    I have been knitting since I was a child and now that I’m retired my schedule allows me to really dive into it. I have learned so much from you and even though I have no desire to design, I can’t tell you how much your tutorials have helped me expand my skill and share techniques with others. I highly recommend you to all my knitting friends. 💕

    I’m not a designer, but I like working more complex designs from charts. I looked for charting apps when I was knitting a pattern with row by row instructions only and I wanted to create a chart. What a disappointment! There wasn’t much to choose from, and I ended up using graph paper. This looks like the charting app I’ve always wanted! Thanks for the great introduction. Knit Companion is also a great utility for knitters.

    This was so informative! I downloaded it over a year ago and struggled a little bit. I use use my I pad for everything. Now I can get all my charts ready for the many patterns I have on graph paper and in my brain. Thanks you for always being so informative and sharing your knowledge.

    Oh my, this is genius (😂) I have just bought a pattern with typos in the pdf and no chart, but with this app I can literally see and rework the pattern so it’s legible and workable, I’ve had an iPad for years and only started using it recently due to your knit companion videos. So helpful

    I'm so happy to hear Knit Companion is coming out with a version for Mac laptops (and I hope, desktops). I love Knit Companion, thanks to learning about it from you, Staci, a while back. But my iPad is too old to support it anymore. I recently bought a Mac Mini. I was dismayed I couldn't load Knit Companion on it. So, thank you very much for the news. I can't wait to see your next video using your laptop.

    Great video on what appears to be a great app. I wonder if this or some other app will plug in a knitting gauge and create instructions for a garment based on measurements: arm stye decreases, necklines, sleeve decreases, etc. Since you have to calculate these basic numbers before using any chart, this seems to be a necessary first step. KnitCompanion is my constant companion, and I will certainly check out Pattern Genius. Thanks for all your helpful information.

    Staci, you’re so hilarious. Hehe. Thank you so much for showing us this cool app. I’m wondering, is the app able to take the chart we’ve painted and generate a “knitted mock up” image of what we’ve painted in the chart ie. showing a knitted mock up of the lace patterns and cables, etc?

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm...I'm not sure I understand your question. The chart itself is sort of a knitted mock-up because you can see what the results will be within the chart. I'm still learning the app myself - you might want to contact knitCompanion with your question.

    Does the paid tier allow you to export pattern charts and keys as vector images? This looks great and much more fun to use than what I’m using currently, but having edgeless vectors is much better from a design perspective because then you can really pop your charts into your pattern design any way that you want. I’ll probably stick with what I currently use until this offers vector export. LMK. Thanks for your videos.

    Very cool app. I'm doing the genius trial. One request, I'm left-handed and do mirror knitting. When numbering the chart would love if alternate numbering could be both ways and if, when the written pattern is generated, it could take that into consideration. So, if Row 1 was read left-to-right, the written instructions were generated that way, also.
    I love that I can customize the key, so I can reverse ssk with k2tog by changing the key. Thank you for that.

      From what I understand, PatternGenius projects are saved on one type of file format, and knitCompanion projects are saved in a different one. But, that said, once you save your PG project to a PDF (a finished pattern), it can be opened in kC, then saved as a kC project.

    I use the free Knit Companion. I have concerns. If I purchase a pattern from a website other than Ravelry, and download it onto my knitcompanion on my iPad, and then a few years latter my iPad dies, can I still recover that purchased pattern when I get a new iPad or maybe some other computer? I cannot pull up my knit companion on my android smart phone so that it will show all the patterns I downloaded. Do I have to purchase knit companion? I don’t feel I use it enough for what the monthly charge is.
