Phil doesn't play Richie's music, he puts his own style on solos and makes them different. Heard him live two months ago and he's absolutely in the same league.

I just stumbled upon this. I grew up on Bon Jovi, and all the 80's bands. I have to say that it's a shame Richie isn't in the band anymore. He's such an amazing not only guitarist, but songwriter and singer. It takes a talented guitarist to fill his shoes so props to Phil there...he does sound great. I wont be seeing the band without Richie though. Its just not the same. It wasnt just his playing, its his singing and stage presence as well.

@@jaybonus7072 From what I've seen Phil X is bloody good and technically a better guitarist than Richie Sambora. However, Richie had rock star style, flare and frontman vocals. Two different animals, both very very good.
I also grow up listening to Bing Jovi, and I play guitar and Richie was always my here. Finally in 2012 I bought I tickets for Cardiff concert in 2013, but Richie left the band few month before the concert.
I went to the concert but I would be laying if I said I wasn't very upset and disappointed.
I just want to say this. Always Live in London 95.

Sem falar o seguinte, tocar o que o outro criou é mais fácil, foda é quem cria , a inspiração, tocado por outro não tem o mesmo sentimento, isso na minha opinião.
Existem duas guitarras no solo do phill, provavelmente a segunda esta escondida atras do palco ou pre-gravada

I saw Phil play on the stage in person in 2015 at seoul tour.
He was fantastic.
Always was unexpected encore but his playing makes me cry.
But Richie is SYMBOL of BonJovi.

What's best in this video was Jon's appreciation to Richie's and Phil's talent, the way he closed his eyes and clapped his hands were amazing as if he's saying, " proud of you boy, so proud of you."

Watch Phil's solo on 2019 show at Wembley. It's amazing in my opinion. And I agree with almost everyone, Phil X is excellent and is keeping a high quality to the band, but each one has his own style and Richie created those solos.
I was at Wembley and phil’s solo was amazing! But then Richie’s solo in Glasgow a few years ago was probably better than London 95

Concordo plenamente e a banda sem um solo do Richie Sambora seria como um passarinho sem assas.
Acho que pegaram um dia ruim do Richie e fizeram esse comparativo pra sacanear. Mas nunca se deve esquecer que todos os solo das músicas antigas da banda caíram no colo do novato. Ele não teve esforço criativo algum. Mesmo assim não tem como falar que ele toca mal. Mas expressão era o Richie.

Richie was not only the guitarist. He was the soul mate of Jon. They were living together. They knew the brotherhood. Phil is an amazing guitarist. No one can replace Richie. Phil can replace the guitarist. He is doing this very well

I can play both solos pretty much note for note but it's the emotion that Sambora puts into his playing that can't be matched, plus Sambora was the life and soul of Bon Jovi. Jon looks lost on stage without him

Não tem como comparar, pois Richie Sambora, é o criador dos solos. Com sua saída a banda perdeu não só um inigualável guitarrista, mas também uma voz incrível que fazia duetos com John Bon Jovi. Bon Jovi não é mais a mesma banda.

Phil é um ótimo guitarrista, mas o Richie é e sempre será único. Me tornei fan do Bon Jovi em 2000 aos 12 anos, não pelo vozeirão do Jon Bon Jovi, mas sim pela mágica que o Richie fazia com a guitarra.

Simply put, Richie was and still is a super star and he's a legend. All that and still underrated! I'm not even really a Bon Jovi fan. Playing great solos does take talent but writing great music is quite a different thing. Richie will always be the greatest Bon Jovi guitarist regardless to whom they put on stage. Best wishes to both him and Phil.

Video popped up while I left TH-cam running and I’m not a huge fan, but I listened and have to say while the guitarists are different, I prefer Phil X. He floats across the fretboard in a more fluid fashion. This is purely me listening to the technicality in the way they phrase the solos in THIS video. If you are a big fan of a particular band line up, you’ll always want the originals and Richie has all the emotional history that goes with writing with the band. But man can Phil X play and sound fluid while looking so relaxed and simply FUN with it. That’s his style. The band is lucky to have Phil X as a more than worthy addition to their tours.

You guys do know that Phil is a prolific session guitar player right? He doesn’t need to improve, he is just not Richie. Check out his discography. You’ve heard his play on songs from Tommy Lee to Daughtry. Richie wrote some great music. No need to compare the two, just enjoy.

One great guitarist and one totally underrated and extraordinary - and that’s Ritchie. He has a unique feel where the solos meld into the song and become one. It almost sounds like he’s not using a pick, but his fingers. So smooth, bluesy and soulful. Phil is great, but Ritchie has that “feel” that puts him in the same league as the greats! I consider him to be at LEAST on the top 50 all time best guitarist list.

Richie's better, and i feel bad that he doesn't have room for this in his life for this anymore. Phil's a fan tho, and it fills my heart fills with joy when i hear Phil play. If you want proof that Phil is a RIchie fan, watch a couple specific moments in this video. When Richie is improvising he plays a lick at 1.53, that makes Jon clap for him. When Jon claps for Phil you can actually see Phil remember the Cleveland video and reach for THE SAME LICK in his improvised second solo. I am sure it was a nod to the same video, because the lick doesn't "really" fit with what he was doing until he saw Jon clap. Phil's choice in the middle of his solo was a nod to Richie. Tico and Jon saw it, and Phil knew it, and you can see Tico and Jon smile at it, cause they knew it too. That's a fan. Like you and me.
Good observations
The clap is part of the show. Every show , every solo.
The solos are mapped out. There's room for movement, but the main parts are written, and that's true if you're Phil or Richie. Totally ad libbed solos are usually pretty messy - even if there are some good moments. I think you're seeing something you want to see, no offence.
