You should have said it more directly: Aurora was raped during her sleep and woke up giving birth (that's the true tale) As she was asleep for a very long time it also reminds necrophilia.
it's made of glass, glass is heavy especially on feet, if she was running that fast on stairs with slippers heavier than her feet it would have slipped through perfectly, thats why there are literally almost no glass footwear as of now since 1 it's going to be hard to walk on especially because it has heels 2 it can easily break or wear down 3 what's the point of wearing it unless you're going to a real fancy place because not everyone wants to see your feet.
In the original, she stayed 3 nights at the ball, and to stop Cinderella from running away, the prince smeared tar on the stairs, so she would stick, and her shoe got stuck
were the original stories made before the disney versions? how do you take such horrible and gruesome stories and turn them into these lovely fairytales haha
I've known the original stories since I was like 3 or 4 years old. My parents read them to me and later we read them at school. Those soft hearted Disney stories don't teach a child anything.
I never read the original story, but I'm pretty sure that for the spell, the consequence of the prince not marrying her but someone else is turning into sea foam.
A.R.M.Y Alnaggar it was the curse. If she couldn't get the Prince to love her, she would turn into sea foam out of pure distress. It was a metaphor for H.C Andersen's love life, which was quite sad.
soulless gothic It's just that the "european version" is the original... Plus the stories of some like Pocahontas or Mulan were real facts before becoming Disney movies.
it's made of glass and glass is heavy especially on feet, also she was most probably sweaty from being nervous and running that it slipped off perfectly, idk why the other one didn't fall off though
MultiSoftballgirl21 The original stories were for children too. They just didn't shield kids from the realities of life the way we do now. These were morality tales, told to children to impress upon them social mores of the time.
The original Beauty and the beast was written as a wedding gift to a young woman who truly fell in love with a young man who was part of the... Spanish? Cort who had hypertrichosis, he was beloved for his vast knowledge of literature and other arts. They had many children (sad part) most who had hypertrichosis where given as gifts to other royal families as gifts. (To be fair that did make them part of the Royal Court and afford them luxuries and education not enjoyed by most in that area)
PlotagonThugDuck I hated into the woods with all my heart XD and Disney is VERY iffy to me. What happened to poor old DreamWorks!? XD they are always forgotten
I read the real versions before I watched the disney movies, so I knew these, but I'm excited to read through the comments later to see how people react
On Hercules: He was also later deified (turned basically into a god) and immortalized in the stars. Also he was a half-god, not a demoted child of Hera and Zeus.
It really did'nt ruined my childhood I was really amazed by it Thinking there is a side of stories from brother grimm and others I want to get the books and read it in the future💕
I just think it's funny that in Germany they tell you the real tales as a child, I think most of the children here have heard the tales of the Brothers Grimm or own a copy of them
There was a show I watched growing up that was on HBO called Happily Ever After and I always thought it was weird but little did I know that those were SUPER close to the original stories. No wonder child me thought they were weird.😂😂
I knew the real Cinderella story since I was 5, it was written in this Kid's Story's and it explicitly explains how they cut off the toes and heel and they had to wear bandages to conceal the blood before trying to the shoes. Safe to say that I had horrific nightmares for years
I love how it said "ruined your childhood"...but here in Germany I actually grew up with the books AND the movies, so even as a child I knew about Cinderella (the story of Aschenputtel) and the scratched out eyes of Rapunzel's prince. There are even more fairytales that haven't been made into Disney movies and I hope they will do so eventually
this topic has been done by you guys in the past as well as many other youtubers, online magazines, heck, a simple tumblr or reddit search can give you this much.
is there actual movie version of the original story or is it just book , i dont like to read but i would gladly watch if their movie even if its in german language
In Norway, the brothers Grimm stories were the ones that we grew up with, I was shocked when I saw the Disney versions because I spent my childhood reading the brother Grimms books
ariel felt like she walked on broken glass, not knives; the eyes of the step sisters are pecked out by pigeons, not sparrows; the sleeping beauty sent her two twins to the king and the evil queen supposedly had the cook "cook" the children (which later turns out to be false) and the king after finding this out, orders her to be burned. Just a little more detail :)
The weird thing is... my aunt is a pre-k teacher and she shows a cartoon princess show to her class which is all the Disney princesses but a different story and most of these are how the story’s are told
For field trips at my schools we visit the Jamestown settlement (has been done every year) because we are so close to it. Each time we go there are new artifacts that they’ve dug up and we get to see them all. I find this really intriguing and to this dayPocahontas is my favorite Disney movie because I see all the historical faults and love correcting them 😂
Also died from “unknown causes”? Pocahontas died from a disease that she got when she went to go visit the man she married (John Rolfe)’s family in England. She contracted a disease because her body wasn’t used to the air there. Before she could return to her home (and to her father Chief Powhatan) she died. So “unknown causes” is a lie. It’s actually a well known cause.
Mufasa's name meant king while Scar's name was originally Takka meaning Trash or Garbage. Their parents named the eldest King and the younger Garbage. That's part of the reason the sibling feud is so strong
Is it sad that at least half of these "gruesome" stories I read as a child in my fairytale books, and I didn't think that there was anything wrong with them
If they cut pieces of their feet off why did he CONTINUE to see if it fits?!?!?!? Like "OOH, you cut off a segment of your foot. I'm still going to let you try on the glass slipper because I still don't know if it was you at the ball, because my bride would cut her foot to prove her foot fits."
I've read the Grimm Fairytales, and I was shocked at the negative outcomes of many of the stories. They're cold and brutal and unforgiving. And violent.
I love the Disney versions but the original stories will always be det best. I had them read to me as a child, and this video may focus on the horror and sadness in them, but the moral behind the originals are often a lot better than what Disney movies tell. I live in Denmark so Hans Christian Andersens stories will always be the ones closest to my heart, and he was truly a great fairytale writer.
btw Pinocchio has an happy ending, he escapes the hanghing because he's made of wood so he can't be choken. After a number of adventures he finally become human.
The part in the original Pinocchio where he gets hung from a tree is not even halfway through the book. You (spoiler alert) can't kill a wooden puppet by hanging them from a tree. The book does have a totally happy ending where Pinocchio becomes a real boy. Sure, it's a heck of a lot darker than the movie, but it isn't THAT dark.
Cinderella has a Vietnamese version called "Tam Cam". "Tam" is Cinderella and "Cam" is the stepsister. In the end of the story, Cam asked Tam:" how can you be beautiful like that?" Tam answer "Jump into boiled water". Then, Cam trusted her sister and jumped into the boiled water, so she died.Tam used Cam's body to make the fish sauce and gave her stepmother-Cam's mother to eat. I think this version is very creepy.. P/s: I'm Vietnamese so I'm sorry if I had the grammar mistakes
Not at all - many of us read the original versions and were surprised at the Disney renditions. Doesn't stop us from liking both versions for different reasons! Happy New Year :)
You should have said it more directly: Aurora was raped during her sleep and woke up giving birth (that's the true tale)
As she was asleep for a very long time it also reminds necrophilia.
Ju you mean aurora?
MultiSoftballgirl21 Yes thank you aha I wrote the comment while the video was talking about Belle ;)
Ju that was aurora.
yep...
BTS and NCT Trash [Yuta's Smile] I changed my comment so that no one else takes time to say the same thing aha
Am I the only one who thought it was strange that Cinderella was the only one with that shoe size out of the whole town??
Skittles lmao
Me too.
Skittles I used to think the same thing since I was a child
It’s said she was a size 4......
her size is 4 and a half so thats pretty small
If Cinderella’s shoe fit perfectly, tHeN wHy DiD iT fAlL oFf?!!
*тσρ тєи qυєѕтισиѕ ѕ¢ιєи¢є ѕтιℓℓ ¢αи'т αиѕωєя*
meow meow sweaty feet from running?? its glass after all... 😂😅😅

