Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back is the second game of the Crash Bandicoot ( tasvideos.org/GameGroups/25 ) series developed by Naughty Dog. The story takes place immediately after the events of the previous game. It features similar gameplay to the other two games in the series.
This run from SuPeRbOoMfAn ( tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/S... ) collects all Crystals and Gems from 27 levels and defeats all five bosses before destroying the Cortex Vortex with N. Brio's help as fast as possible without abusing any major glitches. - เกม
Watching bored speedrunners pass time during the Roo segments is such a tradition for C2 speedruns, I love watching it
I never knew that was possible
The amount of skill they have but they also do that
its a tas not a human. it's programed by a human to have frame perfect inputs, but a human is not playing it live.
@@UGS4697 Even the TAS creator cannot resist the traditional messing-about. :D
I've replayed this game so many times and I never once thought of killing myself after getting the no boxes gem. That's actually smart
Noo don't kill urself after getting the gem box your so sexy haha
@@Needformadness2 No boxes gem (blue gem)
@@jere.nurkka i know man, i was jjoking
You get gems for hitting no boxes???
@@mattvillegas6355 There is only one blue gem
9:43
Boulder: "Hey what the hell, Crash. Wait!"
Crash: "Aight, but smash those Nitros for me."
Boulder: 👀
The first 35 seconds legit bring back so many good memories, the nostalgia is unreal
47:56 That collateral crate damage was amazing...
So many words to describe how I love this run
One of which is "the."
@@tails183 It's one of the runs of all time.
30:02-30:30 THE BEST PAAAAART!!
finaly the TAS run i've been waiting
It's like God mode all the way for crash. I didn't know TAS would make him that fast.
This is an unreal tas man, pure entertainment, respect.
I hope you considering 100% Tas of CTR or Crash Bash next, because no one has ever achieved that SuPeRbOoMfAn, only speedruns.
101% and 200%
Someone already did a TAS for CTR. Look it up.
@@Trimint123 Yeah ANY% not that there is much difference in CTR it's just going around tracks anyway.
Ugh, a Crash Bash TAS? God, just playing that game qualifies you for psychological counseling. The AI was CRUEL.
@@eleronpfoutz7823 I actually played that game pretty hard when I was younger with my brother. Ngl, it was pretty entertaining for a long while. It wasn't until after beating the initial campaign together is when the AI went from a 6 to an 11 in difficulty.
But playing the stages with my brother was good times after.
30:24 that's fkn insane.
Lost it when I saw that.
OMG, he just slide over the last crate loooool
holy shit I’ve been waiting on this one for a long time , huge tas
Omg, i've waited a long time for this tas!
Already watched it when it was first uploaded, but gotta watch it again!
37:06 dancing mid-air is hillarious
I was imagining this run before the video came out, and it turned out to be really amazing and excellent for getting 100% on this game! I love this run so much! And amazing glitches including the Warp Room 5 levels like Rock It, Spaced Out, Piston It Away, and Pack Attack.
In spaced out, even if he was small crash he didn't die😮
Finally! Thanks SuPeRbOoMfAn. I've been waiting for this for almost a decade, since I discovered TAS.
Superboomfan and tas same person?
@@CJMobile-re1sq Superboomfan is the dude who made this video. TAS stands for Tool-Assisted Speedrun.
Now all we need is a crash 1 100% tas and we'll have the full trilogy!
57:09 It looks like the death of a GOD.
Cortex be like it's crazier than I thought
I really liked it, I've been waiting for a video like this for a long time.
51:55 is absolutely amazing cant believe what I see
tool asissted so what would you expect?
1 up jumpscare
The way crash can break every box in one section in a fraction of a second is just amazing to me
When it got the red gem on the second level by jumping for it I felt like hours of my childhood trying to do that were just invalidated LOL
And the fact that boom's new record without tas is just 5 minutes from this perfect TAS is absolutely wild. It's so hard to be consistently perfect in this game
42:06 Getting the Aku-Aku invincibility was always so damn epic.
the final section of Plant Food was simply CRAZY!
5:32 not gonna lie that dodge was dope 👌
sonic has been real quiet since this came out
3:35 that's how it's meant to be done.
Actually insane, also makes Crash as a character seem like a generally more impressive character with those abilities.
Crash at full potential!
Man, you make this game look so easy! Awesome run 😎
God dammit yes! So happy to see this game get the TAS treatment!
This is so damn satisfying.
The, uh, "jetpack" levels had me in stitches. Love it.
