This level has always creeped me out, and I'm gonna explain why. When I was a kid, I used to sneak out of bed in the middle of the night to play the PS1; we had it in the basement. Anyway, I was playing Spyro, and made it to this level on one particular night. I had just beaten the boss, and was headed for the vortex back to the hub world, when out of no where, I hear one of those big guys making his death noise... over and over and over again. I had no idea where it was coming from, and it was loud, and it just freaked me out. XD I had trouble falling asleep that night.
For those wondering about the gems that are supposed to be on the ledge opposite to where at 5:13 they are located there only in the NTSC version. This is the PAL version which moved the gems and chest to be on the same ledge due to the glide to reach the ledge being very difficult.
It’s possible! Go straight across the gap (ledges parallel) start flight at absolute top of your jump, do the flap back pull back thing in the air for like .0003 milliseconds and charge at the very last second👌🏾 good luck!
When you use the original Spyro Trilogy as a walkthrough for the original Spyro Trilogy because they fucked up the character designs in the Reignited version
Always loved the skybox here, with the moon and stars in the sky and the clouds and the long moon rays or rain showers beaming down, similar to the skybox in Alpine Ridge but much taller
Me: tries 2 complete every spyro level 2 the best of my ability without looking at walkthroughs unless I am absolutely 100% stumped. Has had 2 look at walkthrough 4 almost every level (cuz there’s always a secret that i miss) . Eventually gives up on metalhead boss & looks at walkthrough. Sees spyro glide into sewers. Me: “Oh my god!” 😑 Lol this pretty much describes Spyro in a nutshell XD
Because it's been a popular topic in the past, I assume you're talking about me not getting any gems from the ledge you'd have to jump to after the swirly thing. There are no gems there on the PAL version.
So apparently I can't 100% this game when emulating on a PS1 Classic (used my own legally obtained copy from my disc). The ledge across the gap you see at 5:41 is totally unreachable and apparently this is the level where Spyro on PS1 shows off its crack prevention method. The game moves 5 gems to that ledge so you can't finish the level 100%. I knew Spyro 2 and 3 did similar things including having characters berate you for not owning the game and removing or making some collectibles unreachable but I didn't know Spyro 1 did this as well.
It is possible to make that jump, its just quite hard. The 5 gems there are present in all NTSC (USA) versions of Spyro, but in the PAL (Europe) and NTSC-J (Japanese) releases, they are moved to the ledge the whirlwind puts you on because of the difficulty of said jump. There is no crack prevention present in the first 2 games, with it being present in the 3rd as you said. Not only did zoe inform you of the cracked game and certain eggs and gems were removed from levels, it also had many other evil tricks, such as booting you from a level, sometimes going back to the wrong homeworld, sparx being permanently green and losing sparx upon getting a butterfly, portals in midnight mountains taking you to level from sunrise spring, languages in PAL copies randomly changing, and worst of all, having your entire save file reset upon getting to the sorceress fight.
@@lemonmd6162 Ah, so Reignited Trilogy uses the EU and JP location of the gems because that was my referrence point as I never made it this far on an original release when I was a kid (I was 3 in 2000 when I first played the original game, sad to say that I had more experience with Enter The Dragonfly than I did with the OG masterpiece trilogy Insomniac made).
@@lemonmd6162 Just for a referrence point, I didn't have a memory card for myself at the time (we had two, my brother's which had Nascar save and Gran Turismo 1 and 2, and my dad's which was loaded up so I had no way to save and restarted everytime I played).
@@atTiffanys88 I really need to alter this comment or take it down as I finally figured out the trick to this one a few weeks later and have since 100% completed the game multiple times after, one of which was on my phone.
I meant on the other side of the ledge. For some reason the gems in my game are on the opposite side of the whirlwind while the exact same gems (3 red, 1 green in a basket) appeared next to the exit level instead. You know? the ledge that is across of the ledge you're on in 5:09 .
Natasha Young same for me and I can see them but this video doesn't show me how to get them and at 5:13 it's the gems to the left but when this one runs through those gems are gone and I've watched it three times and I can't see when it gets those gems it's two red ones and a treasure chest
lol i remember this game i still have mine. i remember that moment too where you can be all like "i can get to that other spot!" and then you start falling and die.lol
When did you get the treasure box and jewels on the opposite side of the whirlwind, inside the temple thing? I watched it twice, but the just aren’t there?
JohnnyDFox No dude I watch the video back again and there's no audio pop that I heard but there is a tiny skip in the video maybe like a second before the timestamp I put in
Its not... and no alot of sound files were often shared back then because every company wasn't a bunch of greedy bastards and copyright laws weren't so fucking tight. So you got a lot of similar sounds in games.
I actually had the same problem with that ledge until I hit the edge for the millionth time, and as I bounced off the wall, i quickly pressed the X button again, and in flew me rite on, it was ridiculously lucky

