The moustache head without the helmet looks like the Oktober Guard's Horrorshow. As with NE Trap Jaw I really am a fan of this figure. I love the leg armour being part of the sculpt and covering the whole lower leg, love the heads and the shoulder crest, love the colour palette. NE are the mini comic toys. They capture the dark sword and sorcery feel of those early concepts.
I was a little on the fence about this figure, though I probably would have gotten him eventually, because Duncan is one of my favourite characters. However, the removable helmets cinched the deal, because I've been wanting a younger mustacheless Man-at-Arms since forever. I wasn't even planning on collecting Masterverse and then only selected figures and now I'm buying the whole wave once it comes out.
Great review! I was not going to get this figure as the revelation one is a solid figure, however the removable helmets and display options really swung it for me!
I actually like how they've made the chain, as mace with the chain can be used for more dynamic posing, where Man at Arms is on the attack and swinging his mace, although I think it would also work nicely as you did it, with his arm relaxed and ball resting on the ground. For everything else standard mace is probably better option.
INCREDIBLE Art on the box .. I will continue to stand on my SOAP BOX and ask why MATTEL USA is catering to the USA at retail while the line continues to be exstinct here ...sadly :( great video
I don't like the switch to having the accessories in a paper bag. I really hate that with Hasbro's and it took a long time to switch it out. Many times, I've had to go through my trash and get that paper out to try and find a small accessory; it it hadn't fallen out already. OR at least make that bag more clear, so I can see that it's empty. Very frustrating and irritating. I like seeing the art in front but I don't like the toy posed at the back. I think what would be a cool idea would be one of the unobstructed art work and quick bio. Although, I love McFarlane's gimmick with a trading card size having the artwork on one side and bio on another.
Mace ball with a chain is supposed to be used in motion when you are displaying a battle scene and not when Duncan is just standing there. Hope that explains the choice they made when not putting a real chain on😉
My honest opinion, Mattel seems incapable of doing Man at arms right at this point. Classics was great, they put out 3 great man at arms figures, the regular classics, the helmetless battle ram version, and the club grayskull filmation version. The origins original release was alright, but masterverse versions have not impressed me at all. With this one i feel like they were so close, but between that curled up mustache and the ball and chain, (which had so much potential), im afraid this is just another man at arms that will be a hard pass for me. Looking forward to the origins cartoon version.

Man, I love the metallic paint detail and all the engineering that went into this guy! Masterverse just keeps getting better and better!
