    I’ve been a motorcycle enthusiast, owner of dozens of bikes and done my own maintenance/repairs for over 50+ years. Just want to congratulate you on tackling a pretty involved service item never done before and describing steps is a way easily understood for others. You’re a natural mechanic, well done.

    I was able to change my coolant on my 2004 Ninja 250r with the help of your video. Took several hours but saved $$$. Thanks for the vid! Got my bike to start!

    awesome vid!. I was changing my coolant today cuz it was low. I have the new gen 250's and it was almost the same as mines except that my coolant bottle is located on the right side. everything else was the same. I followed all your instructions and flushing out my coolant was a breeze. thank you!

    That top hose on the coolant reservoir, is it just a vent or does it go on something?

    So helpfull. I have just did the coolant change and your tutorial was great. I have got a ninja 250r 2008 and the process is the same, only diferent thing is antifreeze deposit and radiator cap is on the right side. I turned on bike and let it get all antifreeze into the system then i full radiator again.I also did the 10-15 mins warm up, for taking out air. I have seen in other videos for a complete clean you need to fill and drain twice with destiled water and one more with antifreeze.

    So clean, it looks like new. I am in the market for an ex250. I found one with overheating problems (and possible burnt pistons). Wondering if it is worth taking that project on

    In regards to the air bubbles, you can get rid of them by running the bike with the cap off for a bit or just tap the radiator and the coolant lines.

      Pretty sure it's the same stuff just brand names
      I could be wrong but I bet they would be so similar the differences would be negligible

    Thanks, great tutorial! And as far as getting the air out of the cooling system, the overflow tank does that for you:)
    On older 'closed' systems that was required,though. :)

    Great video. I need to do this to my Ninja 250 this spring and it was super-helpful. I read somewhere that when emptying the coolant, and then again to get air bubbles out after refilling it, it's a good idea to gently rock the bike from side to side a few times. Just throwing that out there...anybody more knowledgeable than me, feel free to correct me on this.

    50/50 blending when it comes to coolant means 50% coolant and 50% antifreeze which is also clearly printed on the bottle. Unless you ride during the winter, your diluting the effects of 100% coolant and rendering your cooling system less effective. This should still work for you but its better to keep your bike as cool as possible. Your parts last longer.

    • @imissyouboys3772
      @imissyouboys3772 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nate Sand coolant is antifreeze. You meant "50/50 is 50% water and 50% antifreeze/coolant"... They're the same thing^

    Bottled water would be fine. Heck, any water is fine, water is water for coplant systems (if clean yes), the only difference between water and antifreeze is that hey, the antifreeze, doesnt freeze and helps prevent rist a tad. Some specific antifreezes are formulated anti corrosive too but thats it. Now, do you want to run water all time? NO, your coolant system will start rusting for sure. But for a temporary deal its fine although antifreeze is cheap.

      @mr.knucklehead9987 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also water will evaporate out of your system leaving you dry after a bit.

    • @Syphious64
      @Syphious64 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Mr.Knuckle Head Ended up flushing my 86 Ninja 250 after having cooling problems, I got a bottle of flushing fluid with water pump lube and ran that for a day with fresh antifreeze and drained the system and refilled again with premixed antifreeze, Worked way better after that, Was surprized by all the nasty crud that came out..
      All coolant systems need flushed every now and then lol

    • @mr.knucklehead9987
      @mr.knucklehead9987 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Syphious oh that's so true haha, I'll have to flush mine soon cause I got a 2007 ninja that's sat since 2008... Just got it running today and it needs all fluids flushed basically😭

    • @Syphious64
      @Syphious64 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Mr.Knuckle Head Yeah haha, Youll want to change all fluids and clean the carbs, its a pain but worth it to ride, EFI is very nice I will say though, I had an R6 for a while and it was nice not worrying about carbeurators

  • @captlarry-3525

    Duh Wrong ! It is very important to run the engine and let the water pump move coolant throughout the engine. This "Burps" the engine. Let engine cool until it is safe to open the cap, and then top up the coolant ! Pouring it in slowly has NOTHING TO DO WITH REMOVING AIR BUBBLES FROM THE SYSTEM !!!!
