Strega have to be the biggest missed opportunity regarding Persona villains. On paper the idea of rival Persona users as deranged religious zealots sounds amazing but the original game did very little to actually flesh them out beyond Takaya's basic motivation and the few scenes with Chidori that really served to build up Junpei's character arc. Really happy to learn about there being additional event scenes with the protagonist interacting with Strega directly so they get more screentime and development
Makes me wonder if they're gonna do something similar to Ikutsuki? His betrayal was kinda outta nowhere and there was very little, if any buildup to it. Like legit 95% of his screen time was him acting like the kinda/sorta but not really leader of SEES and cracking dad jokes. Would love to see this man get the Strega treatment in regards to character development, backstory, motive, etc.
@@toddhowze7398 They mentioned that Reload is going to have multiple side sidestories with characters that didn't originally get social link routes to flesh their arcs outside the main narrative. Given the confirmation that Strega is among those additional sequences I wouldn't be surprised if Ikutsuki is going to get similar treatment, as well as the male members of SEES who didn't originally have SL routes with the main protagonist

Ikutsuki and Strega getting more character development or even the Chidorita treatment where we can even help them would be good. But again, P3 is about acceptance as well and they might have even more motives to fight to their deaths than we think... since we don't know tha tmuch about them based on the OG!
The new remix of Changing Seasons is amazing, it reminds me of the reincarnation version. I’m glad to hear that Tara Platt seems to be back as Elizabeth, looking forward to hearing more of that crazy energy she had in her P3D scenes.

As cool as that would be, I doubt atlus would give them an ai smart enough to knock all of your teammates down at once.
For a story battle, getting stuck in an infinite loop of strega knocking down your teammates leaving you unable to do anything would be terrible gameplay wise

This game really does seem to be addressing a lot of issues with the original. One of Persona 3’s main problems is that the villains kinda suck because they simply don’t get the time they deserve for development. The fact that Strega’s backstory was as underutilized as it was in the original was practically a crime, so I’m excited to see more of them. The stuff they’re adding looks like it’s gonna go a long way towards giving some characters time to shine.
The villains got the time they deserved and you could tell exactly why they were doing what they were doing. They simply didn't spoon fed it to you like they did in P5.

I hope they add more to the Chidori and Junpei relationship, cuz it’s the only romantic relationship (at least from 1 & 3-5) between 2 characters that aren’t the main character and is reciprocated.
I don't know if you can say "a little", the only reason why they aren't considered the worst rivals compared to Adachi, (original) Joker, and Akechi is because people forget they exist.
@@MintJammer Adachi is literally the primary antagonist of that game though, and the Jokers are the primary antagonists for a majority of those games. I don't think it's necessarily fair to compare Strega to them.
Also, not sure I agree with "people forget they exist." Maybe Persona 5 fans that played the series in reverse and had expectations too high? But having grown up playing 2, 3, and 4, I remember Strega leaving an impact on me, with Chidori in particular adding a level of emotional depth and nuance that Akechi and Adachi don't even come close to. And the fact that a party member, Junpei, actually has a subplot involving Chidori also stands out to me, whereas in 4 and 5, only the protagonist gets any interactions with the "rivals."
@@looney1023It felt like Chidori was the only one that got a decent amount of development. I love that she was conflicted because of her feelings for Junpei. Chidori was also the first girl that Junpei didn't directly hit on, it showed that he had an actual interest in her. She is one of my favorite female non-playable characters for a reason. This should definitely be an example of character interaction that they take inspiration from for Persona 6
@@looney1023 I don't know what's with this trickery attempt to gas up 3, they're all opposing path tricksters enabled by the true antagonist. Them not having agency or relevance is exactly my point.

I love that they're fleshing out Strega more. They've always been my favorite villains in the series, but admittedly the game didn't delve too deep into their reasonings besides it being good for business for them. Jin especially was dull, and here he seems the most passionate about his work; and I love the extra bit of reasoning that they oppose sees because the falling of the dark hour would erase their memories of eachother
Glad Strega is getting a bit more development, they felt more like a footnote in the original game.
Hearing Changing Seasons in this beautiful trailer made me feel emotions I havent felt in a long time. I am SO EXCITED FOR THIS GAME DUDEE

This will always be my favorite persona, I always loved the tone contrast. Happy go lucky during the day then when the dark hour hits there is actually stakes and you can feel the fear of the characters.
Or maybe I’m biased because this entry introduced me to the series
I played it on the ps2 last summer, absolutely loved it. I think the mainstream fan base has mostly played p5 and p4. People are unaware bc its an older persona but it just may be the best
As someone who was late to the party and went backwards from 5 to 3.
I think P3 has so much potential and is probably my favorite written of the 3.
As you said, the cast is dead serious during the dark hour and feel much more like a coordinated unit than the other groups.
They can operate without the protagonist, they just thrive with him there.
...The gameplay was just kinda rough for me. I much prefer the P4 & P5 style of controlling the whole team.

I love that the story is taking from the P3 films. Every scene that was adapted for the movies seems to be recreated almost 1:1, and that makes me so happy.
This and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is gonna completely take over February and March for me. The wait is killing me, I can’t wait.

@@Nemesiis-jc7wm True enough, so we have about 27 days with Persona before FF releases, since the developer has said Rebirth has close to 100h of content I want to experience everything without rushing the game. I might just do that now tjat you mention, just enjoy Persona first.

I think we should let P4 go. That and P5 have been milked to no end and P4G was than put on steam and switch so if you want a redoing of it there it is.
It will probably happen but at a much, much later date. P4 graphics did put me off initially, but I gave it a chance. I can't stop playing it now 😭

This trailer addressed the only thing I'd want them to change about 3, and that is giving Strega more depth and more of a presence in the plot. Considering how P4 and P5R had phenomenal human antagonists that were Persona users, it really showed off how underbaked Strega was, so I’m glad they're getting another pass.

Spoiler Warning:
I think one of the cooler aspects of STREGA is the fact that their Personas were awakened artificially which is why they and Shinji take that medicine otherwise their personas go out of control. We never see that concept come back in later games but it’s a unique concept. But I get why as it ultimately ties into the story of the Kirijo family and the setting.
With the new singer, Changing seasons kinda sounds like a Bayonetta song almost...I kinda like it

This trailer is censored. The Japanese version of the trailer has a few scenes with people using guns and Evokers, and they've all been removed from the English version. I hope this doesn't mean the English release of the game has been censored.

I can't see a reason why it would be considering they recently rereleased P3P with no issue. At the end of the day this is still an M rated game with the trailers being freely viewable online. I can see "teenagers shooting themselves in the head" as being a sensitive topic they'd want to avoid showing in ads.
I hope Persona 6 revisits the idea of making a group of rival persona users.

If there's one thing I'm hoping they do with Strega, it's toughen up the battles. I really dug the idea of a rival, chaos-driven group of Persona users, but man the fights were always too simple. Maybe they could give them some sort of random wild ability, as if they have a special power since they can't technically control their abilities?

While the presentation is definitely a step down compared to that fantasy persona they're making and 5, they're really trying to improve on a lot of criticisms the original gets.
- STREGA isn't completely worthless and unmemorable outside being Ken, Junpei, and Shinji's plot devices. Chidori even solos the team
- they aren't ragtag like the investigation team or phantom thieves, having proper armor and communications would be better showing they're backed by a conglomerate.
- Cutscenes aren't zoomed way out to hide the graphics are simple.
All I hope for is Jin and Takuya aren't punks like the original. All I did was do Surt and Thor in like four turns.