Nice story men, thanx for share

@@aaronsital7078Thank you so much I was also here about that specific glide!
That "URGH!" noise some enemies make when you charge them never gets old. It makes me laugh so hard! XD
It’s just like those tank guys in Terrace Village! Haha. Yeah it still makes me laugh
TAY AH!"
Same here!
Anybody else love the music so much??? It's just so crazy nostalgic. It gives me comfort sometimes.
When you use the original Spyro trilogy as a walkthrough so you don’t get spoilers for the graphical detail of the reignited trilogy.😎
whats funny is i used the original tree tops ramp tutorial to beat the new version before anyone even posted the new games lol
what detail
The enemy's look alot better in the ps1 version
When you use the original Spyro Trilogy as a walkthrough for the original Spyro Trilogy because they fucked up the character designs in the Reignited version
This level gave me the creeps as a kid when the dragon you rescued said “This big robot is all charged up to meet you…”
The real boss of Beast Makers, is that fucking ledge by the end whirlwind...
1:15 that sync tho
Always loved the skybox here, with the moon and stars in the sky and the clouds and the long moon rays or rain showers beaming down, similar to the skybox in Alpine Ridge but much taller
FINALLY a boss that's both challenging AND distinguishable from regular enemies! XD
Looks like a fun level. Anyway, did anyone notice a sound effect that is also in breeze harbour (spyro 2)?
It is also in Beast Makers
I always used to laugh at the sound the creatures at 0:11 made. Not sure why, just found it pretty funny I guess, haha
CrossLab I love it too
yah, the banana guys
Most satisfying sound in the game
It's exactly the same sound from the gnorcs in Terrace Village! Lol! It's the funniest enemy death sound ever!
AAUGH!

I tried to watch a walkthrough from the remake and was really confused
ahhh, sweet memories..
I went into the swirly thing at 5:09 and followed the ledge. I don't really see what could be the problem there.
I wish they had kept the “UURGH!!” Sound in the remake
Somehow he skipped showing the ledge at the end

Same thing happened to me, with a purchased game. It's hard but it IS possible! At the top of your glide, hit charge! Worked for me.

Fun times back in the day!!! Whooo! I'll be buying this for my PS3!!!

That's because your playing the NTSC version. This is the PAL version where they moved the gems onto the same ledge
Awesome Times
Don't know what to tell you then, the gems weren't there for me and you can clearly see how at the end the game states I have 500 out of 500 gems.
Metalhead.
race: robot🤖.
element: metal🪙, technology⚙️, electricity⚡.
ability: electrokinesis, metal mimicry, invulnerability.
strength: energy🔋.
weakspot: power poles.
Now this is what you call a game :'(
So the adult dragons in this game... let the tiny kid do everything. Yeah.
Even though Gnasty is a amateur with magic he does seem good with machines. Either way, this Metalhead does create living beings for a machine.
This one of the better bosses in spyro 1
Sadiki is a purple dragon too!!
I beat that boss without even trying or knowing it was a boss when I was 5...
Metalhead was and is my favorite boss.
Can’t wait to play this level in the reignited trilogy!
This Boss was one giant idiot. More often than not he'd miss you and blow up his own Towers, LOL
I loved this bossfight because it was so damn easy and fun :k
Except for finding the key... In my opinion!
I've done this one with 5 gems missing and can't find them for the life of me, followed this video too but can not seem to recover the 5 gems
Natasha Young same for me and I can see them but this video doesn't show me how to get them and at 5:13 it's the gems to the left but when this one runs through those gems are gone and I've watched it three times and I can't see when it gets those gems it's two red ones and a treasure chest

