Yes sir, luckily for me I was local! And yes, it ran me a couple of hundreds dollars but we must invest back into the business to continue on. Bless up Mr Geezer 🙌
Costly repairs will always throw a wrench in our plans but as you guys both said putting money back into our business is necessary. On my last trip up top from Texas my throttle body went out right at the Delaware Water Gap in PA. Luckily the mechanic I was able to limp to charged me fairly on labor and got me back on the road in two hours… Stay Safe Drivers Shout out both of you Tony and Gig Geezer
I know its a grey area with DOT and MC requirement for driving "local", but don't you drive between NJ and NY and cross state lines technically? I'm sure many drivers live very close to a state border so hoping that rule (or DOT cops) isn't too strict about it. Obviously if you drive across 2+ states then you 100% need it.
Mr. Ruiz, New subscriber here. I live in an area with longer than normal winters and far above the national average for snowfall. Do you think the Chevy Express AWD would be a good choice? I know they do well as passenger vans but how about with a cargo load?
Always good information love your education that you teach. I have one queshouldn't when you have a subcontractor do you have to pay workers Compensation
Always appreciate the support brother! 🙌 you can, it’s is not required to have it. It’s good in case of a work injury. Nothing good training can avoid.
As you indicated, one needs no authority if they aren’t crossing state lines; But aren’t you moving from NJ into NY and then back into NJ with your early morning contract ??
Hey Tony, I had a DUI 3 years ago and had my license revoked. Now everything is good and I have my license back. Don't have any other problems or crimes, do you think that dispatchers will care about this if im trying to join a company as a contractor?
You mentioned to find out if the carrier you decide to work with, will allow hiring another driver, Im a bit confused, I thought you didn’t need your own Authority as carrier to get work?
@Tony.Ruiz08 I know, but what confused me, is when you said if ,anyone planned on hiring a driver should check with the carrier first. Which carrier were you referring to?
Are you leased onto a carrier running under their Authority, then I understand what you meant by checking with the carrier first to see if they allow you to hire a driver. But is it necessary if you don't have your Authority or Dot to hire someone, you should only have to add the driver to your commercial insurance correct? Hope it makes sense on what I'm trying to say
That’s the correct way to go about it. Understand your local market first. This might help, th-cam.com/video/uZnscpXtlwo/w-d-xo.html Let me know if you have any questions brother! It’s a lot of opportunities here in jersey
@@Tony.Ruiz08 great brother i’m on indeed but only see driver contracts no independent owner operator, what are the correct key words to put? would i need my dot number and llc
Depends 50/50 on who you work with, although you can do everything else, establish the business, secure some work and hire a driver with a clean record 😉 just gotta do some research and play your way around it.
@@Tony.Ruiz08 thanks bro. I’d figured I can still do it I just know my insurance is gonna be a lot higher. Thank you for responding man, I’ve reached out to a lot of people on YT and you’re the only one to respond. Much respect bro
I had commercial with progressive. They were the cheapest I could get and that was over 1k a month. I know a few who pay about 900 a month. As he said, it varies from person to person and company to company.
@Tony.Ruiz08 Do you 1099 or w2 your employees, I plan on getting a California llc, could you give me some advice, just wanna make sure to do this correctly, also you mentioned to see if the companies that I get contracts or loads from allow me to have a driver, how should I find this out?
Bro you could be making so much more money if u just saved and got a semi or box truck and got authority and just retire yourself why do this little work for this much effort when u could do the big work and get more money

Wheel hub replacement? Yeah, mine famously went out on me 90 minutes from a pick-up location, costing me a LOT of lost money earned that day.

How do I get local contact nj ny
As you indicated, one needs no authority if they aren’t crossing state lines; But aren’t you moving from NJ into NY and then back into NJ with your early morning contract ??
That’s correct. Im in the TriState Area so no need. The TriState is NY, NJ & MA. So if you’re working within those states, it’s considered local.

I see....
Noted.
Great video bro. Is the 1M for general liability? Did you have to get auto insurance as well.
Yes sir! General liability! 1mil / 100k cargo
3:30am?!?!🤯
Is that the trick? Fk 5:20am is barely doable for me😂
Haha it’s not a trick but it takes mad discipline to do it. after a while you get used to it tho. Hardest part of my day is waking up.
Great video brother

I want to sub contract ny driver. Where do i find carriers that lets me do this ? I am also from jersey and want to stay local.
Look I’m on indeed. Make sure to use key words that are cargo van related such as “owner operator cargo van” or “cargo van courier”
Hey Tony, I had a DUI 3 years ago and had my license revoked. Now everything is good and I have my license back. Don't have any other problems or crimes, do you think that dispatchers will care about this if im trying to join a company as a contractor?
50/50 some will care, some won’t. I’d still give it a try.
What is your advice on starting a business of this substitute new Van or use Van?
Used van. Just gotta make sure it’s a good one. I made 96k with my 5k van.
So you being from Jersey you don’t need the dot to come into NY and vise versa?
Hey bro where do you get contracts? Where did you go first to try to get one did u just call or go in person to local places?
I use indeed. Apply, call, show up in person.
Which vehicle will be more reliable and good for local deliveries Nissan sv or the ford transit connect
Both are great vehicles but I can speak more on the ford. Great starter van!

Yes sir. I load and unload my cargo van. But you don’t always gotta touch freight, if they are palletized most likely no.
I also live in jersey and plan on getting van but I wanna find contracts before doin so. How did u find yours ?