Nobody can do this same so clean i swear you are the best number 1 skilled man 👍
My new favourite tas video
IT'S HERE!
54:05 and so my dream became reality
38:38 super nitro avoidance skills
Interesting to see Boom, a Smash 64 god player to work on tas videos.
The world is so small.
It's funny.
I actually knew some of these strats when I was a kid, and I'm pretty sure I didn't look for them online.
Man I love Crash 2, seeing it completely wrecked with TAS strats fills my heart with joy
I'm also glad it's a glitchless run in which we don't farm kills for unlocking everything. This is much more entertaining
Uhhh he broke TNT's without getting damaged and walked out of bounds several times. Pretty sure those are glitches
@@scantyer Dude you ain't seen Crash 2 glitched cathegory.
You can get crystals and gems from regular enemies, up to 200% game progress, not obtainable through normal means.
You can skip every level and turn Crash 2 in a boss rush.
Although that isn't as amusing as watching every level imo, it's just bounce and enemy respawn farming 'til you get just enough to beat the game.
If I am not mistaken the bouncing box item glitch is so broken that it became a category of his own, if you see the speedrun foruns. This category here is probably a 100% glitched restricted (it definitly contains some glitches, like the box count trickery in diggin in and the trigger skips in the jetpack levels) while the bouncing box is probably the True 100% or something like that
@@yuristremel It's actually 200% because game actually has 64 crystals and 64 gems. It will say 64/25 crystals if you get them with the glitch.
I thought this was real till I search TAS thing
but it's still amazing to watch this
It's like watching Crash full capabilities
57:08 Crash just got super-cooked by 4 lasers at once! Yikes!
Me quedo loco 😲😲😲, increíble este speedrun de Crash Bandicoot 2.
I didn't know Boom did stuff like this. Always cool to see the other fruits of labor of skilled Smash players
I want to know who this TAS guy is and why they're so good at speedruning
Yes? friend
They're just too good
He's beaten so many records, the speedrun committee just omits them and uses 2nd place.
@@daveed2589 Is he also the same guy that was the best Smash 64 player for a long time?
It wouldn't be crash without his signature spin attack...
It would just be "Bandicoot."
When your sister really needs that battery
Bro, the ball not even get close to him in 9:12.
Congrats for the run man!
Шедееееевр :о
Бальзам для глаз :)
Crash Bandicoot 2 but Crash has a doctors appointment in an hour
When a bandicoot is faster than a hedgehog.
Well, Crash's prototype WAS called the "Sonic's ass project"
@@gadget8637 Wow XD
Damn SBF makes Tas' too? Actual factual god gamer
Loved playing these in the early 2000’s
TAS Crash is just rocking the craziest pair of Heelys in the world.
Also, actually laughed out loud when they managed to drown him... in solid ice.
U made crash look like a cocaine sonic character xD
This is absolutely incredible, fabulous work to the runner!
It's a computer
@@StuD44 Yep! The TAS is very well programmed. The runner did an excellent job creating it.
The PlayStation 1 startup!!
That cold hard crash death segment is nuts. 3 masks? Nope. Let’s just get the gem at the same time we’ll break the box
insane moves
It isn't Any% But It's 100% OMG in 1 hour
I AM SHOOK!!
How does Aku Aku keep up with his spinny son?
Sheesh, he's faster than Sonic, sometimes the camera can't catch up for a second xD
Caraca o maluco é monstro hein... brabo demais!
43:33 nice
This is incredible. You are a master
@@edocchi5238 TAS?
@@edocchi5238 What is a tool-assisted speed run?
@@edocchi5238 Firstly, I DID Google it and the answers were very unclear. Secondly, I'm not a tech guy or even a gamer for that matter and so I don't know how these things work. As far as I could gather, it involves programming the computer to play the game instead of you somehow???? I was hoping for a clearer answer when I asked.
Maybe instead of being rude and insulting you could have done that.
@@danashton5265 TAS methods vary from game to game. Usually, it involves recording gameplay inputs using an emulator to slow down the game frame by frame and using save states to replay sections (hence the re-record counter).
@@YungCuzz So it basically involves playing the game in different save parts where you've slowed the game down to the greatest point of accuracy?? So you're actually using many save files as a composite ??
Slide and spin to win!
That's how I imagine crash in the lore
21:14 My dude just drowned in ice
I have beaten the game 100% multiple times in a short period matter fact I feel I am above average but watching these guys (speed runners ) complete a game makes me feel like quitting gaming life all together 😅 (not literally , symbolically ) definitely admired their craft absolute fucking beast .
