keep SMU in over Bama if they lose to Clemson. Clemson is not a playoff caliber team and SMU has a really weak strength of schedule with no ranked wins. Bama would beat them in every playoff criteria besides W/L which really means nothing. Give bama SMUs schedule and they go undefeated easily. So in my opinion bama is in regardless.
So why does Miami fall 6 spots for losing to a team that was 3 games above .500 but Alabama losses by 3 to a 5-5 unranked Oklahoma team at home and don't fall but barely outta the top 10?? Joke. A joke.
Miami has no ranked wins. Bama has 4. And one of those 4 is a top 5 team…give me miamis best win, I’ll wait. lol.. Pretty fucking easy explanation. You people need to have a brain. Like I can understand 100% why Alabama is above my team. They beat them. Like. Be serious lol.
Yes Alabama it’s, who did you beat, everyone else it who did you lose to. SOS is a joke concept, put 3/4 of a conference in the top 25 pre season all will have a higher sos. Yes many of those team were unjustified.
@@michaelparton1059 The SEC as a league went 13-7 in matchups against other Power 4 conferences. The ACC was 9-17. The SEC was 8-3 vs. the ACC. Alabama opponents have a combined 92-52 record - a .638 winning percentage Miami opponents have a 73-71 record - a .506 winning percentage.
@@PONDEROSA27 the metrics are all reversed engineered to get the results they want. Ranked wins🤣, we’re are Miami’s ranked wins…they’re 26-30 where they intentionally put them. It should be conference champions playoff. That preserves the regular season. Honestly this year, if Texas wins the sec championship, the BCS would've worked
Ohio State Alabama Clemson LSU Georgia Michigan those are the teams who have previously won the 4 team CFP. 4 of those 6 teams are currently in contention for going to be in the CFP. those teams listed above more than likely will never miss a CFP, especially once Michigan is done with the rebuild and LSU moves off Brian Kelly. everyone’s mad that Alabama is gonna get in: it’s called Alabama playoff fatigue. you add now the future powerhouses Texas, Oregon, and SMU, along with more SEC and Big-10 teams. people were tired of the same teams getting in every single year thinking a cinderella will appear with expansion. this isn’t college basketball, it’s a totally different game. so people who asked for expansion, you got your wish.
I can't help but notice Ohio St is at the top of the list. And Michigan is at the bottom. I'll take what I can get after last weekend. Thanks. I really needed that 😆

Crazy idea: We put the top 12 teams in a playoff, seeded by ranking, and no autobids period. If you want an opportunity to play for a championship, you need to crack the top 12!
Nah, I think the playoff should be ONLY conference champions. I would break the P4 into more conferences first, but still. How can you be the best in the country if you are not even the best in your own conference? Conference championships, especially for reasonably sized (8-12) team conferences, are far more objective that polls. You win a conference on hard math alone. No power rating, no Vegas odds, no opinions, no eye tests, just Ws and Ls. If you don’t win this year, go play your bowl game and try again next year
@52flyingbicycles good thing no one will take you advice. Could you imagine letting ASU or Clemson in while Texas/Georgia loser is out.... what a dumb comment. Like seriously what is it about college football that people just say the dumbest things
@ yes I would let ASU or Clemson in while leaving the Texas/Georgia loser out. I would also have more conferences so it’s not just 4 teams, but I stand by my position. You want to go to the playoff, win your conference. None of this chickity chick “SEC is just different” go cry in your bowl game. How can you be crowned #1 in the country if you weren’t even crowned #1 in your conference? It’s stupid. Conference championships should matter.
16 teams, and here's why: Those on-campus games are going to be HUGE, no matter where they're played. There's only four of them with 12 teams (or 8). With 16 teams, there's eight on campus games. I'd rather see Selection Sunday before the Conference Championship games and leave those as the special events they are for those players.
You likely won't see this but THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for pointing out how prime that 5 seed is. As an Oregon fan I am leaning toward wanting my team to lose this weekend. Not sure if you read that right but yes I want my oregon ducks to potentially lose this weekend so they can cakewalk into the final 4
Who’s gonna be in front of them? Miami 💀 who hasn’t beaten a ranked team all year? South Carolina who Alabama beat? No and no. Just say “ talking about Alabama makes my weiner hard”
This is the Golden Age of College Football! This playoff format is great. 16 teams, no byes, is the next logical format. Go Blue, watch out for us in 25!
Personally, Alabama is the SEC team best built to play in cold weather. Let Milroe run wild. And cold weather is the perfect excuse to not let him throw the ball. And can play good run defense. Just my Yankee opinion
Last time we played in "cold" weather (Norman is colder than typical SEC games), we tried to run Milroe and got absolutley booty blasted against a bad OU team.
As a follow up to my Boise State post, IMO the top rated P5 school should get an automatic bid to the playoff, but their ranking should be based upon strength of schedule.

Yes this was a very foreseeable circumstance. Just wait till you learn that UNLV, if they upset Boise state gets in over many many deserving teams
I think it could be interesting to add it into the show, and hey! We get more Josh Pate that way.

@@Jeepster84 what did you expect to happen when you expand the playoff?
I think most college football fans don’t want teams that are in the same conference to play for the 3rd time in a season in the first round or quarterfinals of the playoffs. If they are going to play for 3rd time they would rather it be in semifinals or national title game. Of course I could be wrong and just projecting my thoughts onto the fandom at large.
Committee needs to rank appropriately such that this could only happen in a final.
@@chrismcdonald7086 Maybe instead of just putting them in a bracket and playing out tournament they could make it so that each round the highest seed always plays the lowest seed remaining and then the 2nd highest plays the 2nd lowest and so on. Least interesting game in the playoffs …
Great show as always
Do you think Boise State should be able to drop out for playing in their conference title?
uf they lose
@ do you feel the same way about SMU or only Boise?
Yes because Boise has not beat anyone with a pulse. Same thing with SMU. MW (or any team of that caliber conference),ACC, Big12 if you lose the championship game you are out.
@ But if a sec or big 10 team were on the bubble and in the the conference championship should they drop out with a loss?
Great show.!

They got screwed against LSU and lost by 2 to bama on the road and playing on the road in the sec is a real disadvantage- Georgia fan

Can anyone tell me how Tennessee should be ranked above Ohio State? Haven't heard anything logical in Tennessee defense when comparing them.
Vols didn't lose at home to a 19 pt dog.
Where is TN ranked above Ohio?
Bama fan here and I agree that Ol Miss should be in over Bama. If Clemson wins the ACC it’s a moot point anyway

Who’s gonna be in front of them? Miami 💀 who hasn’t beaten a ranked team all year? South Carolina who Alabama beat? No and no. Just say “ talking about Alabama makes my weiner hard”
They beat everyone’s favorite team.. South Carolina.
He ran wild for a whopping 7 yards against Oklahoma. Fucking shit show
Completely wrong. TN has a better defense and running game than Alabama. Milroe gets shut down against good defenses
@@lawrencematthes8948 7 yards against Oklahoma 🤣
lol milroe a bum
Joe Moore....as an ND fan, I could not believe we were even on the list.
As a follow up to my Boise State post, IMO the top rated P5 school should get an automatic bid to the playoff, but their ranking should be based upon strength of schedule.
16 teams! No Byes!
5 champs, 4 SOR, 4 AP Rank, 3 Coach Rank.
Bulletproof.
Weave it into the show!!!!
I like the idea of answering fan questions or takes if those takes are thought out and reasoned. Hate the idea of watching you take on trolls.