In the original, she stayed 3 nights at the ball, and to stop Cinderella from running away, the prince smeared tar on the stairs, so she would stick, and her shoe got stuck
Because her feet got sweaty from running away from the prince, so since it was made of glass, it slipped away easily.😅
does anyone else wonder how the glass slipper didn’t shatter or crack throughout the movie?
plexiglass
Subscriber that’s a possibility
intergalactic pancake or the fact that that shoe could fit more people. Cinderella couldn’t be the only one in the entire village with that feet size.
It did but Cinderella provides the other shoe and proved that she was the one who danced with the prince
It was made magically to fit her foot so i guess its exact of maybe she just has the worlds smallest feet
I always loved the original stories they were so awesome and gory.
were the original stories made before the disney versions? how do you take such horrible and gruesome stories and turn them into these lovely fairytales haha
Ikr? I wanna read the originals
Kelsye Jordan SAME!!!!
Celeste Gonzalez same here, I liked the Disney versions but the actual originals will always be my favorites
+jonny rose yes they were made way before the Disney versions, think the 19th century and beyond that as well
That awkward moment when you already knew the original stories
Anna-Maria Tolentino lol same
How is that an awkward moment exactly ?
Yea nothing surprised me.
I've known the original stories for about...two years now
I've known the original stories since I was like 3 or 4 years old. My parents read them to me and later we read them at school. Those soft hearted Disney stories don't teach a child anything.
But y'all have done this video twice already so what's up Buzzfeed?
I feel like it happen even more than twice
it's called easy money
just reorder the list and put a new title
and theyve done it more than twice..
Jiji That's true
Jiji they have ran out of ideas
Michelle Platti
would love to see a tv series of the true versions of these tales
Yasmine E. Pang Have you seen the movie Into The Woods, movie tells the real story behind all the original movies of disney
I saw it when it came out and I loved it! I was just hoping for a TV series that could include many more of the other original fairy tales.
Try reading the books. Though it might be a challenge for you.
The fairytaler has short animations of original fairytales. I didn't grow up with Disney
Brothers Grimm has a TV series
Do people really not know this already???
Apparently.
Sarah Coletti they had one thing wrong thou bc apparently to native Americans Pocahontas was only 12 and John was 21
It's the same as someone calling out spoilers eventhough that movie is a decade old, there's always someone out there who doesn't know yet.
I mean...it’s not really a common sense typa thing to know
Kamila South how old are you?
Am I the only one who had hard time reading details because it changes too fast??
Tbh, i like the original stories because it makes more sense than the disney versions and the originals have more action, are more gory
Ariela Genao The only thing that doesn't make sense is why the hell did Ariel turn into foam
I never read the original story, but I'm pretty sure that for the spell, the consequence of the prince not marrying her but someone else is turning into sea foam.
A.R.M.Y Alnaggar actually her and the prince turned to sea foam. Seems like BuzzFeed did get this on Right
There's a polish movie titled, The Lure. I think it's based on the original little mermaid story, a bit gory and nudity involved, also singing.
A.R.M.Y Alnaggar it was the curse. If she couldn't get the Prince to love her, she would turn into sea foam out of pure distress.
It was a metaphor for H.C Andersen's love life, which was quite sad.
I watch mattpat(film theory) so i have no childhood

