    Imagine the actual Mark Kermode reading out your review. Still holds up all these years later!

    I love revisiting this review mainly to hear the credit given to Helena Bonham Carter and that hilarious mockery of her performance in Room With a View. I didn't realize she was hated in that movie and she went a very long way from playing the posh spoiled type to being the "Goth icon" with all the wits and quirks. Fight Club obviously did the trick to motivate them to cast her as Bellatrix after seeing her transition from those neat romantic roles into the weirder macabre territory.

    The veil/archway wasn't really explained in the book either you get just as much explanation.

    the fact of the matter is that, post-Chris Columbus, they have been good to exceptional films in terms of craft and narrative.

    • @Gadget-Walkmen
      @Gadget-Walkmen ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL NOT even close. Even the Chris Columbus films have BOTH been fantastically well made films as Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets are GORGEOUSLY well made big budget cinematic films that have become culture icons in BOTH craft and narrative which you BADLY can't see or understand here at all! They're two of the BEST made big budget "kids movies" ever created that all cinematic movies should strive for! What you're saying is is NOT "tHe FaCt ofThE mAtTer" at all, you REALLY don't know what you're saying at all as you're BADLY understating on how incredible the Chris Columbus Harry Potter movies are as they've BOTH been massively successful and INCREDIBLE films!
      And the Harry Potter films aren't just "good to exceptional films", they're ALL phenomenally well made and constructed films entirely as being culture iconic films! It's a FANTASTIC film entirely just as the rest of the Harry Potter movies are as well into this PHENOMENAL! Prisoner of Azkaban and Half Blood Prince are my two favorite ones but ALL the Harry Potter movies are phenomenal films!

    Problem is Lucius Malfoy & Snape don't appear that much in Book 5.

    • @Gadget-Walkmen
      @Gadget-Walkmen ปีที่แล้ว

      That's not a "problem" AT ALL, that's just the way how the story is! As they're mainly saved up for later!

    Yep, I saw the film yesterday on tv and I agree with Mark on every issue here.

    • @Gadget-Walkmen
      @Gadget-Walkmen ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't as he's entirely wrong and invalid on "every issue here" as he just doesn't get the movie and what it's trying to do! And neither do you if your side with ANY of his "eVerY IsSUe hErE" as Mark doesn't know what he's talking about at all! Prisoner of Azkaban and Half Blood Prince are my two favorite ones but ALL the Harry Potter movies are phenomenal films!

    "Love, beauty, truth... SHUT UP!" XD
    I've been wondering what Kermode thought of the Potter films, so happy to see that he had pretty much the same criticisms as I did. OotP is the longest book and the shortest film, but it's also one of the best films imo.

    • @Gadget-Walkmen

      I disagree with ALL the "criticisms" of the movie as it a FANTASTIC film entirely just as the rest of the Harry Potter movies are as well into this PHENOMENAL!

      @@MeOnHere577 Entirely too true! I love them all and the first two ARE completely "absolute magical films" JUST like the rest of the Harry Potter movies as the series gets darker and darker!

    ah i so wish Mark had read the Harry Potter books, they're so much better than the films. All the humour is gone in the films

    • @Gadget-Walkmen
      @Gadget-Walkmen ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL NOT even close. You're completely wrong here ENTIRELY so. The humor is ALL there as there is plenty of funny and humorous moments ALL throughout them entirely inside the Harry Potter movies that doesn't break the tone of the narrative as these ARE serious stories that take themselves and Harry Potter movies are able to do BOTH of being able to bring forth both the humor AND the serious nature of Harry Potter and it's serious storytelling of the battle of good and evil. EVEN the Darkest Harry Potter movie has a GOOD amount of humor in it that naturally fits within the film that doesn't break the tone of the overall narrative and story.
      The humor is NOT "gOnE iN tHe fIlMs" in the slightest as you must be NOT paying attention AT ALL towards ANY of the scenes, where there is SUPPOSED to be humor in it so, for you to say with a straight face that "aLl tHE hUmOR iS gONe iN tHE fILMs" lol no it's not. The humor is ALL there. You're just being an obnoxious book reader. NOTHING is "gOnE" at all, you're just whining for no reason here.
      And the Harry Potter films are MASSIVELY iconic and I prefer them to the books towards their cinematic craft and storytelling of how serious each Harry Potter movie gets to highlight the darkness of each installment. Prisoner of Azkaban and Half Blood Prince are my two favorite ones but ALL the Harry Potter movies are phenomenal film.
      And Mark DOES read the books but just not during the viewing of when he made this video.

    Did this guy just compare harry potter to the twin towers?

    • @steelpatriot3683
      @steelpatriot3683 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      shauniiox he meant The Two Towers (Lord of the Rings). Surprising that Egg Mayo didn’t pick him up on it.
