  • Hey everyone! This is my full build of Hasegawa's 1/48 Nakajima Ki-44. It was a very nice kit hampered only by subpar decals, and with some careful airbrushing and smooth gloss paint layers I built it step by step into a beautiful defender of Japan.
    I normally try to make these longer and use as many of my tags as possible but frankly I can't be asked and I'm expecting this video to underperform anyway due to ~another~ longer-than-desired delay. Hope you enjoy, and hope I actually get the next one published when I intend to.
    Music, in a not correct order:

    • 10 Minutes of Relaxing...

      I know!! Very exciting. Unfortunately I don't really have the option of doing anything special for it, unless the viewers want to see something completely unrelated to modelling, like a WW2 gaming livestream or something. Probably won't do anything, though. Fingers crossed- maybe I'll have an opportunity to do something special for 10k someday!

    Nice build of this little JAF hot rod. Looks nice.
    Was the anti glare panel on the real Shoki really gloss black?
    Seems like it would be blinding in bright sunlight.

      I don't know for certain, but if I had to guess no. It's also not supposed to be black- it's that same blue-black you see on Zero cowls. I *think* the blue-black was a semigloss that sometimes would fade to matte in the sun, but I'm not sure.
      The kit provides a black decal for it. I just did black because I don't have any blue-black, and an all over gloss was easier to paint than selectively doing a semigloss.

    Just came here via feed, fellow modeler. Not looking too bad overal, the metalfinish being the dealbreaker. Approach is well ( metal over gloss surface) but you need to play more with your airpressure and your paint/ thinner ratio. Otherwise a crisp looking model! Cheers!!

    Love your work mate. I'm about to tuck into this kit myself. Can you please help me with paint colour choices as I primarily use Tamiya paints. What colour did you go with for the Gray-Green flaps? And also the propellor? Thanks again :)

    Great job, looking forward to what you'll create next, any plans to do modern aircraft?

    • @TheWaggishAmerican
      @TheWaggishAmerican  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Eventually. I have a jet age project whose video should be coming out soon. No 'modern' (as in currently in operation) subjects at the moment but I have a few in the stash that I may poke at this summer. F-22 and a few A10's, mostly. I've also got some Russian helicopters that I'd like to do, and though I don't own them I wouldn't mind doing a fullback or a flanker or something similar.

    • @TheWaggishAmerican
      @TheWaggishAmerican  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also have a Mig-21 is the 'I've cut a few parts out to hold them together' stage which I *guess* counts as modern since I'm building it like the Syrian Arab Air Force's current / a few years old examples they were / are using for CAS / strike / antiterror work.

      I'd also like to do Tom Cruise's F-18 from the new movie if I could find a kit that wasn't outrageous in price. Maybe wait till someone lists just the decals and through it on a reasonably priced Academy F-18.

    Great job, I built my first models with my father about 14-15years ago, it was a set of Soviet aircrafts, IL-2t, Yak-7 and Yak-9, for that time I thought those models to be the best (they were because I did it with father😊). A very long break till 2018, I bought a 1:9 Italeri Zündapp KS-750 with a sidecar, painted that bike with a brush, so the quality was 3-4/10⭐.
    Break for about 3.5-4years and I started with Air Canada Boeing 747 from Revell, I spent 1 day for that airplane, the quality is the worsest you have ever seen 🤣🤣🤣. The second was Airbus A380 Lufthansa from Revell, big one, 45-47cm, it was much better but not "that one". Then I found paint in spray and started building BMW R75 1:9 with a sidecar from Italeri, I made a very good model. Now I'm working on MiG-29 of Ukrainian Air Force from ICM 1:72, chassis and rockets left, and the next is Polish light bomber PZL 23A Karaś 1:72 from IBG Models, my friend gave it to me because he is no more in modeling (he said he won this model in school 7-9 years ago). For future I'd like to try making cars, especially Japanese, Subaru Impreza, Toyota Supra, etc and of course make one more Zündapp but in 4k quality 😅😅😅.
    Have a great day everyone!!!!

      @@TheWaggishAmerican to the better part of my models I use Mr.Hobby sprays, (for brush mr.hobby and Revell), I bought Tamiya for the first time to Polish Light Bomber, due to photos it should be polish chaki, but we couldn't find the most suitable color in spray, so decided to have a grey-brown color.
      Btw, I wanted to ask you what do you use to set decals on model? is that a glue or special substance?