Sleepy Panda 5 or 6?
Sleepy Panda 2?
3. No 4.
Why horrifying? Here in Germany it's totally normal to read the original stories to your kids. My parents did it too.
Same
Yup absolutely normal for me too (also Germany)
I have the original and the Disney book and movie. I like the Disney one because Ariel was going to be Ursulas mindless slave.
This isnt the horryfiying trufh of disney movies its the horryfiying truth of origin of disney story's
If Cinderella's shoe fit perfectly why did it fall off??
Ms. Random cartoon logic man.....😐😑😕
Because the prince originally lets the stairs be painted with tar/pitch to trick her into finally staying.
it's made of glass and glass is heavy especially on feet, also she was most probably sweaty from being nervous and running that it slipped off perfectly, idk why the other one didn't fall off though
It’s almost like the disney adaptation is for children.
What a strange concept, I know.
MultiSoftballgirl21 The original stories were for children too. They just didn't shield kids from the realities of life the way we do now. These were morality tales, told to children to impress upon them social mores of the time.

Happy New Year to you too 😊
Same to you as well!😁
If you really think about it....
Disney is pretty much the 4Kids of cinema.
Also I realized that Into The Woods takes the real stories of the famous Disney ones and put them in big giant awesome movie! :D
Yup basically
That's the point
PlotagonThugDuck I hated into the woods with all my heart XD and Disney is VERY iffy to me. What happened to poor old DreamWorks!? XD they are always forgotten
Hahaha agreed!
I read the real versions before I watched the disney movies, so I knew these, but I'm excited to read through the comments later to see how people react
Me too. I thought people knew this tho
On Hercules: He was also later deified (turned basically into a god) and immortalized in the stars. Also he was a half-god, not a demoted child of Hera and Zeus.

