    Origins and Masterverse are kind of like Classics split into two lines to take more of your money. They're both cool but really I cant see them beating Classics. I will say the distribution and availability of the new lines are definitely a step up and just the simple fact that Classics is way too expensive on the secondary market to try to get into now.

    all 4 look awesome! I do not own 1 classics figure! but looking at them side by side i can see masterverse giving them a run for there money. My eyes kept drawing to the classics he-man becauseof the colors we are so used to🙌, but the barbarian he-man looks outstanding beside him👍 I'm happy with these masterverse because I missed out completely on classics😔 but I'm thankful for my vintage figs and origins as well. Great review thank you🙌👏👏👏

    When it comes to overall quality and just shear dynamic looks of the figures, Classics is still my number 1. If we’re going by affordability at the moment, then it’s Origins with that great nostalgia feel of the original figures. Masterverse are cool in their own right, but they’re no Classics.

    • @TheBigBigSean
      @TheBigBigSean 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Clay3613 - That is a pretty dumb take. Classics were $20-$25 for most of the run. Towards the end of the line, Mattle's ebay store had Classics for less $20-$10 each. Point Dread and Battle Ram sets were only $45 at one point.
      And as far as them "not being toys", that is probably the dumbest part of your comment. Their durability alone gives them 5 out of 5 stars as a toy. They can be played with, bashed, thrown off a roof, and still be intact.
      I'm guessing you don't have very many MOTUCs. You missed out so you want to bash them. Meanwhile you're left to pay your hard earned money for lame Masterverse figures with MOTUR styelization. Sucks to be you.

    • @Tim85-y2q

      Yeah. Masterverse has produced some good figures, but Classics produced a more or less definitive figure of almost every character. I doubt Masterverse will ever get as deep on the bench as MOTUC did either. For people getting into collecting now though, Masterverse is easily the more practical option.

    • @Chalor.
      @Chalor. ปีที่แล้ว

      Started collecting MOTUC from day one, so I have A LOT....and so far, I'm definitely loving the new stuff more, like New Eternia. They're just by far superior action figures. Classics were excellent at a time, but they're obviously very dated now. No ball jointed upper torsos, the ugly single jointed knees and elbows, no ankle rockers on most, no interchangeable hands, huge pins, proportions not matching the source material as much as New Eternia, etc.
      So even though I recognize what Mattel is doing now is objectively better in every way...I still overall prefer the Classics (and even Filmation) stuff more. Maybe one day it'll be different...but like others have said, I doubt this new line will _remotely_ come close to what Mattel achieved back then.

  • @TankAce69
    @TankAce69 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    Mattel needs to sell again the classics figure line in stores. Just make new arms and legs with double joints to attach to the classics torso and reuse the weapons, armors, heads accessories to save on production cost.

      I 100% agree. I bought A He-Man and Skeletor in the last year and a half. They are short and stout 4-5 inch figures made to look like the 80's figs but, with some modern articulation that are cheap. Wish I could get that motu classic for a reasonable price.
      I only started collecting again the past couple of years. I learned about the current when the netflix show came out. And a few months ago about the 40th ann. He-Man will be coming out. I wanted to get as soon as it was available. Just now, from this video, I realized it's a 7" line. I've been wanting 6" more natural proportioned He-Man for a while now. Iaslo just learned, from this video, that exactly what I wanted came out more than a decade ago. But, is not affordable.

