You saved me far more that %1500.00. My wife's SE experienced the flashing lights of death. She took it down to the dealer and was told by the owner that the mother board was bad and that Husqvarna no longer stocks them. She then proceeded to try to sell my wife a new $16,000.00 machine. I haven't done any board work in almost 35 years so this 30-40 minute job took me 3 days. Slow but sure I got it done. My wife is thrilled and so is my pocketbook.
I am so grateful to find this hope. I too was dismissed by local repair shops. I love my Designer and when retired, I expected to do a lot of sewing and embroidery. Then the mother board/capacitor died and I grieved the loss. I was not about to buy a new Viking machine. Thank you for teaching how to bring it back to life.
I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your knowledge. After buying your repair kit my husband and son repaired my machine without a problem. My son also thanks you for your drawing. Your video was a great help to us when I could not find a repair place to fix my machine.
My husband was able to use your kit to fix my Designer SE. Thank you so much for the step by step instructions and for making the kit available!! I am happy to be sewing again!!
I Ordered the kit, watched the video and successfully repaired a machine for a VERY happy customer! The single most important piece of information comes at around 17:35 in the video. I couldn't figure out why the machine was not working properly mechanically. Electronically, every thing was fine. I re-watched the video and determined I had the polarity backwards. I would have been scratching my head for days trying to figure it out... Thank you for the kit, thank you for the video, and thank you for taking the time to instruct and inform.
Sooo I scored this machine for $100 bucks with the embroidery arm and yes it was flashing..i ordered this kit..brought it in and had it repaired...I now own a perfectly working Machine! For $250 bucks! Tyty for making these kits avail!!! Now to find me some hoops!
Just a great tutorial all around for this machine. His kit was perfect and their machine is back up and running without costing them an arm and a leg for new boards.
Just fixed my cousins machine. They bought your kit and I did the repair. Works fine so far. Thanks for posting. I wish I could get back into repair work. This was fun!

Dude, you SAVED US! We ordered the capacitors from you and my husband showed me how to solder them in. Thought the machine was broken till I realized I forgot to plug in the motor to the main board - duh! I had carefully marked the wires and photographed them so plugging the cables back in was easy. Your video is very comprehensive and it’s great! But there are two trouble caps on the motherboard that most likely affect 75% of designer se people with power problems.
God would love you to make a video of tearing apart a Viking designer diamond embroider unit to replace the Y push button that releases the hoop from the unit. I ordered the part. Wish me luck. Dan
Thanks for the videos and info. I've worked in electronics for over 35 years, and other than some +20 year old radios, I rarely have to replace low voltage capacitors (maybe the odd one that bulges/leaks/explodes). HV must be using the cheapest caps in the world...
My machine is identical. Reverse stitch no longer works. I hear a faint click when I depress the back stitch button, but nothing happens. Does back stitch on this machine work simply by reversing the motor direction or is there some sort of transmission linkage that shifts from forward to reverse? I have the machine completely disassembled thanks to this video but I'm not able to see how the reverse mechanism works.
Howdy. Well, I took the designer I apart. I got every thing to work. Everything worked in open testing. Got settled in to replace the cover. No screen. I broke the connector on one of the wires.@#$$%&***! Now, going to try my electronics people for a new socket. Wish me luck!

I tried to replace the plug and while doing this many of the wires came loose from their anchor. I’m 70 and my hands aren’t working as well As they did. Where can I take my machine to have it repaired?
What new parts did you use, and what did you replace? How did the machine turn back on without the power supply that you took out of its housing and put on the table? Very confusing!
I have a Husqvarna viking ruby the old grey fron. That keeps overheating and shutting off eventhough I cleaned the dust out of it. Any suggestions? Thankyou
We just acquired the exact machine. It works perfectly so probably not a good idea to proactively replace the electrolytic capacitors? Is there a way to determine how old the machine is and hour many hours of usage? Someone told us you need the Service Menu password in which we do not know. We got to the Menu and it does require a password. Love the detail of your videos. Thanks very much.

Great video. I am picking up one of these pretty cheap with a ton of hoops, 2 embroidery arms, CD'S, and books.
