@@dodde216 I don’t think that’s Lickitung getting spiced out, moreso a reaction of gulping down a cup full of hot green tea. Wasabi isn’t ever served in a cup like that, nor does it appear that much like a liquid. Since it’s a drink, it would make sense that it’s the cheapest too.
Beating the CPU in harden was a thing we did as kids as well. However, because we were on the PAL version, the game ran slower, so we actually had time to react inbetween the really short gaps.
I love Sandshrew so much and his lil diggy mini game is so good cause he's just a chubby lil guy who likes to make holes and roll around on the geyser that was made by him for him
This was my childhood it shouldn't have been because this was like two video game generations behind what was out but between this and starwars podracer... This is one of the few games I got excited to see a TH-camr play.
For reference, the TAS is 27 minutes long and covers all 21 minigames between Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2 and the harden minigame is 6 minutes 21 seconds long.
@@jacobjenkins7362 The harden one? They had all 4 players TASed and would only harden for the single frame the rock impacts. Doesn't matter the order, only how long they can go. I'm sure you could get a longer one with RNG manipulation, but I don't believe they did that.
I was really good at the Metapod game when I was a kid, I could beat the hard CPUs by a big margin. I think it's better to treat it like a rhythm minigame because once your familiar with all the timings you can do very quick precise taps that way, it's probably harder if you're relying mostly on sight.
Ahhh! My childhood! I used to fiend this game for so many years. I was honestly surprised they struggled with the normal cpu like they did, but then once they switched to hard the flashbacks returned. Those hard cpu on these mini games are some of the hardest cpu in any game, especially on harden. This does make me want to go back to play again
Ironically, yeah. Hearing Alpha talk about how sensitive the joystick input is on the gamecube controller when I remember how unsensitive the N64 controller joystick was
I think Jacob's theory about Metapod being slightly better than Kakuna is a legit feature, as Metapod's defense is 5 higher. I think it's the same case for Voltorb > Pikachu in the other game too
I remember playing this so much as a kid, and every single person had a different weird hand position for their mashing technique on the sandshrew game
About the allegations It's true. Red Com killed my grandma. I didn't want to escalate the drama to this level, but it was unavoidable. I just... I couldn't keep it in any longer. My legal teams told me, "I dunno, man, I don't care what you put on Twitter if it's true," and, "Wait, you're a client?" But it's time to set the record straight. Red Com killed my grandma on October 7, 1978. It was a confusing time for everybody involved; I was playing Wii on the couch, when I overheard a clatter in the kitchen. When I went in to investigate, Red Com was huddled on the kitchen floor, hugging his knees, crying tears as intense as Sandshrew's geyser. And there was grandma. The poor woman had a flowerpot shattered across her skull. "I was testing her harden reflexes!!!" Red Com wailed. But I knew the truth. And now you will, too. Red Com was just trying to flex. You can see it on his Tumblr. You can see it in the Pokémon Stadium subreddit. You can see it in your mom's DMs. ALL he does is post pictures of himself with frame perfect hardens. It's an obsession. And that fateful day three years ago, it went too far. Now, I don't want anybody to go and harass Red Com in his Twitter, or show up at his house with a pipe bomb. No, we, as the Alpharad Gold Plus Deluxe community (minus Dash) are above that. We do not attack people over such petty trifles. We attack their grandmas instead. May 8, 2042. Mark your calendars. Red Com, eat my voltorbs!
Oh man I was really passionate about acing the Kakuna and Metapod game when I was a kid. I also liked the Clefairy game purely because the song was lovely. Same for the Lickitung game; I just loved the audio.
My trick with the Harden minigame is to look at the rocks' shadows, never their actual model. Sorta like how I play 3D Platformers lol. Distance is always decided by drop shadow, not eyeing distance.
A little PSA to people who might not know, when you select a difficulty for the CPUs in Stadium, it actually changes the difficulty of the minigame itself. This extends to Stadium 2, and honestly, I love it.
Are they actually catching up on the upload speed? We've been getting consistent earlier uploads. Jo would be so good at Rock Harden if he wasn't using a laggy controller. Also Colin's been slacking lately. Day 74 of asking Alpharad Gold to play Minesweeper
I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds 2's games more fun, I think they just have way more replayability. But 1 has a bit more challenge to it's games
Looking back, I think what makes the Stadium 2 Minigames much more appealing were A) more complexity (6 of these games mostly consist of more or less rythmic button mashing without any additional mechanics) and B) more MiniGames where players directly interacted with one another. The only MiniGame in this one where Players somewhat interact with one another is the Lickatung one and MAYBE the Ekans one. All the other ones are just "do this better than the rest"
One thing they don't tell you about the Magikarp game is that you jump faster if you time your A press with your landing. That's how the CPUs were more than just 1 or 2 points ahead
I imagine it might be quite the ordeal, but just modding the Pokemon Stadium 1 & 2 minigames into the rotation of minigames for Mario Party 3 or something would be hype. Same with just modding other mario party games in.
Big day for me. Why? Because this comment will definitely 100% be read today and finally used for my suggestion. It is a momentous occasion. I like how drastically the energy changes when they switch the COMs to hard
Yeah, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and I wasn't even sitting!
For those wondering, the TAS for Magikarp Jump gets 32 jumps.
I didn’t know I needed this info until I saw it, thank you
a TAS with such a low number? jeez that's insane
And the hard com got 28 as it's best