His father always did other girls
The original tales by the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen are my favourite! Grew up reading them, they're amazing, love fairytales!
It really did'nt ruined my childhood

Thinking there is a side of stories from brother grimm and others
I want to get the books and read it in the future💕

*ARE WE NOT ALLOWED TO JUST ENJOY A BEAUTIFUL MOVIE??*

Safe to say that I had horrific nightmares for years
Could you please do “best friends read each other’s old diary’s “
this is probably the most research Buzzfeed has done, and I'm finally proud of them for doing so.
Pinocchio was a little thug lol
It takes a lot to ruin my childhood. I grew up watching Disney as a child, and grew up knowing the original works that these movies were based off of.
Don’t worry, I’ve already gotten Disney ruined for me from watching Film Theory 😒
I actually love how with every Disney one the tone of writing is filled with skepticism almost
EXPOOOSED!!!!!!!! XD
Hey
That moment when the original stories where your bed time stories as a child.
A horrifying truth, I don't really like Disney movies
Jamie Zhu 😲
MLP-Violet-Star it'd not that uncommon... I don't really like Disney movies either

There goes my childhood
Pingo PAn right out the window...💨
But not 4 me I already knew them all...
I'm 12 and I love the original tales. They're so dark and just speak to my soul.
Is this a reupload?
Childhood ruined? Not really, more like becoming more interesting
Well, that shocked me enough to see these stories in a new way 😩😕
this topic has been done by you guys in the past as well as many other youtubers, online magazines, heck, a simple tumblr or reddit search can give you this much.
I like the Grimm version way better
I am surprised that once I read Rapunzel's actual story in a book about the prince becoming blind and thought it was fake.
Disney is pretty spooky
the legend of Cinderella actually dates back over 2500 years and has more than 500 versions world wide
Childhood in Germany haha I grew up with the Grimm‘s versions just as everyone here
is there actual movie version of the original story or is it just book , i dont like to read but i would gladly watch if their movie even if its in german language
there are a lot of movies i think, but i'm afraid they are all quite old and can't be compared to the Quality of the Disney versions
Ursula's face at 3:37 looks like she's giving birth 🤰 😂😂😂
My childhood was already ruined
Until i found this channel 3 years ago 😉👌
In Norway, the brothers Grimm stories were the ones that we grew up with, I was shocked when I saw the Disney versions because I spent my childhood reading the brother Grimms books
Is Bogo Self Aware of his existence?

Woah.......😮😮😮damn Disney...
Now I want to read the full true stories to all these movies. This didn’t ruin my childhood, just gave me a different perspective

It is a Disney movie!

Is it sad that at least half of these "gruesome" stories I read as a child in my fairytale books, and I didn't think that there was anything wrong with them
I need attention
The sleeping beauty one was so disturbing seeing as though she was my favorite princess

So what’s your favorite Disney character?
Me: dancing spoon #7 from beauty and the beast
If they cut pieces of their feet off why did he CONTINUE to see if it fits?!?!?!?
Like "OOH, you cut off a segment of your foot. I'm still going to let you try on the glass slipper because I still don't know if it was you at the ball, because my bride would cut her foot to prove her foot fits."
Anyone noticed the sleeping beauty part if you look left up corner it says "Sleeing Beauty"
I've read the Grimm Fairytales, and I was shocked at the negative outcomes of many of the stories. They're cold and brutal and unforgiving. And violent.
"PHYSICAL BEAUTY DOES MATTER IF YOU'RE GOING TO LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER" 😟

Cinderella has a Vietnamese version called "Tam Cam". "Tam" is Cinderella and "Cam" is the stepsister. In the end of the story, Cam asked Tam:" how can you be beautiful like that?" Not at all - many of us read the original versions and were surprised at the Disney renditions. Doesn't stop us from liking both versions for different reasons! Happy New Year :)
During the "Sleeping Beauty" segment, I couldn't help but pause at the all inspiring "sleeing beauty". Lol
Some parts of the story has been shown in the movie "into the woods" like cinderella, repunzel...etc...
*Goodbye, Childhood.*
In the Netherlands a Grimm version of a tale is one time a week on tv so my childhood was already ruined.
When my mom told me about the Grimm Brothers story of all of the princesses I did not sleep for days
