I heard other viewers say that the Wingate had a good Chinese buffet. Do you know of any good buffets in Regina nowadays? Thanks for checking out my video.
@@DanSetoChineseCanadianRootsTV last time I went through one of the better albeit more expensive was the rotisserie on the east end. ( not chinese). Also on east end fairly decent big selection is china liang’s. I believe it bought the wingate buffet at some point but couldn’t keep both running. There are others. I always thought the ‘China town’ of regina was east Victoria. Lol
i live 4 blocks from there... Regina was always a Craphole, but its gotten 10x worse since the Liberals got in an decriminalized drugs... now there are "locals", mostly natives, fried out of their brains on Fentanyl lying all over the streets day and night... trash, human and regular garbage everywhere ya go... Regina is an absolute dumpster fire!!...
Jeez Louise!! I thought to myself, so sad the mentally ill and the junkies on the streets of Regina.. But then you showed us a little inside of Vancouver! This kind of situation is unthinkable unimaginable even, here in The Netherlands. God bless
I'm not too familiar with the laws in Regina, but I'm sure they are not as lax as in Vancouver. Regardless, they are both bad situations. Thanks for viewing my video.
The Wingate used to have a China Liangs Restaurant on the ground floor. The dim sum was very good and they had a spralling buffet. Covid shut it all down and it never came back.
Thanks for the info! I would have liked to try their buffet. I talked to quite a few restaurant owners in Saskatchewan, Alberta and B.C. and they were saying the same thing.... buffets never came back after Covid. Also people did not eat out in restaurants as much. Very sad to hear. Thanks for viewing my video.
I agree that Regina has great Vietnamese food. ISome viewers have made suggestions for me to try. Great tasting Vietnamese food with large portions and cheaper prices than Vancouver. That impressed me very much.
I wonder what the population of Regina is? It reminds me of some smaller towns in my homestate of Oklahoma. Had a friend from Saskatchewan who told me it's very similar to some of the central states in the US. Very interesting video.

I just wanted to check out the Chinatown but there wasn't much to see or experience. I hope to come back see a Regina Eoughriders football game. Thanks for checking out my video.
From what I understand, the Regina Chinatown was an unofficial Chinatown. It never really took off in any major way. Still, I found Regina interesting enough for another future visit. Thanks for commenting and thanks for checking out my video.
What surprised me is Regina still has a small town feel. Not a glitzy city but I found the people pretty friendly. I will attend a Roughriders game for sure the next time I viisit. Thanks for checking out my video.
11th ave is like the hasting's street in Vancouver. china town is not so much anymore as the homeless took over. it more spread out now. I know the east end of the city opened up a new chinese market. Downtown is dieing in my opinion. most business are going to the south end or east end where you don't see much of the homelessness. I'm born and raised vancouver and back in the days of the 80s and 90s you didnt see a lot of homeless in vancouver not like you see now. its a shame really.
Thanks for the update on Regina. I hope to visit Regina again to watch a Roughrider game so it's good to know more about Regina. Unfortunately the situation in Vancouver is getting worse. Thanks for checking out my video.
We currently have a conservative mayor and premier and they're not interested in providing social services for the homeless. Quite the opposite. They're leaving the mess for the next NDP government. Can't wait!

Yes, you are correct. The food in Regina and other places had food that didn't change , as you say for the last 30 years. I really enjoyed eating it. Thanks for viewing my video.

There used to be a lot of Chinese stores on that stretch of China town, most all left or closed down
Thanks for the update. Do you remember what years they had the most stores on that stretch?

I know where some of those locations location.
I used to live in Regina from Toronto. As a Japanese-Chinese, this city has one of the best Pho places I've ever had in Canada.

The Saskatchewan winters are pretty harsh so that’s the main reason there’s not as many homeless on the streets here.