That snow biz gem route was actually insane
PS1 boot up always hits that GOOD dopamine
the roo segment cracked me tf up
I wonder how he will handle the jetpa...
Oh.
OH.
More slides than in a Mega Man 3 TAS. I'm surprised Crash's pants didn't catch fire during this run
Pack Attack blew my mind
One word...
S P E E N
20:45 jump was magnificent
Oh my God. This is crazy
Looks down to phone at 52:04
Looks up, Crash is invisible
Cue in a very confused "wtf just happened"
What the hell was that technique anyway?
@@toothbrush3996 Basically, Crash was hit by the shirking ray in a way that the visual animation of the death was triggered, but the damage register wasn't. This is a frame perfect shenanigan.
Gotta go fast!
On the Sewer levels, I'm like, "Is this Crash, or Sonic?!"
Crystals, of course!
Whoa this is intense. Plant Food is probably the highlight for me (so far), the crystal is grey for some reason and skipping the last surfboard section by jumping on the ramps. Who knew you could even do that?
After watching the Crash 3 tas run again I think Crash runs slightly smoother in this game.
Crash bandicoot, two crash slides back
So this is what he's doing after Panda dropped Smash 64 from their lineup?
I have tried and died like 1000+ times to that plant food jetboard skip trying that to prove it's possible, this brings peace to my soul knowing that I wasn't completely mad in thinking so.
An incredibly entertaining video, thank you.
EDIT: Is there an explanation for luring Tiny to jump on a safe platform in phase 1 and 2 while there were already some falling platforms present? It looks like it could be faster but I'm sure there's a reason for why it's like this.
My guess is that it isn't faster to lure him instantly than what the tas does in this video due to a sort of framerule system, like in super mario
I think for phase 1 and 2 the animation of coming back up is faster if you dont let him fall immediately, but I might be wrong.
Yeah that jetboard skip can be done by humans it's just way too hard to do with any kind of consistently so it's not used
slide, spin

"Taz" bandicoot 🌪
44:54 How did you get the gem while missing this one box on top the jump pad?
He got a point
When you die after leaving the bonus stage before the box processing finishes, the game takes you back to the last checkpoint you hit before entering bonus and the boxes between that checkpoint and the bonus stage become available again (so, you can collect them twice).
@@oinb Sounds believable, but can you back it up with a source? I googled a bit and couldn't find this exact detail
@@KingOFtheGamezz search for box duplication crash 2 and you'll find something.
@@KingOFtheGamezz It's called duping... It's in the normal run as well. It's a fairly common strat in the level Cold Hard Crash shown in 47:42 , but in the TAS run it is faster not to dupe I guess. You can check the last 20 WR runs it is always there. The Digging it in dupe shown in your timestamp is less common as it is more risky and harder to pull off and can set you back alot of time, I would say around 30 secs or more.
Omg chill
47:53 this man was so good at this part I stayed to get all boxes 3 hours
52:19 For this skip, we have Crash shrink between the molecules for a death abuse.
1:47 WAT
9:43 Wouldn't it be faster to use a mask here instead of somewhere else? That's 8 seconds wasted waiting for that boulder
14:44 Another 7 seconds waiting for boulder?
17:17 IIRC the PAL version lets you hit all 5 of the purple boxes with 1 bodyslam. Probably have a good reason for using NSTC, I just don't know for sure.
30:00-30:30 I'm going to assume you can't get the box gem without dying first? Though going through that boardless twice was awesome.
52:02 WAT
1:00:20 Nice
The chase levels remove your masks.
Chase sequences removes your mask, even that one which has a bonus segment, when you continue it you will lose your masks.
PAL version is being used. You can see that at Ruination's Bonus with the 4x4 boxes being slammed in a single go.
You are correct about the bodyslam being larger. However, it's 4 boxes in length, not 5 like you thought.
Superboomfan, the smash64 player??
Indeed, he is also a speedrunner
It's been almost 2 decades since I last played this game, so I don't remember much of it, but why does he suddenly just teleport out of the levels? Warp Zone?
Although veeeeeerrry unlikely, lets hope this doesn't get copyright claimed :|
WAIT THAT SPIN ON THE TEXT, that is DAMN creative!
for everyone: Cold Hard Crash!
for TAS Speedruners: COLD EASY CRASH!
