    Sir,
    I do not own a Lee press. I own a Dillon. But I still want to thank you for this discussion and its solutions. It is because of kind and thoughtful people like you that make this hobby of our much safer for each of us. Thank you!

      Thank you for the reviews of my videos. I thought your idea for adjusting dies on the Lee Pro 1000 was a good one, so I just published one on you tube. th-cam.com/video/ZS2Dxo3ALSA/w-d-xo.html

    I have an idea. The guide bushing for the Pro 1000 Quick Change Turret: This a low cost no machining, no modification guide bushing using 5/32nd inch automotive vacuum tubing. Used the ½ inch length you recommended. Pushed it all the way up inside the turret. Friction holds it in place.
    It can be lubed with silicone spray/grease. I used a little spray applied to the shaft. After about five cycles I can’t even tell its there. And boy is it centered/solid! By the same token since it is rubber there is still some give in case of binding.

    With all of the inventing you do, I have two words. McMaster Carr. They have virtually everything you could want or need. They have been indispensable during my career. They are nationwide, they are the friendliest AMERICANS you will ever deal with, and service is fantastic. When I order something, I get it the next day. You pay for shipping, but in our business, time is definitely money!

    Thank you so much for this video. I was having problems with the brass going into the sizing die at station 1. The brass would hit the die and I would have to push it with my finger to line it up with the die. After installing the bushing with instructions from your video, everything lines up perfect. Again awesome video and I will be watching the others.

      Brass would work too. Also, someone with a 3D printer could make a part that fits that odd shape without even having to drill. Thanks for the idea.

    Hello, why not round the 6-sided rod, at the tip that will enter the bushing?

    • @mshaw290808mi
      @mshaw290808mi  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just looked at my bushing that the 6-sided rod is rotating against . Have at least 1000 rounds through it since I put the bushing in. There is no signs of visible wear caused by the sides of the rod corners. The rod is rotating smoothly in the bushing. If it does wear significantly in the future I will certainly consider your suggestion. Thanks for the comment.

    I made a bushing out of aluminum (all I had) last night and run about 400 cases through the press. It's rock solid now.

    Through the course of all of your videos, you've had several variations and modifications to the primer tray shaking system. I see the primer pusher in this video, but no shaking mechanism. What are you currently using for this? Also, in a previous video, you show a fender washer/spring mechanism that assists with shaking, but I don't recall seeing an explanation in a video. If I missed that, could you tell me in which video you detail this idea? Thanks

    • @mshaw290808mi
      @mshaw290808mi  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very good question! In this video I did not use a primer shaker for four reasons: 1. The primer trough on my press is old and worn so it does a lot of wobbling on its own as the press goes up and down. 2. The bearing I put in the turret gave me new confidence in the press. 3. The low primer alarm on my press works 100% so I would know to check primers if it went off. 4. The primer shaker is noisy and distracting. So it was a side test for me while I was doing the video. I put 100 rounds through and had no problems with primers hanging up. I want to put at least 300 more rounds through it with out the shaker and see how many times ( if at all) the primers hang up. If it works well after 300 more rounds I will do a video on it. It was nicer using the press with the bearing turret and no primer shaker. With those two changes it made the press seem more precise and smooth. Here is the video with the fender washer shaker th-cam.com/video/Ihq7Ah2Ovs8/w-d-xo.html the part you are interested in starts at about 2 minutes in.

    What department at Lowes did you find the nylon busing in? What was its original intended use?

    • @mshaw290808mi
      @mshaw290808mi  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are called "Nylon Spacers" and I found them in the hardware department at Lowes, in the section with the pull out drawers that have lots of different hardware items it them. They are used for spacing parts away from one another, or as bearing surfaces. Sadly I Just looked and they now longer carry them. But I did find them on Ebay www.ebay.com/itm/NYLON-SPACER-1-2-X-257-X-1-2-PACK-OF-10-/161246906392?hash=item258b108818:g:Hm0AAOxyUI1TH3eI 10 for four dollars. The inside diameter will have to be drilled out to 9/32 of an inch. The Lowe's near me still carries a nylon spacer kit but it does not say what sizes it has on line. It can be found at www.lowes.com/pd/Hillman-Nylon-Spacer-Assortment-Fastener-Kit/999995770. Just as a quick reminder outside diameter needs to be 1/2", length 1/2 " or shorter so you can cut it down and inside diameter 9/32" (0.28125") or smaller so it can be drilled out. Hope this helps.

    Hi, ive come accross a issue on my pro 1000, the shell 0late has locked up halfway up the stroke , goes down a little and locks up on downward stroke ..effectivley the shell plate is locked midway up the stroke
    Any ideas? .....Regards

    • @mshaw290808mi
      @mshaw290808mi  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think I had that happen once, a primer had gotten wedged inside. Even if this is not your problem you will have to take it apart and clean it. If it is not a primer you will find out what it is that is causing the jam once you do a disassembly. It is always good to take it apart occasionally for cleaning and lubricating.

    • @jungleno.

      Most likely an errant primer is stuck under the plate.

    Hello sir, I'm having problem with the primer insert rod. When the casings goes up to the powder feeder, the primer its not placed all the way but halfway. Can you help me? Esteban.

    • @mshaw290808mi

      The most common reason for this is not pushing firmly they handle all the way forward on the down stroke. I made a video on checking this th-cam.com/video/CCt2n7fIHow/w-d-xo.html , you don't have to do the one with led lights, there is a very simple one using a piece of tape. If that is not the problem make sure there is no garbage between the carrier and base preventing the carrier from going all the way down. Also make sure the shell plate is fully tightened down and not riding up when you push the handle fully forward. If none of these solve your problems the next step would be to take apart the carrier assembly, clean and inspect, then replace. Hope this helps.

      I have found that if you call Lee Precision customer support that they will bend over backwards trying to help.

    • @jungleno.
      @jungleno. 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There might be a spent primer or some other debris on the base of the press preventing the shell plate carrier to go all the way down. That would prevent the primer from being seated deeply enough.

    I do like that idea ! But all i have is a hand drill..... so i will have to try to find a nylon bushing close to that size....

    • @mshaw290808mi
      @mshaw290808mi  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some one else commented that they did not have a drill press. So they took the nylon insert and cut away the areas were it hit the turret head, tested it first and then glued it in. They said it worked great!

    The major reason for the primer tipping over is not indexing the press... on the left side under the shellplate holder there in an indexing screw. And I really do not like the press without the return Bounce from the chain. I replaced my chain with a rod instead. Works perfect, and I get the rebounce too...
