I remember Will Powers from a 1983 Hit Kissing with Confidence’ featuring Carly Simon. An Album was released but never heard the actual Album. Will Powers was actually a Lady speaking through a special microphone. She’s was also a professional photographer, who was once married to a famous actor.
I listened to this song every single day for one year straight. I am now wealthy beyond my wildest dreams. I was able to resign from my ordinary J.O.B. I am now retired, & living a life of incredible success & overwhelming abundance. Thanks Will Powers… & keep listening!!!

Heyyy Lynn! I'm another 80s child, 12 years old when this came out. I'd watch mesmerized every time it came on MTV -- this video tripped me out so hard. SO quintessentially 80s!!! THANK YOU, LYNN!!!!! I've been trying to remember this song and the artist/band for a couple of decades now. A Reddit user posted this today as my hopes had dwindled to the last embers. 91X (XETRA, Baja California, Mexico) was a new wave (the original alternative rock) in San Diego played this along with the Depeche Mode, Tears For Fears, and such. Perhaps wierd being heavy on the motivational side, it was great occasionally hearing this funky uplifting song and message. Miss this, the station, the great crew there. It was a golden era and little did we know what impact and longevity it would have. As for this song and a couple of the others the station played, it had a lasting impact and it it was a bit weird trying to explain the songs and why it was meaningful while trying to sound like a new-age worshipper. At least it find its way into my personal catalog and rotation and I can pass it on to the grandkids. Also found out Lynn is a photographer, so I am quite stoked to have something to look into as my wife and I are hobbyist photographers as well. Go figure!
My brother and I just got crazy every time we heard this, we recorded it form MTV in a Betamax. The music appeared to us as a brilliant genius every time we played the Betamax video cassette, hundreds of moments for dancing and jumping in our 80´ bedroom. We still love this so much, this bringed to us a very special sense of existence for ever. Thank you!

Oh wow, last week I was listening to an old 2manydjs mix from BBC radio. They did a Nassau Studios retrospective and dropped a bit of knowledge about the history. I was looking for this forever. I heard the chorus in the superbowl commercial. I searched now i found it. I remember hearing it way back in the early 80's. "Make it happen" with 2 faces spinning around. This brought me way back.
I've always been kinda struck at how funk and new wave borrowed from each other, starting in New York in the 80's. I think this is a pretty good example of that; the drum beat sounds a lot like Parliament, Zapp or XClan to me. As far as I can tell, the (really cool) recycling of new wave that's happening right now hasn't picked up on that yet. I remember loving this song when I was hopelessly stuck in my midwestern small town back then as a kid. Thanks for posting.