So Nostalgic!!😔
Why the PAL versions are different than the NTSC ones?
lol i remember this game i still have mine. i remember that moment too

This is the PAL version where they moved the gems. I take it you had the NTSC version
I have the same thing, if I understand you correctly. I could just fly over there though, it was a little hard making the gap, but possible.
Metalhead is the hardest boss in the game (IMO).
Chris Capaccio For me it was always Doctor Shemp
He's my favourite boss. Always a good chance I'll die fighting him.
i guess y'all never fought the last boss.
This game in general is pretty easy. Playing as a kid it was harder but still not too bad
Where are the gems on that ledge in the final room? Shouldn't there be 3 red gems and a chest with a green one?
It was removed it from the PAL version since it was notoriously tight to glide across the ledge for many players.
yes I have the original Spyro and I can't seem to get over there and get that I'm missing 5 gems
So THIS is the PAL version!
omfg this level...as soon as i saw the robot im like FUUCCCKKK NOOO and turned around.....i was like 8 at the time
Guys the robot metalhead might be a reference to jak and daxter metalheads
I doubt it. since Jak and Daxter hadn't even been released yet lol.
this came out before jak and daxter
No its probably the other way around. Jak and Daxter weren't even a thing yet at the time of Spyro 1's release
Yes, it's like that for me too and I can't get them. :( It must have been something they fixed in future versions.
how did you get the gems on the ledge near the end? I didn't see you collect them and Im having a hard time getting em. 5:41
The gems on that ledge are only there in the NTSC version. This is the PAL version where they moved them
This was the only boss that took forever for me to beat. Shove off.
In my opinion the best boss in the game..
3:08
I got them by charging then jumping off the edge gives spyro a bit more momentum
3:07 GIANT SPYRO
Anyone else notcie the shitty editing skip at 5:35?
There's no shitty editing skip, there's a shitty audio pop.
JohnnyDFox No dude I watch the video back again and there's no audio pop that I heard but there is a tiny skip in the video maybe like a second before the timestamp I put in
There's no skip, you can easily tell by lowering the video playback speed.
Oh shit son i just pickled myself broham, theres a region difference on gem placments
understandable have a nice day
This robot is like megatron where oh damn it's a robot but then it turns out to be a sissy boss fight like megatron in the 2nd and 3rd movie!!!
Are the bigger ones females cuz their voices are so much higher and the smaller ones get kicked around by them?
yes!
Pink mohawk :-D
I'm having the same problem.
faltan unos diamantes arriba del final antes e irte no paso como los recojistes
when you hit them and they go huh it sounds exactly like the bad guys in crash bandicoot so must be the same creators!
Its not... and no alot of sound files were often shared back then because every company wasn't a bunch of greedy bastards and copyright laws weren't so fucking tight. So you got a lot of similar sounds in games.
I found it! /watch?v=YqtPVF8ScVo He just Charges at the very end of the Glide.
A cyborg
I beated this boss on my second try!
Right on. 😊👍
I actually had the same problem with that ledge until I hit the edge for the millionth time, and as I bounced off the wall, i quickly pressed the X button again, and in flew me rite on, it was ridiculously lucky

One of the easiest bosses in the game, hell all the bosses were easy, it just takes a little tactic.
oh this boss was fun but yer hes totaly easy to beat! i love this game shame another gaming legend gone down the drain coz of shitty games :(
Gazza660 The ones from spyro 3 were the more toughs