Classics were great and amazing that the community got behind it and made it what it was but the figures themselves are all the same Buck with it being a gross buck imo lol the ab crunch is bad the shoulder to bicep is gross and there were so many problems from weak ankles and others and I haven't found a problem with Masterverse yet. Articulation is key for me and Classics were trash imo when it came to that. Masterverse is offering soft goods and extra hands so everyone isn't giving a thumbs up... Masterverse is also hitting all areas of MOTU just like Classics. I’m enjoying Masterverse so far, I love what they are doing, I do wish the 4HM were still on sculpting duties however that doesn’t mean there are not better sculptors out there. • @BatFan1
    @BatFan1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    MOTUC has the advantage so far because of longevity of the line and that the designs were pretty much the vintage line in 1/12 scale with added articulation and "proper" proportions. Masterverse is using the body bucks off of the Netflix Revelation series, so no matter what variation they do (aside from the CGI kids show figures) the proportions will be a bit weird. That being said the female bucks starting with the Vintage inspired Teela and upcoming Catra and She-Ra look way better than MOTUC. A better comparison will be the 40th anniversary He-Man that will release later this year because that does have some updated sculpting in the torso and the face is almost spot on to the vintage figure, so I would suggest you revisit this comparison when that figure comes out. .

I like Classics Tri-Klops more based on his eyes being Green, Blue and Red as opposed to the same color on the Masterverse version. Trap Jaw on the other hand looks a bit better in the Masterverse (provided you keep his jaw shut.)

    • @sdaeley17
      @sdaeley17 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting comparison! I collect mostly MOC, so I couldn't handle "Trap Kermit," haha. I would have loved if Tri-Klops had the multi-colored eyes, but his head seemed oversized to me. (Also, it was way easier to convince the fiance' to get me a $30 figure for Christmas than a $200 one!)
      I kinda wish most of these figures were handled like Tri-klops and Trapjaw with multiple looks and accessories (especially Beast Man and Mer-Man) but Mattel'd prefer we buy multiple figures than spend a little more on ones that have everything we want.

    • @RisingBean
      @RisingBean 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sdaeley17 Boxes are resealable like Marvel Legends. You can "MOC" Trap Jaw by cutting one piece of scotch tape, closing his mouth and then the box. If you don't have him elsewhere, I'd recommend it. As far as Tri-Klops, I believe his head is a bit big, but the varied eyes still edges him out. As far as the ladies, Mine got me Cyborg Skeletor. She's a gem. I'm with you on the deluxe stuff. Since Mattel isn't doing that, I'm just using the lesser versions are army builders. That upcoming deluxe Beast Man is poised to redefine what a top tier MOTU figure is going to be. He looks absolutely amazing, easily beating MOTUC Beast-Man.
    Right out of the gate though, you didn't knock the MOTUC He-Man for the reversed shoulders, and that's the Vizine version so that had the reversed shoulders. A ton of people got crap ankles on King Grayskull, which is why both of those figures eventually got re-releases to fix the problems, and to this day, I have the Green Goddess' limbs in a bin waiting for me to fix her exploded crotch.
    My point being, shiny plastic or no, Masterverse has already proven itself better in the QC department, MOTUC struggled with weak ankles throughout the line, and the male figures didn't even get real side to side motion, they wobbled a bit breeches they weren't well constructed. The loin cloths were frequently too hard to show for forward leg poses, the hair on the girls was often too hard to enable head posing... which I'm not saying Masterverse has perfected, but so far, i think they're beating MOTUC in those considerations. There were absolutely things MOTUC did better, but I don't think it's as cut and dry as your summary suggested.

    In a word, yes.
    Each Series gets better. The articulation is better. The paint apps would be the area it may not be AS good as, but they can hold their own. MOTUC are great for moc and vanilla posing. I had them all and loved each one, but the articulation even then was badly outdated. Masterverse has better articulation and things we sorely needed like more accessories, more alt heads and more alt hands.

    Masters of the Universe Classics was fantastic. The impact is secure; it essentially set the stage for MOTU's arrival as a Legacy IP even though it wasn't retail based. And did so with quality figures. ... However it's not untouchable as far as making better figures - and I'd think anyone that is looking for anything further would welcome it being "outdone" in that regard. Masterverse ain't gonna be the line to do it though ( according to my taste anyway) with that current buck. It is cool to see some stronger figures coming out though; specifically on the New Eternia end.
